** Her Shapeshift was buffed via Interlude into Four Gods Divination (Hakuro) A. In addition to the flat defense buff, it also now buffs her debuff resistance and gives the party a crit damage buff. The debuff resistance help her out since she already has lower than average debuff resistance, and the crit star boost helps her out with team

* CrutchCharacter: As much as he's useful in the earlier parts of the game (see MemeticBadass and ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman below), his being a bronze-rarity Servant means he'll always be overpowered by the other Servants during the later stages of the game.

to:

* CriticalHitClass: All his skills and Noble Phantasm revolve around critical hits, further reinforced by his triple Quick card deck and Quick NP that even buffs Quick card effectiveness (and therefore how many Stars they drop). His first skill adds up to a 40% critical damage buff for 3 turns. His second skill creates a 1-turn burst of 15 Stars on a 4-turn cooldown. His third skill ties it all together with a buff to Critical Star generation ''and'' absorption. Even his NP spits out 15 to 35 Stars depending on Overcharge.

* GlassCannon: His defining sword technique is an instant kill attack if all three blows land. On the defensive side he has no armor, an "E" rating in toughness, and dies more or less instantly if struck even once. In-game, his sole defensive measure (a 1-turn Evasion on a 6-turn cooldown) is tied to his strongest damage buff, a 3-turn 40% critical damage buff, so he often forgoes the only thing stopping his brittle 1* rarity HP from crumbling for more damage.

* WeakButSkilled: Overall, this is how she's being presented both in-game and through her Servant stats - she's only got E-rank Strength, and her ATK is on the lower end of the spectrum amongst 4-star Servants. Even if the OneHitKill effect doesn't occur, her NP damage at NP lv 5 is quite high.

* MasterOfNone: While a serviceable free Assassin with a strong [=AoE=] Noble Phantasm for raw damage, Assassin Scathach lacks a strong skill set or stats to make her stand out as both a [=F2P=] unit (especially compared to Sakata Kintoki Rider and Chloe von Einzbern, two of the strongest Servants in their entire respective classes but also free and released in the same three-month period) and as an Assassin in general. Unlike more specialized Assassins, she's an odd mix of tanking (via her first skill and possibly her second), party support (via healing and a defense buff on her targetable second skill), CriticalHitClass, and Noble Phantasm damage (which is her most straight-forward and practical usage). The result is a character who can flexibly support or do damage (but must actively choose when to Taunt and when to do critical hits with her first skill, since she'll rarely be able to do both in its one-turn duration), and has an average amount of attack and HP to support either, but can do neither particularly well outside of her NP for raw damage (which is itself a blessing and a curse; Assassins don't do particularly high neutral damage due to Assassins' 0.9 damage modifier, so most Assassins apply debuffs on their [=NPs=] instead to support and thus don't even try to compete with Scathach's very high [=NP5=] damage).

* MightyGlacier: She has very high HP but very low Attack, which is hindered even further by the .9 Assassin class modifier. However, she has the ability to drain NP from an enemy, deal with most debuffing enemies and regenerate HP over time, which makes her rather bulky on top of the high HP. Further, her NP carries a 50-100% Buster up effect meaning she can hit harder than her attack stat would suggest. However, to get the best use out of it she needs to use one of her skills to stop the demerit, meaning she only hits hard once every few turns even with good support. Because stall-based strategies aren't much use in general gameplay (particularly farming), she can be rather underwhelming outside of longer battles.

* DifficultButAwesome: Using Hinako to her full potential in battle is not exactly the easiest task. Considering her Noble Phantasm ''removes'' her buffs before dealing damage, she requires proper planning ahead of time to ensure she has buff removal immunity by the time her NP is ready to be used, which can sometimes be a little finicky (or requires you to have rare limited servants such as Beni-enma and Murasaki Shikibu), but if you can overcome these hurdles, she can bring on the pain despite her really low Attack stat.

** In the first fight against her in SIN, she spams her Noble Phantasm over and over again, not dissimilar to Camelot's Mordred, but your party receives Guts every turn to help them survive the constant onslaught as you rush to break her first health bar to end the battle.
** The playable version of her has a self-charge skill along with an NP generation skill over 5 turns that at max rank will be ready to use again immediately. At max rank she can fill three quarters of her gauge over five turns without taking into account building NP charge through attacks or a Servant support, making it feasible for her to spam her NP frequently.

* SupportPartyMember: Shuten is a great debuff-based support character. Her first skill increases the party's ATK and her second skill is [=AoE=] and can charm ''any'' enemy (if it misses, it still decreases their DEF). Her NP inflicts almost ''all'' debuffs on enemies, most importantly, an ATK and DEF down, NP Strength down, and even a one-turn skill seal. A NP Strengthening also inflicts a 5 turn toxic status. She also has the critical star generation capabilities of the Assassin class, which, when combined with her high hit counts, allow her a supplementary role as critical support.

** Smile of the Stheno has a chance of charming or causing instant death if used on males; otherwise it's just a non-scaling defense debuff. That her Noble Phantasm itself ends up an UselessUsefulSpell is the main reason Stheno isn't very appreciated in gameplay, as even [[JokeCharacter Mata Hari]] has a more generally-useful debuff NP than she does. Her second Strengthening Quest works to alleviate this by changing the defense debuff to a scaling one based on level while also adding a buff removal effect to increase its utility. It helps that she has one of the highest NP Gain rates in the game, allowing her to spam her NP far faster than any other Servant with a buff removal ability/NP even though her deck has all of one Arts card.
** Her first Strengthening Quest gave her an attack buff that applies an extra bonus to Divine Servants, making her more useful but only in parties containing Servants with Divinity to take advantage of that buff. Granted, that list gets bigger as time goes on.

->''"I AM A NAMELESS PHARAOH. LOWER YOUR HEAD YOU ARE BEING DISRESPECTFUL...HEY, YOU CANNOT LOOK INSIDE."''

Nitocris has covered herself up with a Medjed blanket out of embarrassment and shame after she was rude to Ozymandias. Though her Noble Phantasm and Class has changed, she's still the same old Nitocris under that blanket.

An alternate version of Nitocris who debuted in the summer 2017 event. She's on Team Desert Beauty with Scheherazade for the Dead Heat Summer Race.
----
* {{Adorkable}}: Until you get her first ascension, she has an entirely different set of bond lines where she pretends to be Medjed. It's both hilarious and quite cute. When she finally sheds the sheet over her head, she's very disappointed that the protagonist was somehow not fooled by her perfect disguise.
* BedsheetGhost: She wears a Medjed blanket for her first ascension, evoking this trope.
* CastingAShadow: She can attack with souls from the underworld.
* CuteClumsyGirl: As seen in the event trailer when she randomly trips with a cute expression on her face. Even better, her Medjed kickboard and blanket also have an "X" in their eyes when she falls down.
* DrowningPit: Her Noble Phantasm has her trapping her victims into a closed in room that fills up with water, based on the stories of her drowning those who had wronged her brothers.
* EyeBeams: She summons a gigantic Medjed to shoot these for her Extra attack.
* OneHitKill: Just like her Caster version, this version's NP has a chance to inflict an instant kill.
* PaperThinDisguise: She's convinced that her Medjed disguise is perfect and that no one can see through it. All the pharaohs she looks up to seem to think it's funny and try to lift up the sheet, much to her distress. If you get to her fifth bond level before ascending her once she tells you to hurry up and ascend her so she can dramatically reveal her true form.
* RapunzelHair: It pokes out from under her blanket, making it even more obvious who she is under that blanket.
* {{Stripperific}}: PlayedWith in this case. Her final card art looks like it leaves her ''topless'', but that's only because her bikini top is obscured well by her shawl.
* SummonMagic: She can summon Medjeds to attack. They even have EyeBeams!
* TookALevelInBadass: Like a decent number of the 2017 Summer Servants; for all the goofiness, there's an implication this is a better class for her. She's traded out a lot of her generally-ineffectual Caster instant death gimmicks for skills, a garment that make her ''hard as nails'', and a stat line that can back it up. Her NP also provides a more helpful support effect (with defense down) while still retaining the instant kill effect.
* UseYourHead: One of her attack animations is a rushing headbutt.

->''"I'm Tosa's Okada Izou. You might know me better as Hitokiri Izou. What? Assassin...? You misunderstood, my class is 'Hitokiri'. [[note]] Japanese for "Manslayer"[[/note]]"''

Okada Izou is one of the four most effective hitokiri/manslayers during the Bakumatsu period in Japan.

He made his debut in GUDAGUDA Strange Tales of the Imperial Holy Grail event as a limited Servant[[note]]He is the first limited 3* Servant.[[/note]].
----
* BackStab: In his Noble Phantasm, he slashes his enemy upward from behind after dealing multiple sword slashes.
* BattleCry: When attacking, he will tend to shout the slogan he and his fellow ''hitokiri'' became infamous for:
--> ''[[PunctuatedForEmphasis TEN! CHUUU!]]''[[note]]天誅, literally meaning "justice from heaven" -- as befitting their extremist devotion to the Emperor's divinity[[/note]].
* BerserkButton: Being laughed at or made a fool of, especially if he knows the person doing so is legitimately superior to him.
* BoringButPractical: Considered by players one of the best Assassin units, despite being a 3 star, because his kit and stats make him incredibly good at being both a critical star generator, and a strong damage dealer who happens to be a Arts focused Assassin. His Noble Phantasm increases his crit star generation for a turn as well, which on top of his base kit, makes him a very strong Noble Phantasm spammer, who can generate a ton of stars. His solid attack and health also help as well.
* DoesNotLikeSpam: Quietly admits to the protagonist that he hates vegetables so much that he'd like them to keep him from even accidently smelling them.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Fully admits he cares about naught but killing and manslaying, but also says that he finds masters who use their underlings as nothing but tools for profit to be unforgivable.
* TheFaceless: His second ascension look takes the form of his reputation as "the murderer roaming the old capital" itself, making him look like a demon with a face constantly framed in shadow, save for one huge, glowing red eye.
* {{Fanboy}}: Of Miyamoto Musashi--which gets a nod in his Stage 3 Ascension when he takes a similar stance as her.[[note]]This Reddit thread highlights [[https://ff.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/91jc4k/my_appreciation_for_the_details_tm_gave_okada_izou/ the literary influence behind this]].[[/note]]
* TheGamblingAddict: States that gambling is one of his favorite things to do ''in spite of not winning anything'', and states that he'd use the Holy Grail to wish for money to gamble with. He's more than happy to invite the player to join him though.
* GoodCostumeSwitch: Interestingly, while his first two outfits play up his qualities as a wandering, brutal killer, the third is his official samurai garb. He comments that he hasn't seen that outfit in quite a while and that it doesn't really fit him anymore.
* GoryDiscretionShot: After the BackStab, the scene turns into silhouettes with blood showers from the enemy while he is having an EvilLaugh.
* HighPressureBlood: It comes out of pretty much all of his attacks as well as his NP (which, by the way, ''[[{{Squick}} involves him bisecting his victim lengthwise from the heart to the head, splitting their head open]]'') -- emphasizing how brutal and cruel his fighting style is compared to the other katana wielders.
* InsistentTerminology: He's not an assassin. He's a manslayer. He's fairly set on that.
* MythologyGag:
** He wonders if he's met Medusa before in one of his My Room lines. This is a throwback to ''Koha-Ace'' where Medusa as "Major Reiter" was his Master.
** His pose is an imitation of Musashi's pose, a reference to how Izou in his youth was inspired by tales of Miyamoto Musashi to become a swordsman.
* NormalFishInATinyPond: He's a genius swordsman with incredible natural talent who was cut down when he was in his youth, thus he never experienced the things that make other warriors worldly. He never got old or sick, never met a WorthyOpponent, never saw the world outside of isolated Japan, and never saw nor comprehended that his downfall was brought by his own vices. So when he suffers his close defeat against Li Shuwen, Izou accuses Shuwen of using his Redline before Okita Alter acknowledges that Li Shuwen was just stronger than him. Shuwen himself said before disappearing after losing his duel with Okita Alter, who was decisively weaker than both of them (due to the severe wounds Shuwen suffered from his Izou), that in terms of talent, Izou was superior to him, and the difference in their fighting skills was paper-thin, but the difference in life-experience was the reason why he lost.
* PowerCopying: He can perfectly replicate others' sword techniques after seeing them once with his Noble Phantasm Shimatsuken (Settlement Sword). Normally he is limited to the ones he has seen in his life, but he can learn new techniques after being summoned. The only restrictions are that he can't copy techniques that rely on special characteristics of a Noble Phantasm or Anti-Unit Mystic Sword techniques like Tsubame Gaeshi, and the technique copied has to be an Anti-Unit type.
* PsychopathicManchild: In a way, he sort of is. He may be an infamous, brutal hitman, but it is clearly coming out of his immature sense of self-importance, confidence in his skills and a lack of understanding of the implications of his actions -- which understandably got him executed in life.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: His 2nd ascension is blatantly running on this -- playing off the stereotypical "shadow killer" in most JidaiGeki. Also fitting considering he and his compatriots among the Four Hitokiri of the Bakumatsu are the TropeCodifier of that.
* {{Ronin}}: Definitely looks the part for his 1st and 2nd ascension stages. [[JustifiedTrope Justified]] in that he actually comes from a lower class of samurai from Tosa at the time.
* ScarfOfAsskicking: Not so much his first one, which is mostly intended to make him look like a hobo. His third ascension one, on the other hand, is clearly here to be cool.
* SmugSuper: He is very, very proud of his ability to instantly learn swordmanship through merely watching it, and likes to refer to himself as a prodigy of the sword. It also kind of overlaps with SmallNameBigEgo, as while it really is an incredible power, Heroic Spirits have among their ranks several martial artists who can still overcome him through skill alone. He doesn't take it too well when he discovers that Li Shuwen is still slightly above his level he thought was undefeatable.
* WeUsedToBeFriends: He and Ryouma aren't on very good terms these days, to say the least.[[note]]For the most part, this was [[TruthInTelevision likely due to ideological shift]]: while Izo and his compatriots from Tosa insisted on violent isolationism and the immediate restoration to power of Emperor Komei, Ryouma eventually drifted towards Western learning, modernization and coalition politics -- with the long term goal of replacing the Tokugawa Shogunate. Ironically, it was Ryouma's efforts which eventually paid off -- as witness the UsefulNotes/MeijiRestoration.[[/note]]
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: His hair gets dyed a noticeable shade of dark blue by Stage 3--and this after becoming a FieryRedhead in Stage 2.

->''"Oh? Ah, yes, I'm Osakabehime the Assassin. Hey, can I go home yet? Oh really."''

Osakabe-hime is a youkai enshrined as landlord deity of Himeji Castle, well-settled into its tower at this point. She appears to be a tidy black-haired maiden but once that veneer is taken off, what you have is someone gloomy, menial and with a predisposition to find most things bothersome. She's friends with Tamamo and Kiyohime.

The event SSR introduced with Halloween 2017.
----
* AnimalMotifs:
** Bats. Her hoodie is decorated like a bat and in her art, she's always seen with a bat [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Origami_paper#Chiyogami_.2F_Yuzen chiyogami]] figure in her hand. This also ties to her {{Hikikomori}} attitude below thanks to a [[Main/IncrediblyLamePun Japanese pun.]] The joke is that bats are pronounced ''komori'' in Japanese.
** Also, while it's not a main motif, she's also fond of using foxes during some attacks and in her third ascension art. Her profile reveals that it really ''is'' her main motif, as she is a 300-years-old {{Kitsune}} who attained human form, but she's going with the bat motif to [[SuperheroSpeciation avoid overlapping too much]] with [[Characters/FateGrandOrderCasters Tamamo]][='=]s character, both as a favor to an old friend and because Tamamo can get really scary when she's angry.
** A CE from the Summer 2018 event, "Lady Foxy", depicts Osakabe in her true form (and [[WalkingSwimsuitScene a bikini]]) with [[LittleBitBeastly fox ears and tail]].
* AnimationBump: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNCoqAPv9yY Her Noble Phantasm]] is ''ridiculous'' compared to many others. It uses a very high-res (for the game) Himeji Castle rooftop as a stage setting, Osakabe gets a completely unique dance animation for it, and she dances under the light of fireflies, which ends up filling the screen with particle effects. It's incredibly beautiful and it's also hilariously more involved than 90% of the game's other [=NPs=]. The only ones who even come close are Caster Nero and Archer of Shinjuku.
* ArcVillain: [[spoiler:She masterminded the Halloween 2017 Singularity as a way to stay a social recluse ''forever''.]]
* AscendedExtra: She's been mentioned several times by Tamamo as one of her email pen pals. Kiyohime also briefly mentioned her in this capacity during Halloween 2015 (which, in a hilarious bit of timing, many people were reminded of when the North American server ran the event a week before Osakabe's debut) and Musashi name-drops her during her Trial Quest.
* BalanceBuff: Osakabe had her Noble Phantasm strengthened with the Halloween 2017 Event Re-run. This doubled the [[TheMedic Max Health bonus]] and, unexpectedly, gives a 30% Buster base bonus alongside the previous 30% Quick bonus. This is especially surprising considering how was originally seen as a pure Quick support.
* BeneathTheMask: Her "Princess mode", where she acts like a bubbly GenkiGirl who adores her Master, is a front for her attempts to manipulate them into letting her do whatever she wants. Problem is, she's not good at hiding what's behind the mask, so her lazier, gloomier "NEET mode" is obvious to anyone who's around her long enough. Not only that, but it gets turned around on her at higher bond and ascension levels.
-->'''Osakabe-hime:''' I get it, I get it, alright? I know you already saw how I am at the start, so whatever.
* CelebrityParadox: As stated below, she plays ''Grand Order'' on her tablet, which brings up questions on the nature of the multiverse.
* FingerPokeOfDoom: One of her attack animations is teleporting behind the target and poking its back. ''And it deals damage''. And somehow hits the enemy '''''four times''''' with one poke.
* FreezeFrameBonus: If you look closely at her tablet's screen, it looks like she's ''playing FGO''. She hasn't cleared Solomon's Temple yet as it displays the original title screen.
* GamerChick: She's got plenty of video games to play (including ''FGO'' itself), and invites the protagonist to play them with her as her Bond Level increases.
* {{Hikikomori}}:
** Tamamo and Kiyohime both call her a shut-in and the legend itself states that she hates meeting people and hides in various areas of the castle, particularly the uppermost floors like the attic... which leads to the gag. Her room is a typical hikikomori room (in the attic, of course) and she has a multi-screen computer with a video of summer Marie on Niconico, a Wacom drawing tablet, posters of pretty boys like Kojirou and Siegfried; Tamamo, Tamamo Cat and Kiyohime figurines, volumes of ''Learning with Manga'', a Kid Gilgamesh dakimakura, and even a Musashi nesoberi.
** [[spoiler:The whole reason she hatches the plot of the Halloween 2017 event is so that she can remain a hikikomori ''forever'' - if she sets up a situation in which Bathory can't make Halloween happen, the singularity will never collapse (but won't threaten history either), therefore it will always be cut off from the rest of the world and she can remain in safe isolation for eternity.]]
* ImprobableWeaponUser: One of her skills and some of her attacks revolve around her use of ''origami figures'' in combat.
* InTheHood: A more adorable version than most - in her initial ascension, she's wearing a hoodie-blanket over her dress, based on the 12-layered kimono of her legend. She later drops it for a simple hoodie, though it's still full of layers.
* {{Kitsune}}: What she really is, though she goes with a bat motif so as not to overlap with Tamamo (or get on Tamamo's bad side). The "Lady Foxy" Craft Essence alludes to this by showing her in her true form, with fox ears and a tail.
* LampshadeHanging: When thanked about still selling Halloween prizes at the shop after [[spoiler:being revealed as the villain]], she complains, but a mook for the event explains that no Servant [[AWizardDidIt can resist the magic.]]
* LazyBum: Most of the characters suggest going training or on adventures with them, if you're just idling in My Room. This girl meanwhile is extremely happy to learn that no one's going anywhere and she can laze around all she wants. And of course there's her summoning where she barely introduces herself before cheerfully asking "okay, can I go home now?" [[spoiler:This attitude is what makes the prototype Mecha Eli-chan Mark I turn on her, since she made it too similar to a dutiful Liz who cares about running Cjeste correctly.]]
* LethalChef: Beni-Enma says her cooking is so bad, Osakabe-hime would do better to die and be reincarnated so she could learn from the beginning than trying to teach her now.
* MasterOfNone: She's considered to be a particularly low tier Servant because she can't really ''do'' anything. She seems to have been designed as a possible Quick support, but there are some pretty critical flaws that make it impossible to fulfill that role. For starters, her Quick buff is tied to her NP and not a skill, meaning it can't be used on command. She also can't generate NP fast enough with her NP gain/hit counts. Her party defense/healing and NP fill skills are also similarly lacking, leaving some players to conclude that she's only a functional unit when played by herself and therefore able to always have the cards you need to make her workable.
** This is taken even further with her Noble Phantasm strengthening, which adds a Buster buff alongside an improved heal.
* TheMedic: A bit of an odd example. Instead of directly restoring health like most other heals in the game, her Noble Phantasm increases the party's maximum HP for 3 turns. While this acts as only a temporary buff, it has the advantage of effectively healing members that already had full health, making it more useful in certain situations.
* {{Meganekko}}: One of her primary character design features in her initial ascension, and in general she's depicted as something of a nerd. While she loses them for her second and third ascensions, she gets them back for her final one.
* MythologyGag: Osakabe is surprised to see [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/FateGrandOrderSabers Miyamoto Musashi]] as a woman, referencing how, according to legend, she met the historical (male) Musashi. See OddFriendship below.
* NiceShoes: She wears lacquered platform geta sandals that also have ankle-clasps. They get no small bit of focus in her NP.
* NotWhatISignedOnFor: Her only real goal in Halloween 2017 is to [[spoiler:create a self-sustaining singularity that will never fade so she can be a hikikomori forever.]] When she realizes that going through with the plan means she needs to [[spoiler:kill Elisabeth in order to properly power Mecha Eli-chan MKII]], she's clearly not happy about it and keeps trying to stall for time instead of going through with the deed.
* OddFriendship: She's implied to have become friends with [[https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Characters/FateGrandOrderSabers Miyamoto Musashi]], with Musashi convincing Osakabe to go travelling with her [[https://www.reddit.com/r/grandorder/comments/9lz999/%E3%82%80%E3%81%95%E3%81%8B%E3%81%B9_the_portmanteau_name_of_miyamoto_musashi/ among other things]]. The nerdy, shut-in youkai becoming friends with an outgoing, dimension-hopping samurai is rather odd, though they do have a [[MythologyGag historical connection]] - according to legend, the historical Musashi helped Osakabe-hime out by getting rid of a monster in her castle. As thanks, Osakabe gave him a treasured sword.
* OtakuSurrogate: Expected from a shut-in whose room is filled with ''FGO''-related goods.
* PaperMaster: An ace when it comes to origami, and attacks with a variety of magically empowered, animal-themed foldings, up to and including a full-sized ''horse''.
* RapunzelHair: She wears her hair in a pair of pigtails that stretch down past her ''knees''.
* SheCleansUpNicely: The [[https://grandorder.wiki/images/c/c1/Portrait_CE_0872.png 2018 Summer Craft Essence]] does show that when she gets out of her stuffy, traditionally-inspired clothing and her awkward demeanor, she actually looks stunning.
* {{Sleepyhead}}: Her in-game battle sprite seems trying not to fall asleep.
* SquareRaceRoundClass: Although she's an Assassin, her physical stats are horrendous because she rarely leaves her room and has several skills and a Noble Phantasm that would be more appropriate for a Caster. If it wasn't for her lifetime of hiding and concealing herself, she'd probably be a Caster through and through.
* SquishyWizard: Her parameters go from abysmal to amazing, with E ranking on Strength, Agility and Endurance, but A+ on Luck and Mana, and A++ for her Noble Phantasm.
* StoneWall: Though she can't heal herself, she does have the ability to give herself an impressive 80% defense for one turn by herself or 50% for three. This gives her some pretty good synergy with the likes of Tamamo or Mash by letting her either hit 100% outright or allowing her to keep her defense buffs up near permanently and healing her at the same time.
* SupportPartyMember: Subverted. With her skill set and NP, you would think she's the closest the game has to a functional Quick support Servant (at least before the introduction of Skadi). However, with her Quick based deck, inability to increase NP on demand and the Quick buff (and later Buster Buff) being tied to her NP, she can't keep her NP up enough without using a lot of her cards whenever they're up, which undermines the point of being support. As a result, she's actually [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration more suited to being used entirely by herself]] than as support.
* VoodooDoll: She creates origami representations of her Master which is cute if not for the fact that she made it so that anything that happens to the doll also happens to them.

->''"Whoever sees my face will learn the meaning of fear...including you."''

The mysterious person from the novel set in the 19th Century, the titular Phantom of the Opera. He's probably the individual that became the basis for the novel. Living in a huge labyrinth waterway beneath the opera house, he was charmed by a young actress, guided her into becoming a songstress, and performed serial murders for the sake of his unfulfilled love.

Normally a gentleman but it's only a mere facade. Great sorrow and hatred is hidden beneath his mask. He knows that when it becomes too much for him, a tragedy will occur.

He has a brief appearance in France as an antagonist and the real being. He also appears in Shinjuku as a villain under the Berserker class, searching for his Christine.
----
* {{Bishonen}}: When not wearing his bloodied mask, he actually looks pretty normal.
* BishonenLine: Of a sort. After spending Stage 1-2 as a sort of menacing, floating wraith, Stage 3 renders Phantom as a somewhat normal SharpDressedMan-- with most of his powers intact and upgraded.
* CharmPerson: With his Personal Skill, Alluring Voice. It only works on females though.
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Very much so.
* FacialHorror: What he at least claims is under his mask.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: In-universe, he has the Innocent Monster skill at a fairly high rank. This is because his mask and deformities were added by later sources, while the original was [[TheyLookJustLikeEveryoneElse an unremarkable-looking but quite-mad murderer]].
* HumanResources: In Shinjuku he's been constructing automatons out of murdered people. He refers to the one he appears with as Christine [[spoiler:and it really is her, but she's completely insane thanks to the body she's in and only gains lucidity after her body is destroyed. She has no idea what she was doing in Shinjuku and asks if he summoned her to sing, but when he confirms this guess she calls him a liar.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: [[https://youtu.be/BpbBUyGrQa4 The Phantom of Kabuki-cho]], which features in Shinjuku as he goes about his murder spree.
* LuminescentBlush: Give him a chocolate during Valentine's Day, and at the end of his return gift cutscene he'll give a blush so powerful it's visible through his mask and bandages.
* {{Megane}}: Wears glasses for his third ascension.
* MonsterClown: The vibe given by his mask.
* OminousPipeOrgan: Summoned by his Noble Phantasm, Christine Christine: My Love Song Shall Surely Even Resound Through Hell. Made extra ominous by the fact that the pipe organ is constructed with the corpses of his past victims.
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: He's always referred to as the Phantom of the Opera, but it's confirmed in Shinjuku [[spoiler:by Christine's wraith]] that his name really ''is'' Erik.
* TheOphelia: Can be interpreted as a RareMaleExample particularly after his [[BishonenLine third accession]], as a result of both his Mental Pollution and penchant for singing at seemingly inappropriate times. It reaches its height in the Prison Tower Event as he sings of love before disappearing after being defeated.
* StrangeMindsThinkAlike: One of his Personal Skills, Mental Pollution, means he cannot understand or be understood by anyone without the same level of distorted mentality. He gets along with the Caster incarnation of Gilles de Rais for this reason.
* WolverineClaws: Gains rather gruesome ones in his stage two card, seeming as though his hands have been skinned and blades have been attached to the tips of his fingers. They are explicitly the result of his Innocent Monster skill, probably because he was at one point played by Creator/RobertEnglund.

->''"Assassin-class Servant. Name's Ryougi Shiki... Does this work as a greeting? I guess it is a weird one huh... I am a bit different, but I will beat the crap out of our enemies."''

The main protagonist of ''Kara no Kyoukai'', a woman with the Mystic Eyes of Death Perception. Shiki originally had both a male and female personality due to her upbringing as a member of the Ryougi clan. After recovering from a traumatic accident, Shiki discovers that she can no longer feel the her male personality's presence while also feeling an uncomfortable detachment from her memories before the accident. While she knows that she is Shiki, she does not ''feel'' that she is.

In the hopes of regaining her former identity, she puts on a cold façade that is somewhere between the thoughtful, quiet nature of the female persona and the blunt, dissolute male persona. Shiki is often very brusque, businesslike, and aloof, although she does reveal a much more human and compassionate side towards Kokutou Mikiya, her ex-classmate.

She debuted as your ally in Garden of Order and was the free Servant of the event, after becoming an UrbanLegend who roams the streets of Mifune city at night. Other Nasuverse works she appears in include her cameo as a BonusBoss in ''Fate/EXTRA'' as "MONSTER".
----
* ActionGirl: When a woman is a protagonist in a Nasuverse series, they're this.
* AllJustADream: She thinks her experience in Chaldea is this. It's for the best, she wouldn't take it well if she thought [[MoralityChain Mikiya]] was gone. And technically, she's not wrong...
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: She is dark-haired, beautiful and aloof.
* AngstySurvivingTwin: Though not a twin in the strictest sense, Shiki goes through something like this after she loses her male personality SHIKI.
* AnimalMotifs: Usually associated with cat and Mikiya also compares her to a rabbit. A KillerRabbit, to be precise.
** The black cat that she and Mikiya took care in ''extra chorus'' appears as event-exclusive currency.
** Her appearance in TYPE-MOON's 2013 AprilFools as the Decapitating Bunny appears as a Craft Essence.
* AntiHero: She's bloodthirsty, apathetic, cynical, and off-putting, but is ultimately a good friend to those who get to know her and willingly joins Chaldea to fight alongside the protagonist.
* ArtificialLimbs: [[spoiler:Her left arm is prosthetic, built by Aozaki Touko, her boss. Her original was twisted off by [[Characters/FateGrandOrderArchers Fujino Asagami]].]]
* AxCrazy: A mild case, but she's every bit the BloodKnight that she was in her own stories.
* BadassBoast: Spouts a variation of her boast to Fujino from ''Remaining Sense of Pain'' to Edmond Dantes.
-->'''Shiki:''' Even if something exists for millions of years, it's only the false impression of eternal youth that humans project on it. But all things possess the seed of destruction. There is nothing in the universe that is immutable for eternity. Get lost, vengeful demon. No matter how long or great a life is, as long as it has an end, I won't hesitate to kill even a god!
* {{Bifauxnen}}: Often described as both "handsome" and "beautiful," although she definitely possesses a very feminine figure in the movies. In the novel, she is described as looking and sounding fairly androgynous. In addition she uses [[UsefulNotes/JapanesePronouns aggressive masculine pronouns]] as part of the masculine persona she adapts to compensate for SHIKI's loss.
* BornInTheWrongCentury: Oh so very much. She might not show any desire to have been born in another century (or any desire, period, aside from the desire to kill, really), but:
** She's a warrior woman who only feels alive in a fight to the death.
** Her weapons of choice are the tanto (knife) and katana (sword).
** She wears a traditional kimono whenever possible.
** She barely uses any modern conveniences (the lights and refrigerator in her apartment, and a phone she doesn't actually use).
* BringMyRedJacket: And ''how''! Shorter than the usual BadassLongcoat, but it definitely counts.
* CastFromHitPoints: Her Yin-Yang skill causes her to take 1000 damage in exchange for up to a 30% increase in her NP gauge. She can't die from using the skill, however, and will be left at 1 HP if she's under 1000.
* ChefOfIron: Despite her incredibly basic diet, she is a good chef (as her tastes are so refined) and gives the player her own handmade chocolate for Valentine's.
* {{Combos}}: Both forms of Shiki's Mystic Eyes of Death Perception are clearly meant to be used in tandem with each other; the skill lowers enemy's resistance to Instant Death, the NP's Overcharge effect, while also boosting the power of Shiki's Arts Cards, including her NP.
* ComicallyMissingThePoint: In ''Garden of Order'' she takes offense to Mephistopheles comparing himself to her... because her knife is much better at cutting things than his scissors. The protagonist immediately lampshades that of all the reasons to be mad at being compared to [[MonsterClown Mephistopheles]], that's what sets her off.
* CoolBigSis: Despite her aloof nature, she is lonely and has an older sister complex on the inside, so she ends up taking care of those she takes a liking to.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Her irises are as black as her hair until she activates her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception.
* CuteAndPsycho: In reference to the anime fandom term ''yangire'', [[WordOfGod Nasu]] labels her as a ''tsungire''. For the non-Japanese speakers out there, [[{{Tsundere}} tsun]] means cold/aloof and gire means ''cut'', which indeed sums up her approach quite well.
* DeathGlare: As Mikiya says, "It's ''said'' that you can kill someone just by looking at them, but Shiki definitely has the potential."
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: As a result of both losing SHIKI and spending two years alone in a void during her coma, when she wakes up she struggles with a sense of emptiness and complete apathy towards everything. This is the main reason behind her cold, standoffish personality, as well as her taste for killing - fighting to the death is the only thing that makes her feel alive.
* {{Fangirl}}: Of Dr. Jekyll, as they're both killers with multiple personalities. Which is why she feels really disappointed that when she meets up with him, Hyde is the only personality active.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: Her presentation as a Servant mirrors the WordOfGod answer to whether or not Shiki can kill Servants - namely that she ''can'' cut their lines of death, but the difference in their physical parameters makes it nearly impossible to engage them head-on. Even as a Pseudo-Servant, Shiki manifests as an Assassin who's WeakButSkilled (see that trope below).
* GirlWithPsychoWeapon: Shiki and her obsession with knives, although she's much stronger when wielding a katana.
* {{Glamour}}: Slips in and out of the idea that she's the landlord of the apartment in "Garden of Order". She doesn't seem to realize that Mikiya is gone; which would be a big deal given his LivingEmotionalCrutch status.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: The Mystic Eyes of Death Perception glow visibly blue when she uses her Noble Phantasm.
* GrayEyes: Shiki has the cold/dangerous variety.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: The heroine of ''Kara no Kyoukai'' and some of her lines in the crossover event imply that she's already gone through most of the series' events. The addition of the playable [[Characters/FateGrandOrderArchers Fujino]] and Fujino's own lines heavily suggest that at the very least, "Panorama" and "Lingering Pain" have happened and she's experienced everything up to September 1998.
* KickingAssInAllHerFinery: Technically she does all her fighting in various kimonos.
* KimonoIsTraditional: She was raised in a very traditional household and wears a kimono underneath her favorite red jacket.
* KnifeNut: Unbelievably badass with it as well. Although she's pretty adept with the [[KatanasAreJustBetter katana]], as shown in [[spoiler:her fight against Araya Souren]].
* LadyOfWar: That beautiful form-fitting kimono is likely the last thing you'll ever see.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: Despite being the protagonist of her home series, she had many secrets which immediately given away in ''F/GO'' though her final profile tells the player to refer to ''Kara no Kyoukai'' light novels and anime for more details.
* LimitedWardrobe: She's only ever seen in her [[IconicOutfit blue kimono and red jacket]]. As she explains herself, she's not changing out of it, and outright wonders if changes in attire are a common thing amongst Servants that ascend.
* LossOfIdentity: After she wakes up from her two year coma, while Shiki knows she is "Ryougi Shiki", she does not feel that she is due to being unable to connect herself to the "her" from her memories and losing her split personality.
* MagicalEye: Her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception, which manifest themselves as Shiki's Noble Phantasm.
* MeaningfulName: ''Ryougi'' means "two equal sides of opposites", and while ''Shiki'' can be translated to "method" or "equation", it's more accurate to say that the name was derived from ''"shikigami"''. (And of course, ''"shikigami"'' can also mean ''death god''...)
* MySiblingWillLiveThroughMe: Though not an actual sibling, Shiki does something like this for her male personality by adopting his masculine behaviour and speech patterns after losing him.
* MythologyGag:
** At the event's Mission screen, she mentions her office, Garan no Dou, before quickly correcting herself.
** Her Stage 4 artwork is similar to her appearance at the first movie, ''Overlooking View'' [[spoiler:after her loss against Fujou Kirie.]]
** Her NP animation is based on her [[LimitBreak Arc-Drive]] from ''VideoGame/MeltyBlood'', and most of her other attack animations are based on her normal and special attacks from the same game.
** She thinks that Tawara Touta sounds like her ex-classmate as they share the same voice actor.
** Her My Room Dialogue has her commenting that something like this has [[VideoGame/FateExtra happened before.]] She likes this place better.
** She appears as a BonusBoss in SE.RA.PH as MONSTER after clearing all event missions, similar to her bonus boss status back in ''Fate/EXTRA''. [[spoiler:She turns into Saber Shiki after the first phase of the fight, paralleling how she had done so in ''Paradox Spiral'' after being sealed by Araya.]]
** When seeing Fujino, Shiki remarks that she still can't stand her.
* NobleDemon: Shiki has BlueAndOrangeMorality and loves to fight, but she has standards and a kind of sense of responsibility. She loves killing people who are worth killing, but dislikes killing those who won't effectively fight back.
* NotSoStoic: She's left utterly befuddled by the presence of Altria Lancer Alter during the Garden of Order event, first by the fact [[CoolHorse she's riding a horse indoors]], then by the fact [[BattleStrip she sheds off her armor to]] [[ItMakesSenseInContext convince the heroes she's not the mastermind]]. By the time the fight actually starts, she's ''glad'' because things were just getting so weird.
* OneHitKill: Her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception take the form of both a skill and a Noble Phantasm. The NP has a chance to inflict one of these, while the skill makes enemies' death rates plummet and allows the NP to succeed more easily.
* PrettyInMink: Her jacket has a fur collar.
* RaisedAsTheOppositeGender: Shiki was raised as a male to be a suitable heir to the [[{{Yakuza}} family business]], although Shiki herself was never really into it, especially after her male personality died and she met Mikiya, leaving her household to live by herself in an apartment.
* ReadingsAreOffTheScale: Her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception are an EX-ranked Noble Phantasm[[note]]as a skill, they're ranked A[[/note]].
* SemanticSuperpower: Her Mystic Eyes of Death Perception allow her to kill anything that's "alive" by tracing its lines of death. This isn't limited to living beings, since anything can be "alive" for as long as it is concrete and functional. Be they objects like telephone poles or abstract concepts like predestinated futures and the telekinetic spirals of Fujino's Mystic Eyes of Distortion. It does have limits though, and something that has already been destroyed may not have Lines of Deaths for her to cut.
* ShesGotLegs: Her Stage 4 artwork shows off her legs.
* SplitPersonality: To a much more complicated degree than usual. It's not that they're a single personality that was split - they were always separate entities that happened to occur in the same body. The Ryougi Clan has the supernatural ability of dual personalities, which resulted in Shiki having both a (dominant) female side and a male side. The male's personality is carefree with a free-radical nature and [[UsefulNotes/GenderAndJapaneseLanguage talks like a guy]], while the female's is brooding and uses {{Keigo}}. The male personality ''disappearing'' is what has actually messed Shiki up some.
* TheStoic: Shiki usually has the same bored expression on her face. Her disinterest in other human beings started it, but it's [[spoiler:her connection to the Root]] that made her empty.
* ThemeMusicPowerup: Her theme from the movie series plays when she uses her NP. More specifically, it's the M12+M13 variation from ''Overlooking View''.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: For such a {{tomboy}}, Shiki likes to wear fancy kimonos. Also, she at first says she doesn't like ice cream since [[RealMenHateSugar her male personality loathes it]], but it eventually becomes her favourite snack. Also she's a [[ChefOfIron good cook because her tastes are so high-class]].
* TomboyishName: The "Shiki" in Ryougi Shiki is a neutral name.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Haagen-dasz strawberry ice cream and mineral water, both of which serve as event-exclusive currency.
* {{Tsundere}}: Don't let her stoic expressions fool you, she still displays this kind of personality in the game, although we only see her "tsun" mode for most of her screentime. Her "dere" side appears ''very briefly''' when she gives you a Valentine chocolate of appreciation.
* UrbanLegends: She's one of Mifune City's, which is the explanation for why she's a Servant.
* UselessUsefulSpell: The OneHitKill aspect of her Noble Phantasm can be godsend against EliteMooks since their resistance to Instant Death is relatively low. However, it's utterly worthless against most Servant bosses since their instant death resistance is jacked up to the point that it's nearly impossible to land it against them[[note]]If a player ''[[RandomNumberGod is that lucky]]'' it CAN happen; it's just that you might even be more likely to summon a gold Servant otherwise[[/note]]. That said, the Noble Phantasm still does hefty damage, ignores defense buffs, and can be brought to [=NP5=] relatively easily, meaning that it's far from useless even against these enemies.
* WeakButSkilled: Overall, this is how she's being presented both in-game and through her Servant stats - she's only got E-rank Strength, and her ATK is on the lower end of the spectrum amongst 4-star Servants. However, she makes up for this by having a good Arts focus which allows her to build up her OneHitKill Noble Phantasm fairly easily, and can use skills to both boost its success rate and gain NP gauge. Even if the OneHitKill effect doesn't occur, her NP damage at NP lv 5 is quite high.
* YouRemindMeOfX: When the Protagonist says that they are helping the captured Servants in The Garden of Order, despite it being irrelevant to their mission, because they don't want to see them suffering, Shiki says they remind her of Mikiya.
* YourMindMakesItReal: The Garden of Order event's singularity and plot were created from a dream of hers, which suspended her mind at the moment right before the incineration of Earth killed her. Because the Shiki in the event is her mind rather than her dying body, she can leave the self-created singularity and join Chaldea as a Pseudo-Servant without a legend.

->''"I am Sasaki Kojirou, an Assassin-class Servant. And I have been called upon your service."''

A swordsman described as a worthy rival of one of Japan's prominent master swordsmen: Miyamoto Musashi. Sasaki was heralded as a genius of swordsmanship who mastered the Ganryuu school of swordplay at a young age.

However, in the Franchise/{{Nasuverse}}, "Sasaki Kojirou" was actually a fictional character; a blended conglomeration of stories about various swordsmen who fought against Musashi. As it is impossible for the Throne of Heroes to contain the soul of a fictional person, the "Sasaki Kojirou" summoned here is actually the person who is closest to the descriptions of Kojirou: a nameless swordsman from a humble farmstead who created the legendary "Swallow Reversal" technique attributed to Kojirou's legend. However, this restriction has been loosened due to the unique circumstances of the Grand Order and Chaldea's FATE system, allowing him to be summoned as a regular Servant.

The "real" Sasaki Kojirou appears as "Nameless Saber" in Shimosa.

----
* AchievementsInIgnorance: As seen below, he managed to somehow access Second Magic without knowing any magecraft or True Magic, just by practicing a lot.
* AffablyEvil: Even if he's somewhat snarky, he's always polite and has respect for his opponent.
* AnimationBump: He got much more fluid animations after Shimosa's release, which were first previewed by his "Nameless" Saber incarnation.
* ArtEvolution: [[spoiler:The Saber Kojirou fought in Shimosa is illustrated by Takeuchi]] and shows off various moves that would later be added to the playable version's repertoire.
* TheArtifact: His identity as a "fake" Servant. In ''Fate/stay night'', he was outright stated to be a fake because Sasaki Kojirou is a fictional character whose existence cannot be proven. This has since been undermined with the addition of Servants with similar origins such as Jekyll, Phantom of the Opera, and Sherlock Holmes who are acknowledged as coming from fictional works but aren't considered fake Servants for varying reasons [[labelnote: Note]]Jekyll and Phantom are considered to be the basis for the characters in ''Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde'' and ''The Phantom of the Opera'' respectively, and Holmes' origins are deliberately left ambiguous as to whether or not he's a fictional character or is a real person whose adventures were recorded by Dr. John Watson.[[/labelnote]]. [[spoiler: His "fake" status is made even more ridiculous with the introduction of the "real" Sasaki Kojirou from Musashi's home AlternateUniverse who turns out to be the ''exact same person'' as the fake Sasaki, right down to wielding Monohoshizao]].
* AscendedMeme: Most players started to jokingly call him [[FanNickname "Dragonslayer", "Savior Of France" and "REGEND"]] (the last one due to a typo in his Interlude's name), due to the reasons stated [[ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman below]]. Then, the Moon Goddess event came, with a plot written by [[WordOfGod Nasu]] himself. And he appears in a "[[TheDragonslayer dragonslayer]] meeting" in France, together with Saint Georgios, the most known dragon-killer in the western world, and Saint Martha, who calls herself a dragonslayer in her Interlude and tamed Tarasque. And he seems to be after that exact dragon, something Martha doesn't take well. Nasu notes in an interview that he's glad the meme came about since that allows Kojirou to have a role in comedic events since he didn't have any plans for him in the main story. His animation update PV even uses a wyvern as a target dummy.
* BadassNormal: Sasaki Kojirou never existed, so "this guy's" real identity is a random swordsman who was skilled enough to be a stand-in for a legendary hero. His Tsubame-gaeshi is a perfect example of this. He gained the ability to perform three simultaneous sword slashes by practicing a lot.
* BalanceBuff: He has received two so far, the first one being an upgrade to his third skill, massively improving the rate at which it generates stars, and adding in a star absorption effect to guarantee efficiency, and the second one being an upgrade to his Noble Phantasm, which improves its damage ''and'' boosts his Quick performance for 3 turns before he strikes, making him a surprisingly good damage dealer for a mere 1 star Servant.
* BeyondTheImpossible: Obtained Tsubame Gaeshi through nothing but sheer grit, hard work, and flawless technique, giving him access to a version of the Second Magic without ever learning of magecraft in life. [[spoiler:At the end of the Shimosa singularity, the clash between him and Musashi is so profound that space-time basically implodes around them and they would have fought for eternity if not for the protagonist being there to see the fight.]]
* {{BFS}}: His katana, Monohoshizao is 170cm[[note]]about 5ft 7in[[/note]] long. To put it in perspective, his sword is ''longer'' than most of the female servants are tall.[[note]]As of this edit, the only female Servants who are taller than Monohoshizao are: Quetzalcoatl (181cm), Raiko (175cm), Boudica (174 cm), Caster of Midrash (173 cm), Brynhild, Fran, and Medusa (all 172 cm), Anne Bonny (171 cm), and probably the Lancer versions of Altria (171 cm?)[[/note]]
* {{Bishonen}}: This man is really pretty with his slim, long hair and feminine face.
* BloodKnight: Sasaki has no wish nor any particularly strong dislikes. All he has is the satisfaction he gets from fighting a WorthyOpponent.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Tsubame-gaeshi. While acknowledging that cutting a swallow out of the air would be impossible, he just kept practicing and eventually, he got it to work. The final version of the technique somehow intruded into the territory of not magecraft but dimensional distortion magic.
* CompositeCharacter: Assassin is the person closest to the being known as "Sasaki Kojirou". This makes him a combination of three people: he's a samurai who could perform Tsubame-gaeshi, he has the name Sasaki Kojirou, and finally he wields Monohoshizao. In the Nasuverse, these were attributes of three different people. [[spoiler: Nevertheless, there are at least two alternate versions who do exist on their own: one from Musashi's home AlternateUniverse and the other in the AlternateUniverse of ''EOR'' 3.]]
* CrutchCharacter: As much as he's useful in the earlier parts of the game (see MemeticBadass and ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman below), his being a bronze-rarity Servant means he'll always be overpowered by the other Servants during the later stages of the game.
* DeliberateValuesDissonance: His profile notes that he's pretty callous when it comes to death, since he lived in a time when it was more common. That said, he also believes all who kill are evil, himself included.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: A big-time believer in this trope. He may disappear, but he ''will'' have an honourable duel with the ultimate swordsman first.
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:As a Saber, he is the last opponent you face in Shimosa Province as a DuelBoss with Musashi.]]
* GlassCannon: His defining sword technique is an instant kill attack if all three blows land. On the defensive side he has no armor, an "E" rating in toughness, and dies more or less instantly if struck even once.
* HandsomeLech: To the point of flirting while battling, even though he does admit that he isn't very lucky with the ladies.
* HeroOfAnotherStory: Subverted. He's mostly absent for the second part of "Chaldea Summer 2016" after falling overboard while the protagonists are at sea only to show up at the very end of the main story alongside Karna. The boar piglets believe that the two of them were off on [[LampshadeHanging some fantastic adventure that nobody will ever know about]]. They were actually working as Beowulf's gatekeepers after he fished them out of the sea and only appear in Martha's sidequest.
* JustForPun: His grouping with ''Saint'' Martha and ''Saint'' Georgios is due to his status as a "Sword ''Saint''" as well.
* LethalJokeCharacter: His CrutchCharacter status notwithstanding, many strategically-creative players continue to use him through maxing out his skills and utilizing him to full effect. With Palingenesis/Grail Ascension, his usage skyrocketed once again amongst those who favor him to this day.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: He hits basically every check mark for this.
* MasterSwordsman: He's a better swordsman than Altria and under ideal conditions can beat her in a straight fight, though this does require him to have the high ground, a narrow combat arena and for Altria to be barred from using her Noble Phantasms. [[spoiler: The Kojirou fought as the FinalBoss in Shimosa is even more of a master as he mastered "emptiness".]]
* MythologyGag: His updated animation comes from ''Fate/unlimited codes'' with some of ufotable's ''UBW'' motions thrown in the mix (most notably his sword handle strike and NP animation).
* NobleDemon: He seems to be okay with his evil image, but when he makes a deal he sticks to it and even defends apparent enemies against those who would interfere with the deal.
* NotSoAboveItAll: The entire reason he opposes the protagonist as [[PaperThinDisguise Island Mask]] in the first summer event is because he simply wanted to get in on all the summer antics, but since he didn't get a swimsuit variant for the event, he knew he'd never be able to unless he tried something silly.
* PaperThinDisguise: His Island Mask persona during "Chaldea Summer 2016", which consists of him simply wearing Mozart's mask. Everybody immediately realizes it's him despite his protests.
* PostFinalBoss: [[spoiler:By the time you fight him in Shimosa, the day's already been saved, with Caster Limbo's plans in tatters and Amakusa's castle burning down from Muramasa's final attack. All that's left is for him and Musashi to get the duel they've always wanted. Consequently, Saber Kojiro is much easier than all the bosses fought before him, with only a single HP bar and a difficulty level more akin to the bosses from Okeanos and London (though this is also due to the fact you're only allowed to use Musashi, and a more difficult boss against a single Servant would just be unfair).]]
* {{Samurai}}: Supposed to be the archenemy to Miyamoto Musashi, complete with the samurai robe, katana and samurai hair. By Stage 3, however, he seems to dispose of it and adopt a more casual, {{Ronin}}-like look--like the anonymous swordsman he actually was in life.
* SamuraiPonytail: Kojirou has very polite speech patterns, if a bit flirty. Similarly, his long hair matches his samurai outlook emphasizing grace.
* SimultaneousBladeSpam: Before he became Servant Assassin, he created Tsubame-gaeshi, a sword technique that twists dimensions so that he can strike from three directions at the same time. He did this by swinging his sword. A lot. And kept doing so with utter determination until [[BeyondTheImpossible reality essentially gave up]] and granted him what he wanted, via partial access to "[[AnotherDimension multi-dimension refraction phenomenon]]", known also as the Second Magic.[[note]]AKA a fragment of the same magic that ''Zelretch used to kill the Crimson Moon'' and took ''six generations'' for Rin's family to finally replicate the Jewel Sword that has the same ability.[[/note]] It's for this reason that his technique is called an "infinite sword" due to being able to manifest multiple possibilities at once and thus multiple "correct answers" in contrast to his rival Musashi, who collapses all possibilities into a single outcome.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: He's a mainstay of many teams during the first Singularity of the game, Orleans, due to being a fairly common summon from the Friend Point gacha and thus quick to raise to NP level 5, easy to train up, and getting [[TacticalRockPaperScissors bonus damage]] on the multitudes of [[DemonicSpiders dragons]] that populate the level.
* UnusualEyebrows: For some reason, his eyebrows ''fork''.
* WeakButSkilled: He's only a 1* Servant, the lowest rank, but his deck setup allows him to do Quick Brave chains to rack up critical hit stars ''very'' quickly. His Noble Phantasm is also a Quick attack, letting it chain together with his moves for even greater effect, and eventually gets a buff to its damage ''and'' an effect that boosts Quick card performance for three turns..
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: As is common for this series.

->''"Servant Assassin, Scáthach. I have arrived. Ah, this is a summer outfit. Or is it a beach outfit? Well, it doesn't change me from being me. Looking forward to working with you, Master."''

The queen of the foreign haunted ground called the Land of Shadows and mentor of warriors. For this occasion, she carried out a reckless deed of changing herself and several other female Servants into swimsuits all under the guise of adapting to the environment. She is no different from the normal Scathach... or so they thought, but after adapting to the beach, she's slightly more excited than usual.

An alternate version of Scathach that debuted in Chaldea Summer 2016. She is the prize Servant for clearing the event.
----
* BarelyThereSwimwear: Her swimsuit shows a more than generous amount of cleavage, and at several point it looks like being painted on instead of being worn.
* BerserkButton: ''Don't ever call her old.'' Cu Chulainn and Mordred both learnt this the hard way during the event.
* BladeOnAStick: She uses Gaé Bolg in some of her attack animations, including her Noble Phantasm.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Her Final Ascension art has her laying in shallow water showing them off while surrounded by her weapons.
* CriticalHitClass: She spits out a decent chunk of Critical Stars despite her relatively low Presence Concealment level, especially if she lands her Noble Phantasm on a full wave of enemies with her 50% Quick bonus from Midsummer Mistake. If she gets some of these Critical Stars with her average Star absorption, her Beach Crisis taunt skill is packed with a one-turn 50% critical damage bonus.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Her profile notes that unlike "Beach Flower" which only affects males, "Beach Crisis" affects ''everyone'', regardless of their "domain of yearning."
* FisherKing: Takes over the domain of the Summer Island; meaning she can shape the island itself (provided you get the materials), and create new classes for Servants on the island with her rune-craft. [[spoiler: This is because the Summer Island ''is'' her domain; the Island of Skye from the Land of Shadow that survived the Incineration of Mankind.]]
* FlowerInHerHair: She has a pink hibiscus flower in her hair.
* KnifeNut: She handles long-ranged fights with throwing daggers.
* LapPillow: She says in her level 5 bond line that she'd like the protagonist to use her thighs as a pillow, as an apology for nearly having them devoured by the Curruid during her TrainingFromHell.
* MaleGaze: Her Beach Crisis A+ skill is quite literally the ability to get stared at by everyone who can see her. There is a risk that the beach will fall into chaos just because Scathach is walking around. My Room dialogue reveals that she's actually quite irked with this as she cannot even walk around Chaldea without getting gazes from every man she passes. She's particularly annoyed about Fergus and even Cu being unable to tear their eyes away. The exception to her frustration is the protagonist who is still being cautious with where they're looking after her fourth ascension. Her reaction to this is suggest that they ought to be used to it by now, only to coyly chuckle when she notices they're most certainly ''not''.
* MultiMeleeMaster: Fitting for a warrior famous for her skill with countless weapons, Scathach shows off many, many different weapons in her various attacks, from throwing knives to swords to three-section staves to a spear she tosses with her feet.
* MsFanservice: Now wearing a ''very'' revealing swimsuit. ''Even Blackbeard'' thinks she's sexy with it on.
* OneHitKill: Her Noble Phantasm, despite being AOE, actually has a low chance of insta-kill when overcharged. Pair her up with other Servants / Assassins who can cast debuffs to decrease Magic Resistance (such as fellow Assassins Shuten-douji, Shiki and King Hassan) and it can actually trigger frequently.
* SpontaneousWeaponCreation: Not only can Scathach create multiple Gae Bolgs, she can make a three-section staff version. She can also create darts, daggers, a sword and a bow and arrow.
* StealthExpert: Averted. Her Presence Concealment is only ranked E, which is pretty low for the Assassin class. It might have something to do with the MaleGaze above.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Her NP is Cu Chulainn's "Soaring Spear that Strikes with Death" but this time instead of throwing it, she kicks it into it the enemy.
* TomatoInTheMirror: She takes over the domain of the Summer Island and spends a good part of the first leg of Chaldea Summer 2016 criticizing whatever entity is supposed to be acting as the island's guardian for how bad they've allowed things to become. [[spoiler: It turns out the island is actually the Island of Skye from the Land of Shadows, meaning that the missing guardian she's been insulting is herself. She's less than thrilled when she finally realizes this]].
* TrainingFromHell: During her Bond lines, she describes taking her master on a number of brutal training expeditions, involving incredible feats of endurance in swimming and running, once chased by a hungry Curruid.
* WalkingSwimsuitScene: Even after the event, this version of her will still be running around in a swimsuit. She actually can't return any of the swimsuit Servants to their normal form because she forgot the runes for undoing it.
* AWizardDidIt: Her rune magic is the HandWave for pretty much anything that happens in the event. Why did all the female Servants suddenly get swimsuits and switch classes? Rune magic. How were they able to build things like a sports stadium or rail tracks on the island? Rune magic. How did Scathach reset the island back to its original state at the end of the event story? Rune magic. It makes a fair bit more sense when you know [[spoiler:that the island is actually a part of the Land of Shadows that survived the incineration of humanity. Of course she'd hold power over her own domain.]]

->''"Servant, Assassin. Now then... First, prepare a throne. We will talk only after that. If you have none then it cannot be helped, instead you should serve as the chair."''

The Wise Queen of Assyria. A demi-goddess born to the goddess Derketo and a human man, then abandoned as a baby by her mother because of her half-human heritage. She married her first love, an old general named Onnes, only to be abducted by the Syrian king Ninus after he became smitten with her beauty; in the aftermath, Onnes committed suicide. Semiramis would be wed to Ninus after impressing him with her military strategies and cunning, only to poison him and seize the throne. This is one of the oldest records of murder via poisoning in human history, giving Semiramis the reputation of "the original poisoner". During her prosperous reign as queen, Semiramis gained renown for her commissioning of public buildings and feats of architecture, to the point where her legend is (erroneously) associated with the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, one of the Seven Wonders Of The Ancient World.

Semiramis is an exceedingly rare "Double Summon", allowing her to simultaneously possess skills which are normally exclusive to the Assassin and Caster classes, such as the Assassin's "Presence Concealment" and the Caster's "Territory Creation".

She made her debut in ''LightNovel/FateApocrypha'' as "Assassin of Red". She was introduced in ''Grand Order'' as the limited SSR for the third Valentine's Day event.

----
* AbsenceMakesTheHeartGoYonder: Despite retaining her memories of when she fell in love with Amakusa, she does not rekindle a relationship with him, as she believes that the feelings her ''Apocrypha'' self developed for Amakusa belong to that version of her and have nothing to do with her current self.
* ArtEvolution: The appearance of Bašmu she can summon are based on its appearance in ''LightNovel/FateApocrypha'' and a lot different from those appearing in Babylonia which is only a blue-and-gold PaletteSwap of dragon-type monster.
* BalanceBuff: Her Noble Phantasm received a buff in February 2019 that in addition to a damage increase gave it the new effect of increasing allies' resistance to buff removal skills for one turn. This makes her much better as a support unit since she can make sure her allies maintain their buffs better.
* BareYourMidriff: From her third Ascension onwards.
* BeamSpam: Her Quick cards have her summon a series of the floating stone attachments from her Hanging Gardens that fire lasers.
* TheBeastmaster: In-story, her second Noble Phantasm, Sikera Ušum, can summon any Phantasmal Beast related to poison. Among them, the most powerful is the Bašmu, one of the Divine Beasts spawned by Tiamat, a Beast-class Servant. She summons its head as part of her Buster attack.
* ChainPain: Her Arts and Extra cards have her summon purple-black chains to whip and stab her targets.
* DefrostingTheIceQueen: Right from the get go Semiramis treats the protagonist with disdain, as if they were the Servant in their relationship. But she basically confesses to the protagonist by her final Ascension and her Bond Level 5 dialogue, [[{{Tsundere}} even if it is in a very roundabout way]].
* EeriePaleSkinnedBrunette: Pale skin, dark hair, very beautiful, but also possesses a dangerous nature.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: If you have Shakespeare, since they were both [[LightNovel/FateApocrypha Red Faction Servants]], Semiramis immediately warns you of [[MindRape what he would do to you]] and opts to create a poison to kill him before he betrays you.
* GameplayAndStoryIntegration: The Buster Down effect of her third skill (Sikera Ušum) is party-wide--which fits very neatly with the fact that nearly all of the Red Faction Servants[[note]]those being [[Characters/FateGrandOrderSabers Mordred]], [[Characters/FateGrandOrderLancers Karna]], [[Characters/FateGrandOrderCasters Shakespeare]], [[Characters/FateGrandOrderBerserkers Spartacus]] and of course [[Characters/FateGrandOrderExtra Shirou]][[/note]] available in-game have AreaOfEffect Buster Noble Phantasms. This means running a team of Semiramis with them as wave-clearers is actually serviceable.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: She's described as "nearly powerless" outside of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but she's perfectly capable of kicking ass here with the right party.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: Few reliable historical records remain from the era where the historical Semiramis was from, making it difficult to discern fact from fiction. The historical Semiramis likely did ''not'' murder Ninus with poison to seize the throne: this narrative was popularised by an play by the 18th century French playwright Voltaire, who wrote "Semiramis: A Tragedy" as a political intrigue story. If anything, Semiramis appears to have been a successful ruler who was positively regarded by her citizens. ''Fate'' acknowledges the historical ambiguity to an extent, noting that there is no evidence to suggest Semiramis built the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, but her renown for constructing architectural wonders has nevertheless attached the Gardens to her legend.
* HomeFieldAdvantage: When she's inside the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, she becomes immensely powerful, however in game whenever she uses it the Garden appears and blasts her current enemy.
* HotWitch: Despite being an Assassin her Magecraft can rival fellow magi of the Age of Gods like Medea and Circe, and she is, without mincing words, ''very'' beautiful.
* HumanMomNonhumanDad: Inverted - her mother was the mermaid goddess Derketo, and her father was a human man.
* LadyOfBlackMagic: Due to being a rare "Double Summon", even as an Assassin she still has powerful Magecraft skill.
* LapPillow: For Amakusa in the The Moment of Peace Craft Essence artwork.
* LethalChef: Literally. The chocolates she makes for you for Valentine's Day are filled with deadly poison like the tetrodotoxin in pufferfish (which can cause paralysis, suffocation, and death) and the nauseating hallucinogenic poison found in the Fly Amanita mushroom. Due to the protagonist's poison resistance, they're the only ones who can enjoy them without side effects, though they do find several of the chocolates numbing and disorienting. Semiramis takes the time to enjoy them with you, but even she gets sick of them after a time.
-->'''Semiramis:''' Nutrition and medicine are both a mere step away from poison. The same can be said for deliciousness.
* MasterPoisoner: Her second Noble Phantasm, Sikera Ušum: Arrogant King's Alcohol, works as her third skill and poisons all enemies for three turns. The effect is very token and weak, but it also carries a Buster Down effect that effectively makes it the best party damage buff in the game. In-story, it's based on the fact that Semiramis' legend is the oldest recorded story of someone murdering another by poisoning them.
* MechanicallyUnusualFighter: Despite being classed as an Assassin, Semiramis's status as a rare "Double Summon" in canon translates to acting more like [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration a Caster wearing an Assassin's skin]]. She has three Arts cards and the Caster's class skill of Territory Creation and Item Construction, and her skills' effect (NP charge and generation, lowering Buster resistance) have more in common with a Caster. Her Double Summon skill even allows her to ignore the [[TacticalRockPaperScissors class advantage]] of Casters on Assassins for three turns.
* MegaTwintails: She ties her extremely long hair to huge twintails when she ascends.
* MsFanservice: She has the biggest bust out of the Servants from ''Fate/Apocrypha'', and wears a low-cut dress. By her third Ascension, she's practically wearing a bikini on her upper body. She uses sex and seduction as a weapon, which is why she ended up falling for Amakusa. He didn't even seem to notice that she was attractive and focused entirely on her actual abilities.
* MundaneUtility: During the third Valentine's Day event, she used the Hanging Gardens as her own chocolate factory, complete with cacao farm and a chocolate fountain.
* NoHonorAmongThieves: While they were once allies, she heartily recommends that the protagonist kill off Shakespeare as soon as possible because she believes him to be more trouble than he's worth.
* NoblewomansLaugh: Lets out quite a hearty one when she uses her Noble Phantasm.
* OdangoHair: On her second ascension.
* PointyEars: Like Medea and Circe, she has long pointy ears. It seems to be an Age Of Gods' magus thing.
* PoisonIsEvil: Her alignment is LawfulEvil and poison is her favorite weapon.
* RapunzelHair: The novel illustration version (by Ototsugu Konoe) got this even more than the one in the material book version (by Shizuki Morii). It's so long that it ''[[UpToEleven drags along the ground!]]''
* RedBaron: The Wise Queen of Assyria. Also, the less flattering, "World's Oldest Poisoner".
* SemiDivine: Her mother was divine, her father wasn't.
* SquareRaceRoundClass: Canonically as a result of her Double Summon skill, she's essentially an Assassin with the magical might of a Caster at her disposal, referenced by possessing Presence Concealment, Territory Creation, and Item Construction all at once. In-game, her Double Summon skill lets her give the middle finger to the class triangle by ignoring Casters' advantage over Assassins to hit them neutrally while maintaining the Assassins' advantage over Riders.
* SummonMagic: She can summon Divine Beasts like the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basmu basmu]], as they have anecdotes connecting them to poison. Her Buster cards allow her to use their claws to rend her foes or the head to unleash its poisonous BreathWeapon.
* SweetTooth: One of the Pigeon Reports during 2018 Valentine's Day event reveals one of her "secrets" that she loves chocolate.
* {{Tsundere}}: Much like she was in Apocrypha towards Shirou, Semiramis implies that she is in love with the protagonist but her love is like having a cup that might or might not have poison in it; of course much like Apocrypha she is no longer sincere with her threats.
* UrExample: She's considered the first poisoner.
* WaveMotionGun: Her Noble Phantasm is summoning the Hanging Garden of Babylon from afar, where she commands it to fire FrickingLaserBeams into all enemies at the point of her finger.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Apparently she´s similar to Mordred´s mother, Morgan Le Fay.

->''"Assassin, Shuten-Douji. Fufu,. Please accept my gratitude for summoning me. I will do as I please but, you don't mind, do you?"''

One of Japan's Three Great Calamities who governed over the oni in the Heian period from a castle in Mt. Ooe. There are various theories on Shuten-douji's origins and who she is; what is known is that she is the child of [[{{Orochi}} Yamata no Orochi]] and shares a background with Sakata Kintoki.

Her connection with Sakata Kintoki dates back to his youth. Since he was easy to tease, she often played with him. As far as Shuten was concerned, those times were nothing but drinking bouts. For Kintoki they were like devil's banquets that would kill him if he dropped his guard.

She debuted as a limited Servant in the Rashoumon event. In ''Epic of Remnant'', she appears in Shimosa as Samghata Naraka Berserker, one of the Seven Swordsmen summoned by Shirou Amakusa.
----
* AffablyEvil: In Onigashima, you find her just having a good time, bossing around lesser oni and getting plastered, but she's ''still'' a man eating monster. Kintoki also mentions that while she could display refined behaviour, she was still an Oni to the core.
* AlmightyJanitor: She was the mightiest oni on Ibaraki's mountain, but spent a lot of time time mooching off of her cousin and leaving on her own to snack on some humans whenever she got bored.
* AnchoredShip: Setsubon implies that she limits herself to flirting with Kintoki because she's unsure as to whether an actual relationship between a human and an oni can even work out. She tries to ask Tomoe about her mixed heritage to see if her oni and human ancestors were happy together, but Tomoe doesn't know that much about her family.
* AnythingThatMoves: With her Intoxicating Aroma of Fruits skill, she can charm anything, even monsters.
* {{Archenemy}}: Raikou, based on her My Room line and their shared history. This is because they're competing for Kintoki's affection and [[ACupAngst apparently Shuten's jealous of her assets.]]
-->'''Shuten:''' Ugh, no, no, no. I can’t stand the stench of cows and spoiled milk. What are you trying to prove by being so [[GagBoobs huge and firm?]] Middle-aged hags should just retire!
* BalanceBuff: She received a Strengthening Quest for her Noble Phantasm with the release of the Kyoumafu 2018 banner, which improves the damage and applies the Toxic debuff, which amplifies poison damage similar to Hassan of Serenity.
* {{BFS}}: Her blade in her final forms is longer than she is tall and would still be enormous in the hands of her adult self.
* BigDamnHeroes: She dies in the process, but she manages to ambush Ushi Gozen despite her claims that she'd already killed Shuten earlier and gives the protagonist and Kintoki the opening they needed to finish Gozen.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: As Kintoki points out she might come across as rotten to humans, but from an oni perspective she was chivalrous in her own way and a natural leader.
* BoyishShortHair: She's a hard drinking, hard fighting, oni girl with a TwentiesBobHaircut. Also, she's based on the mythical Shuten-Douji, who was a boy.
* ChekhovsSkill: Near the end of the Onigashima event Raikou beheads Ibaraki and disembowels Shuten before going completely berserk. When things are looking particularly hopeless, a not quite dead Shuten-douji attacks Raikou and injures her enough for the protagonist's group to take her out. She disappears almost immediately afterward because the only thing keeping her going was her A+ Battle Continuation.
* DaddysLittleVillain: Her climactic boss fight in ''Epic of Remnant'' involves you fighting her and her father who just happens to be ''[[{{Orochi}} Yamata no Orochi]]''.
* {{Determinator}}: Her Battle Continuation skill came from the story that her severed head assaulted Raikou, but was thwarted by a seven-layered helmet provided by god (even then, she broke through six layers).
* DoesNotLikeShoes: More like ''[[ShamelessFanserviceGirl Does Not Like Anything]]''. Her feet are just as exposed as nearly everything else, only wearing a pair of extremely loose barefoot sandals.
* DragonAncestry: She's the offspring of the Yamata no Orochi, probably the most famous Japanese dragon, which had the appearance of a giant eight headed snake. As a result she has the rare dragon trait.
* DualBoss: In Shimosa, she is fought along with Orochi once and with Kalasutra Naraka Rider (Raikou) twice.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Her Intoxicating Aroma of Fruits skill can charm female enemies.
* ExcuseMeWhileIMultitask: Will roll into battle carrying sake, a plate of fruit, and generally not giving much of a damn. Her third ascension simply drops the fruit in favor of a paper lantern and an actual weapon (albeit with a gourd of sake attached under the hilt).
* AFormYouAreComfortableWith: It is implied that Shuten's true form isn't this cute. She's one of Japan's Three Great Calamities, after all.
* GargleBlaster: Her sake even serves as her Noble Phantasm, Multicolored Poison - ''Shinpen Kidoku''[[note]]Divine Demon Poison[[/note]]. It glows, emits rainbow-colored smoke, and merely touching it inflicts a vast majority of the game's status effects. In fact, in the original myth, the sake was specifically brewed to act as an anti-oni drink, oni being notorious for heavy drinking.
* GenderFlip: From male to female.
* GenerationXerox: Like her father, Orochi, she was made vulnerable to assassination after ingesting poisoned alcohol.
* GoOutWithASmile: She kept smiling even when Kintoki beheaded her, even getting off a few words.
* HardDrinkingPartyGirl: The hardest drinker of an entire species of alcoholics. [[MeaningfulName Her name even means "liquor child"]].
* HasAType: Handsome, fashionable men ([[AnachronismStew she even uses the term 'ikemen' as a pre-battle quote]]), especially if they have blond hair and blue eyes (Kintoki, basically).
* HeroicSacrifice: During Onigashima Shuten survives long enough to strike Ushi Gozen while she's distracted to give Kintoki the opening he needs to finish her off with his Noble Phantasm.
* HighlyVisibleNinja: Her Presence Concealment is ranked at C, but she's not the kind to bother with stealth.
* HornedHumanoid: As one of the oni.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: With Kintoki. She's 145cm while Kintoki's 190cm, making her well under a full head shorter than him.
* ImAHumanitarian: She and Ibaraki-douji are man-eaters, and she's sure that she will be hunted someday because of this.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: Her first two forms use her food-and-drink saucers as weaponry.
* InkSuitActor: Apparently, Shuten-douji was designed by Raita based on [[http://kamenrider.wikia.com/wiki/Aoi_Yuki Shuten's]] [[Creator/AoiYuuki voice actress]] -- they have the same hair and height. Aoi is on record commenting on this very fact while and noting that despite these similarities the prospect of her cosplaying as Shuten is a dangerous idea.
* InterplayOfSexAndViolence: Subverted. While Shuten loves a nice duel every now and then, she's quietly frustrated that fighting is the only physically intimate activity she can engage Kintoki in due to his prudish shyness. Whenever the innuendo of their clashes comes to the surface, the man clams up and ruins the moment.
* KansaiRegionalAccent: She speaks in a sultry, breathy variant of the Kyoto dialect. With good reason, as her home of Mount Ooe is located in Kansai, in Kyoto prefecture.
* LightningBruiser: Brings in the spectacular physical power of a high-rank oni to a class mostly known as the FragileSpeedster class. Her Presence Concealment is, however, rather low-ranked, as she doesn't really need to sneak as much as the other Assassins.
* MeatgrinderSurgery: In Shimosa, she manages to have just enough control over herself to help you out by fixing their messed-up Magic Circuits. Which she does by ramming her hand into their stomach and playing with their intestines.
* MixAndMatchWeapon: Her weapon of choice when finally serious enough to fight correctly is a greatsword with another gourd of sake attached under the hilt.
* NotMeThisTime: The protagonist runs into her and Ibaraki drinking and hanging out with other oni at Onigashima, but despite this being the island of onis and her being their boss, she's actually unrelated to what's going on. Sure, she's been handing out booze and getting Servants like Ushiwakamaru and Kiyohime super drunk, but that's basically just her having fun.
* OurDragonsAreDifferent: She's the daughter of [[{{Orochi}} Yamata no Orochi]], which is the source of both her [[SemiDivine Divine]] and Dragon attributes.
* ParentalSubstitute: She's basically Ibaraki-douji's mother, which causes her to get laughed at during her event because it was way too sentimental for an oni.
* PintSizedPowerhouse: She's only 145cm, yet according to Kintoki she always forced a draw with him in every fight they had, be they spars, bets, or serious life-or-death battles.
* RetiredMonster: She's clearly unrepentant for her earlier bouts of man-eating and slaughter. The best you can say about her is that she doesn't hold a grudge against humans for retaliating, though she does seem to think it was kind of a low blow to bait her with poisoned alcohol. No way she could resist drinking it!
* TheRival: To Kintoki while they were alive. According to Kintoki, all their fights, be they serious or not, always ended in a draw, and the only time she "lost" was when she was drugged by Raikou and Kintoki cut her head off from behind.
* SemiDivine: She has a reasonably high Divinity rank despite being an oni because she's the child of a dragon god, Yamata no Orochi.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: And an endless tease at that. With that said, her stance on sex is "sure, but remember I'm an oni so [[FreudianThreat don't complain if I bite it off]]".
-->'''Dr. Roman:''' [[ArousedByTheirVoice "Geh… every breath, gesture, and word that comes out of you is dripping with sex!"]]
* ShapeshifterModeLock: Ibaraki's attempt to use her powers to defeat Kintoki result in the warping of Shuten's Saint Graph, leaving her stuck in a much younger and weaker form when she'd typically be summoned as a voluptuous adult.
* ShesGotLegs: And she gains a pair of oni head-themed knee armor on her second ascension onward to protect them.
* {{Stripperiffic}}: It isn't quite KimonoFanservice if said kimono is hanging wide open and showing off absolutely everything. Thankfully, she's actually wearing underwear.
* SwissArmyWeapon: Her drinking gourd also doubles as a large switchblade-esque sword.
* WillfullyWeak: Despite being stronger than Ibaraki, Shuten let her rule the Oni of Mount Ooe, as ruling required far more effort than she was interested in spending.
* WorthyOpponent: Kintoki. During Rashomon after the protagonist sees Kintoki's memories through a dream he mentions that no matter when or under what circumstances they fought they alway fought each other to a draw, be it fighting at full power or simply sparring with some kind of wager down on it just for fun. He believes they both had it in their heads that they'd both found an opponent they were dead even with and couldn't bear to let it end. Shuten also liked the fact she couldn't just beat Kintoki with sensuality.

->''"Haha. Trying to summon a Goddess to this world, such an interesting and poor soul. You, what is your name?"''

The oldest of the Gorgon Sisters that appears in Greek Mythology. A goddess born as a perfected idol, an ideal woman and embodiment of men's longing. No matter what kind of gentleman they are, he will praise and flatter her. Although endowed with elegance and refinement, if one were to get to the core of her character, it is also possible to say that she is extremely lazy and exceedingly coldhearted towards those she doesn't care about to the point of making the watchdog of the underworld shudder.

Just like her little sister Euryale, she first appeared in Medusa's flashback in ''Fate/hollow ataraxia''. She appears as a NPC in Rome and later as a major character for the "Murder at the Kogetsukan" event as "Juliet".
----
* ActuallyNotAVampire: Despite not being a vampire, her blood-drinking is reflected in one of her Personal Skills, Blood-Sucking/Vampirism.
* TheAgeless: Along with Euryale, this sets them apart from their little sister Medusa, who ages normally.
* AntiMagic: Despite being an Assassin, she still has A-ranked Magic Resistance ''and'' her Goddess' Essence gives her more on top of ''that''. She's actually one of the most debuff-resistant characters in the game.
* BalanceBuff: She has received two as of now, the first one being a Charisma-based skill that doubles in effect on Divine allies (which includes herself), giving her a niche as a support in Divine-based teams, and the second one making her NP remove buffs on the enemy when used, which is quite useful in quests where enemies rely heavily on buffs.
* BalefulPolymorph: In her Bond Level 4 line, she casually mentions that while she would be fine with having the protagonist live on a deserted island with herself and her sisters, the protagonist "would have to become an ant or something first".
* BigSisterBully: She and Euryale both like to bully Medusa. Notably, she forces her to battle against the protagonist in both of Stheno's interludes, and even joins in to help defeat her for the second one. Stheno is shown to genuinely care for her though - one of her death lines has her give a DyingDeclarationOfLove to both Medusa and Euryale, her wish for the Holy Grail would be to just live in peace with her sisters alone on an island, and finally her bond 3 line confirms that she loves Medusa despite bullying her so much, even after Medusa (as Gorgon) snapped and killed her.
-->'''Bond Level 3 Profile Line:''' About my younger sister (Medusa), I do end up bullying her with my other self (Euryale) at every opportunity, but at the end I do love her.
-->...I love her from the bottom of my heart. Even after death.
* CoordinatedClothes: Her outfit is initially more or less identical to that of Euryale's, which emphasizes their nature as identical twins. However, this is subverted from her second Ascension onwards, as the outfit's design steadily gains in distinctiveness to represent her DivergentCharacterEvolution, until it becomes truly unique by her final Ascension.
* CripplingOverspecialization:
** Her skill set is nearly identical to Euryale's, but instead of getting a super effective multiplier on males with her NP it only has a chance to instantly kill or charm them instead. The instant kill chance isn't particularly high, either, being equal to Ryougi Shiki's at [=NP1=] but without the ability to deal damage and lacking a skill to increase the instant kill chance. She can't even generate stars with her low hit count. As a result, the only use she has is in gimmick charm lock teams against very specific enemies, which can ''also'' be risky given that debuff resisting passive effects can completely upset any strategy like this.
** Her first Strengthening Quest helps mitigate this a bit by giving her a skill that considerably buffs the attack of teammates and further increases the attack of divine teammates. Her second one gives her NP a buff removal effect while changing the non-scaling defense debuff into a scaling one with NP level to increase its usage in stall-based strategies.
* DeadlyGaze: Her Noble Phantasm "Smile of the Stheno" acts as this, having a chance to OneHitKill male opponents. However, due to most Servants or bosses being OneHitKill-resistant and/or not male, this tends to be more of a UselessUsefulSpell compared to other Noble Phantasms. Hers does at least come with a chance to Charm male opponents if the OneHitKill fails, and gives a defense debuff to all enemies.
* DivergentCharacterEvolution: While she and Euryale were functionally identical in ''Hollow Ataraxia'', in this game Stheno is distinguished by being a bit more mature than her little sister and instead having quite the sadistic streak to her. Her outfit changes after her third Ascension, getting more ribbons and a new, partially see-through dress, among other things.
* DyingDeclarationOfLove: One of her lines upon being defeated is to say that she loves Medusa and Euryale.
* TheGadfly:
** When the protagonists meet her in Chapter 2, she tells them that they could go take the treasure in her cave only for them to find nothing but monsters. Tamamo Cat was supposed to be waiting in a treasure chest, but she got bored and left before the party gets there, meeting them back at the entrance. She does this again in her interludes.
** She teases the young Lord El-Melloi II in his third interlude, pushing his buttons by remarking on his youth.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Her first interlude has her use her Charm skill on Dr. Roman, the protagonist, and a bunch of undead monsters. However, she can only charm male opponents in-game.
* GlowingEyesOfDoom: The same kind as her sisters, Euryale and Medusa. While she doesn't have the same exact [[DeadlyGaze petrification]] effect that Medusa possesses, hers can still OneHitKill a male opponent with her Noble Phantasm "Smile of the Stheno".
* HighlyVisibleNinja: Despite having a large glowing halo floating behind her in her later ascensions, she still has a stellar Prescence Concealment (a passive skill that increases critical star generation) rating of A+, the highest in the game. Unfortunately, she can't make good use out of the trait due to her very low hitcounts.
* HumansAreBastards: She really doesn't like humans in general. This is from her backstory, where she lived on the Shapeless Isle and had (human) heroes repeatedly try to either kill Medusa or court her and her sisters. While she tolerates the protagonist, this extends to them too on occasion, though it's rare and not really malicious.
* {{Jerkass}}: Unlike her younger sister Euryale, Stheno tends to be a real jerk. She tends to screw with people for the hell of it, encourage difficult misunderstandings and put people into serious danger just for laughs.
* LoveConfession: She gives the protagonist one in her Bond Level 5 line disparaging them for not realizing it sooner. She backtracks and says she's just kidding right after, though it's not clear if she really was joking or not.
* OutOfFocus: Compared to both of her sisters, she received relatively little dialogue and focus within the story, only showing up for a short time in the Septum singularity as an NPC. She does get ADayInTheLimelight with the "Murder at the Kogetsukan" event, though even then that's not technically Stheno but rather "Juliet".
* TheParalyzer: Her Alluring Voice/Siren Song skill and Noble Phantasm can both charm an opponent, though only against male targets. While she's otherwise one of the most useless [=SRs=], this makes her oddly effective at charmlock strategies against the right male opponents.
* PhysicalGod: She's a divine spirit and is considered perfect and unchanging. However, while she didn't age, she was still vulnerable to death by violence, especially since she had no real power. This is shown in Medusa's backstory, where Stheno and Euryale both let themselves be killed and devoured by Gorgon. As a Servant she's actually stronger than she was in life because the Servant container alters her abilities. In-game this takes the form of her Goddess' Essence/Core of the Goddess EX Passive Skill, which increases her attack and debuff resistance.
* ReadingsAreOffTheScale: Both her Mana and Luck stats are ranked EX.
* SituationalSword:
* SpamAttack: She has one of the fastest-charging Noble Phantasms as well as a skill that increases her Noble Phantasm gauge, which means her Noble Phantasm can be spammed quite a lot. Unfortunately, its usefulness is limited due to it being usually just a defense debuff. Her NP's BalanceBuff, which adds a buff removal effect, does make the quick-recharging NP much more useful.
* TheTease: She teases the protagonist in quite a few of her My Room lines.
* TokenMiniMoe: She's one of the [[OlderThanTheyLook younger-looking]] Servants, along with her twin sister Euryale. Notably, they are tied with Jack the Ripper and Medusa (Lancer) for the second-shortest of all characters at 134 cm.
* TheUnexpected: Usually it would be impossible to summon a Divine Spirit like her as a Servant. It's even an in-universe reaction to her being a Servant. Roman's listing reasons why Divine Spirits can't be summoned, only for Stheno to stroll in. Roman then responds with, "Welp, seeing is believing, then!"
* YouFool: She calls herself this when speculating what she would do with the Holy Grail. Her wish would be to just live on an uninhabited island with her sisters and live in peace, but Stheno knows that would be impossible due to the ForegoneConclusion of Medusa turning into Gorgon.
* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: She has naturally purple hair, like her sisters.

->''"It seems that after changing into a swimsuit I became closer to the epoch when I was training. At the Kuruma mount, playing is training, that's what I was taught. Therefore, that's the right path now. My lord, play a lot with Ushiwaka, please!"''

A key component of the training of the person who would become Minamoto-no-Yoshitsune was her training with the tengu of Mount Kurama. This was one of the happier times in the life of the girl who was then Ushiwakamaru - when she could frolic among the gardens of Kurama Temple and challenge the slopes of the mountain. And now, Ushiwakamaru, foregoing her usual attire in favor of garments more fitting for the shore, recalls once again teaching and joys of her youth - and dances on the beach like the wind, for the sake of her Master.

One of the limited Servants introduced in Summer 2018, Ushiwakamaru is a major ally during the [=ServaFes=] event, loyally sticking by your side to the end.
----
* AnimalMotifs: Birds, especially crows, naturally. In her third ascension form, she gains a pair of tiny crow wings on her sandals, and her semi-cloak billows out from her waist in a fashion similar to a pair of wings. She also gains a feathered hair ornament.
* AnimationBump: Ushiwakamaru's regular attack animations in this form are a ''huge'' step up over the generic animations of her Rider version. Her Noble Phantasm, on the other hand, is comparatively lazy-looking (it's meant to take her {{Flash Step}}ping to the next level since she never even changes pose while doing it, but in practice it works to the animation's detriment).
* AntiquatedLinguistics: Especially in this form and during [=ServaFes=], she refers to the Master as ''aruji'', which is a somewhat antiquated way of acknowledging someone's noble superior (and would've been ''de rigueur'' in her time); the rough English equivalent would be "milord".
* ArtEvolution:
** Because, at the time of her release, her Rider version was still using a launch sprite, Tengu Ushi ended up being a showcase for [[https://i.imgur.com/Tzv9Xvn.png just how far the sprites have come]] [[https://i.imgur.com/XANnSz3.png since the launch-era days]].
** Even accounting for this, though, Ushiwaka did get a few design revisions here - her red eyeshadow is a bit more consistently applied, her eyes are also a bit [[TsurimeEyes sharper]], her forehead is a bit less prominent, and her hair has gotten even longer.
* BlowYouAway: She's constantly creating gusts of wind with her fan. Her Buster Attack animation has her generating a mini tornado to attack her opponents, and her Noble Phantasm is basically her using tengu arts to create a massive water tornado.
* CombatHandFan: Wields one as part of her Tengu combat arts.
* TheComicallySerious: Ushi, needless to say, doesn't have a lot of experience with a Comiket-like event and takes a lot of the foibles the team runs into at face value.
* ADayInTheLimelight: Even moreso than Babylonia, Ushi gets a huge narrative spotlight during [=ServaFes=] as one of your primary allies through the entire event. Even moreso than humorous events ([[TheComicallySerious and there's a lot of those too]]), we get to dig a little into what makes Ushi tick and why she's so loyal to the Chaldean Master.
* DishingOutDirt: One of her Quick Card animations has her drop a small barrage of rocks with a wave of her fan.
* EverythingIsBetterWithSpinning: Her first Quick Card animation has her jumping into the air and somersaulting into her opponent with Usumidori held out. Her Extra Attack animation has her coming down on her opponent from above and drilling into them with Usumidori.
* FlashStep: Ushiwakamaru has A++ Rank agility this time around and it shows with her animations, which have her constantly disappearing and reappearing around her opponent in a blur of motion.
* HoverBoard: It's a bit blink-and-you'll-miss-it, but she does ride her fan this way (which seems to grow for the purpose) instead of stepping forward like other Servants do when beginning or ending combat.
* KatanasAreJustBetter: She still has Usumidori with her despite her class change, which she uses in a manner reminiscent of her ancestor's Doujigiri Yasutsuna by carving a pentagram star in the air.
* RapunzelHair: Much more obvious than it was in her Rider form. Even tied up, her ponytail comes down to nearly her ''ankles''. It seems to get a bit shorter in her first ascension, but that's just because she's tied part of it in a loop behind her head.
* ShesGotLegs: The art for this version of Ushi focuses on her legs almost as if to compensate for her relative modesty. About a third of her Final Ascension art are, in fact, just her legs.
* {{Sideboob}}: Her swimsuit is sideless in her third and fourth ascensions.
* {{Stripperific}}: Downplayed. While her outfits in this form obviously still don't cover that much since they're swimsuits, many players were quick to notice that Ushi's swimsuit version is ''more'' modest than her regular, highly revealing armor, to the point that her Third and Final Ascension art is less revealing than her First Ascension art. She even ''comments'' on this somewhat during one of her ascensions and in the [=ServaFes=] event.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Has a very ''antagonistic'' version of this relationship with [[Characters/FateGrandOrderSabers Summer Medb]]; Ushi is appalled at the way Medb uses her sex appeal to drive her legion of cameramen like slaves (in Medb's ''own words'') and how her "doujin" work is not only just a gravure model-photo book but has as many people working on it as a professional work and would like nothing more than to duel some humility into her, while Medb finds Ushi, especially in this form, hopelessly classless and unappealing, comparing her to "a wild village girl" and dismissing Ushi's dislike as little more than jealousy of a better. The two will readily come to blows over this.

Widely known as Consort Yu, she is the concubine of Xiang Yu renowned for her beauty who would follow him into battle. As it turns out, she's actually a True Ancestor that survived her recorded death and continued to live into the modern day... as Hinako Akuta. She suppressed her powers to be able to hid her true nature among humans, but ends up regaining them during the course of SIN, and after her death is recorded as a Servant.
----
* BeethovenWasAnAlienSpy: She's not a human, she's a [[{{VisualNovel/Tsukihime}} True Ancestor]]. Well...almost. She's actually a [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zhenren Zhenren]] which is a kind of elemental spirit. Mechanically there's almost no difference between Zhenren and True Ancestors, with the only known one being that Zhenren do not lust for blood, and Consort Yu herself doesn't know what her origins are because it took a long time to achieve sentience.
* BoobsAndButtPose: Her Final Ascension art has her in this, with a decent amount of UnderBoobs and MaleGaze.
* BornUnlucky: With everything listed under the folder of her current identity and StarCrossedLovers below, it's not much of a shock to find out her Luck parameter is E rank.
* CannibalismSuperpower: Hinako manages to regain her powers as Yu by messily devouring Gao's, her own Servant, energy. Notably, he was actually the one that encouraged her to do so.
* CharacterTitle: She is the "Crimson Beauty" mentioned in the subtitle of SIN.
* DanceBattler: Her attack animations are very fluid and gracefully resemble dancing, as befitting a lady known as The Beauty.
* DoesNotLikeShoes: She doesn't wear any shoes at all with her second and third ascension.
* DoubleUnlock: Summoning her has completing the third Lostbelt as the prerequisite. After all, [[GameplayAndStoryIntegration she only ascends to the Throne of Heroes]] when she finally passes on after beating Mayall.
* FlamingSword: [[DualWielding Two of them, in fact.]]
* GlacierWaif: Despite her slim and short build, she has A+ Ranked Endurance and a useful HealingFactor skill plus high HP, which lets her be surprisingly survivable for an Assassin.
* GoodThingYouCanHeal: Her Noble Phantasm has her charge massive amounts of magical energy into her body as a form of suicide bombing, with her body reforming after the attack.
* HealingFactor: Her second skill gives her HP regen over five turns and buff removal resistance that at max rank refills ''1000'' HP per turn and is ready to go again immediately afterwards.
* HighPressureBlood: Her Noble Phantasm consists of blasting her enemies with ludicrous amounts of blood. Fitting, considering she's a vampire.
* HotConsort: One of the oldest and most famous examples. Xiang Yu clearly was a man of taste.
* HugeGuyTinyGirl: Her lover, Xiang Yu completely dwarfs her. It may be because of his Centaur like appearance, though it's possible that this was the case when he was human as well.
* InterspeciesRomance: She's a vampire who fell in love with a sentient automaton.
* LadyOfWar: As expected of a famous Consort known as [[RedBaron The Beauty]], her attack animations and fighting style are very graceful, resembling an alluring yet deadly dance.
* LateArrivalSpoiler: She is story-locked for a reason. As she only became a Heroic Spirit after her actual death rather than her historical "death", she's pretty much a direct continuation of her life as Hinako, and she will not shy away from talking about the events of the Lostbelts. A newbie who gets her early through rate-ups is probably going to get really confused by some of the things she says.
* OurVampiresAreDifferent: She's a [[{{VisualNovel/Tsukihime}} True Ancestor]] subtype, though the distinction between her and the main species is not entirely clear. When history said she died she actually faked her death, and would then go on to live thousands of more years and become Hinako. In the 2019 Valentine's Day event, she explains that she doesn't need blood because she passively absorbs a little bit of Mana from the living things around her, so unless she were stranded in a desert, she'll be fine. In an emergency, she can replenish her energy by drinking blood.
* RedBaron: Like Edmond Dantes and Gao Changgong, she goes with her epithet Yu Meiren (Yu the Beauty) as her in-game name.
* SenpaiKohai: While she begrudgingly accepts her new status as a Servant, she also won't let you forget that she is still your senpai as a member of Chaldea.
* SheCleansUpNicely: While she was already pretty beautiful as Hinako, it was more in a nerdy bookworm way. As Consort Yu, she [[LettingHerHairDown removes her twintails]], [[TheGlassesComeOff takes off the glasses]], ditches the Chaldean uniform for a form-fitting black dress with a fur collar, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and carries around two flaming swords]]. Goes a long way to show why they call her "The Beauty." Heck, even her default Servant appearance is considered by the community to be one of the best looking starting pieces of artwork in the game, in large part because she looks both cute and beautiful without relying on fanservice.
* SpamAttack:
* StarCrossedLovers: Averted in their initial relationship, but after Xiang died? ''Oh boy.'' Yu wandered the earth for thousands of years bitter and lonely until she finally ended up at Chaldea. She attempted to summon her love, only for Gao to hijack the summoning. When she later arrives at SIN, Qin offers her the chance to be with that world's version of Xiang Yu in exchange for letting him study her, which she quickly agrees to. While he's very obviously not the same man she knew, after hearing her story he immediately accepts her as his concubine as his pan-human self did. [[HopeSpot It looks like they might actually be able to live together again...]]Only for Chaldea to then kick in the door, which forces them to fight as otherwise Xiang will be destroyed along with the Lostbelt. They lose repeatedly, and just when it looks like Qin is going to give up the fight altogether Xiang manages to summon the energy for one last stand...Only to promptly lose again and be killed, his last words lamenting that he was unable to secure a world where his wife could finally be happy. Yu snaps and merges with the Phantasy Tree in an attempt at revenge, only to lose ''again'' and finally be killed herself. However, she wills herself to become a Servant after her death, so there's a chance a miracle could occur and they can be summoned together and '''finally''' find happiness...Well, [[GuiltBasedGaming a miracle or the player shelling out enough money to do it in Chaldea anyways.]]
* SuicideAttack: Her Noble Phantasm is technically this, and is described as such. However, the Noble Phantasm then reconstructs her physical body afterwards, meaning she can use over and over again.
* TechnicolorEyes: Her eyes change to crimson in her third ascension; as she's no longer hiding her species.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: When summoned by the player, she makes it clear that she still holds a grudge towards the Chaldean Master, yet she will still carry out orders regardless.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: One of her attack animations.
* VaporWear: Her second and third outfits do not leave much to the imagination. Her Final Ascension in particular makes it clear she's not wearing ''any'' undergarments whatsoever under that dress.
