Zack decides to follow a different path and refuses to be held down by his past ties to Shinra, while Biggs finds himself unable to let go of Avalanche and feels compelled to continue their work, no matter what.

* AffectionateParody: Their quirky personalities and obsession over what is basically children's card game is clearly meant to emulate opponents found in a CardBattleGame series.
* {{Chuunibyou}}: Something of a RunningGag is just how over-the-top players of Queen's Blood can be. Many of the players wouldn't be out of place in a series like Franchise/YuGiOh. Hilariously, the players' hammy attitudes towards the game somehow manage to rub off on Cloud and his friends when they play.
* TheGimmick: Almost all of them have some sort of humorous gimmick to distinguish themselves.
* IncomingHam: Let's just say that the players of Queen's Blood are some of the most colorful people that Cloud will come across. Often it is hard to tell if they are just simply roleplaying or are really that eccentric.
* SerialEscalation: The players just keep on getting weirder and weirder as Cloud travels across the Planet, eventually facing unusually smart animals, a Sephiroth Clone, and the undead.
* SeriousBusiness: Part of their humor among the Queen's Blood players is that they tend to take the card game way too seriously. For example, one player in the Crow's Nest legitimately wants to use the game as a way to negotiation peace with [[MegaCorp Shinra]]. Although, a couple players are justified for their behavior since [[spoiler:they are aware there is an actual dangerous curse placed on the card game that has resulted in several people dying, including the creator of Queen's Blood, Lidrehl Balmon]].

* AmbiguouslyHuman: Given the time frame she was alive and being a wielder of "arcane magic," it is quite possible she might have been a Cetra, or a human skilled in using materia or some other magic system that has been lost to time.
* TheGhost: Literally. Unlike the Shadowblood Queen, the Emerald Witch's spirit is never heard speaking.
* GoodCounterpart: Like the Shadowblood Queen, she is a spirit bound to a one-of-a-kind Queen's Blood card. Unlike the Shadowblood Queen, she is wholly benevolent and seeks to stop her nemesis from making a comeback.
* GoodWitchVersusBadWitch: The Emerald Witch was a benevolent sorceress who led a rebellion against the evil Shadowblood Queen--a tyrannical SorcerousOverlord--and saw to it that she was executed. However, the Shadowblood Queen's vengeful spirit was BarredFromTheAfterlife and began plotting to make a comeback through the Queen's Blood card made in her likeness, so the Emerald Witch's spirit incarnated as a Queen's Blood card to oppose her once again.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: She was a heroic sorceress who fought against an evil queen many centuries before the events of the games.
* PosthumousCharacter: She's been dead for countless centuries, but hasn't passed on to the Lifestream due to her nemesis also persisting.
* SealedGoodInACan: Her spirit is bound to the Queen's Blood card made in her likeness, and is the only thing able to stop the Shadowblood Queen's rise to power.
* VirtuousCharacterCopy: Considering all the ''Franchise/YuGiOh'' shoutouts permeating the side quest, she is one to the Spirit of the Ring. Another spirit bound to a likeminded object to the nemesis they faced long ago, but where the Spirit uses the Pharoah's return to usurp his power, The Emerald Witch waits to stop her nemesis from returning to conquer the world.

They both now work against their former employors and have connection with Avalanche. Additionally, both are suffering from cellular degradation as a result of the Mako infusion and the Jenova cells implanted in their bodies. This results in Sephiroth trying take control of them through the Jenova cells.]]

* MirrorCharacter: To Tifa, since Broden acts a reflection to Cloud. Mildred and Broden are childhood friends much like Tifa and Cloud. She clearly care about Broden's health, and dreams about traveling the world with him, much like what Tifa and Cloud are doing in ''Rebirth''. Notably, her design has multiple allusions to Tifa's outfit, with the suspenders, ponytail, gloves and her bust making her look like an older, brunette version of Tifa.
