* CharacterShilling: Downplayed. The narration, story summary, and characters (such as Todoroki, Uraraka, and Iida) go on and on about how all-loving, forgiving, and pure Izuku is, but Izuku's own internal narration and the story itself contradict this by showing he is stubborn, judgmental, prone to seeing the worst in Toushiro rather than give him the benefit of the doubt, and slow to look past his misconceptions in order to see other's point of view. In his mind, if you are a hero, you are good, but if you kill, you are immediately a villain. This is made worse by his belief that ''vigilantes'' are almost as bad as villains. This makes his apparently intended [[IncorruptiblePurePureness "pure cinnamon roll"]] personality an InformedAttribute until he lets go of his biases and supports Toushiro [[spoiler:after his secrets are revealed]].

The story's protagonist and primary POV character. Toushiro is the Shinigami Captain of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13, who was transported to another world twenty years after the end of the Thousand Year Blood War. He has little interest in the conflict between heroes and villains, and only wants to find a way home until a sinister party starts experimenting on human souls. Now he sets out to find the culprit and bring them to justice. Easier said than done with law enforcement, [[HeroWithBadPublicity society]], PTSD, and an awakening Quirk getting in the way.

Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalJerkass: This Endeavor is even worse than canon's pre-CharacterDevelopment Endeavor. The fic's version of Endeavor lacks ''any'' good qualities and is a [[HateSink completely antagonistic and loathsome character]]. He is petty, antagonistic towards Toushiro for little to no reason, and not above [[spoiler:trying to get a teenager committed to a mental institution]] because [[SoreLoser he lost to him]]. He's willing to stoop that low simply because his pride was hurt. Even his desire to surpass All Might comes purely out of envy rather than a desire to better himself as is the case in the manga.
* TheComplainerIsAlwaysWrong: Since the other pro-hero characters are sympathetic, Endeavor's purpose is to be the dissenter in the group that is unreasonably suspicious of Toushiro. He thinks Toushiro is dangerous, so the fic goes out of its way to humiliate him by having Toushiro treat him with dismissive scorn while Midoriya and Todoroki rip apart his arguments in front of a crowd of people.
* FlatCharacter: Endeavor lacks all of the [[HiddenDepths nuance]] and [[JerkassRealization development]] of his canon self and is painted as nothing more than an abusive, petty, prideful, and antagonistic {{Jerkass}}. Every time he appears he is a spiteful jerk who mistrusts Toushiro and is responded to with scorn.

* DontYouDarePityMe: He is very defensive[[note]] more than usual [[/note]] when he thinks Aizawa is pitying him after he breaks down crying. He's relieved once he is reassured that is not the case and becomes encouraged to open up to Aizawa ''because'' he won't pity him.
* AFriendInNeed: He is the only one of the students who immediately says they need to [[spoiler:rescue Bakugou]]. The others hesitate because they fear the consequences of helping their friend.

Added DiffLines:

* CrushBlush: Midoriya blushes when thinking about Ururaka's freckles. He blushes more when she appears.

Added DiffLines:

* ThouShaltNotKill: He has a ''huge'' problem with Toushiro killing. This even extends to [[SoulEater Hollows]], creatures that [[IRejectYourReality Midoriya steadfast refuses to believe are not human]] and which he thinks Toushiro has been tricked into believing are not human. He's coming around but it's a slow process.

Added DiffLines:

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: His blunt, cynical, pragmatic, and standoffish attitude can make him come off as an uncaring jerk, though he is nowhere near as much of a jerk as Bakugou is. Under his cold exterior, Toushiro cares deeply about other people, something which Midoriya comes to realize as he gets to know him. Midoriya also figures out Toushiro acts cold because he expects people to reject him so he preemptively tries to keep them at arms length.

Added DiffLines:

* NeverBeHurtAgain: This is part of his motivation for acting cold. He has been rejected by nearly everyone from civilians to his fellow Shinigami because of his looks and power. People judge, fear, or want to use Toushiro to some degree so he created an icy and vicious mask to try to protect himself from being hurt by others again.

Added DiffLines:

* SlasherSmile: He sports a sadistic grin when he [[spoiler:fights Luppi]] and tells him how much more powerful he has gotten since they last met.

Added DiffLines:

* WhenHeSmiles: Toushiro rarely smiles. He only smirks. When he does smile after [[spoiler:Midoriya, Todoroki, and the others defend him from Endeavor]], Midoriya is stunned by how sweet his smile is and thinks it makes him look even more striking.

Added DiffLines:

* AmbiguouslyBi: He has a crush on Ururaka, [[CantSpitItOut not that he can gather the courage to tell her]], but is also struck speechless when Toushiro [[WhenHeSmiles smiles]]. Midoriya is blown away by how attractive he looks and thinks Toushiro could snag any girl or guy in that school with that grin.

* ChildSoldier: He is mentally fifteen years old years after the Winter and Thousand Year Blood Wars. When he fought during those wars he was even younger.
* CombatPragmatist: He does not play around when facing even low-level opponents and has no qualms about utterly obliterating them. When facing [[spoiler:All For One]], he forsakes giving him a fighting chance and instead simply cuts his head off.
* CuteLittleFangs: He gains them while [[spoiler:using his dragon-shapeshifting Quirk]].
* DeadpanSnarker: When confronted with stupidity, obliviousness, or naivety, Toushiro will dryly point out the obvious with bland sarcasm.
* {{Determinator}}: Even with PTSD, [[CultureClash society looking down on him]], and well-meaning but ignorant teachers getting in his way, nothing will stop Toushiro from saving humanity.
* GeniusBruiser: ChildProdigy he is, Toushiro has no trouble understanding and calculating the physics of his powers and Quirk.
* GoodIsNotSoft: He is one of the few characters who will kill. Work with the Arrancar to try to kill humanity and he will kick your ass or kill you, like how he kills [[spoiler:All For One.]]
* GreyAndGrayMorality: In contrast to the other UA students, Toushiro knows that labels such as "hero", "vigilante", and "villain" are societal constructs that do not take into account the actions or motivations of individual people. A hero, such as [[AbusiveParents Endeavor]], can be a bad person. Laws meant to protect people might only get them killed instead, so those laws can and should be broken to save lives.

* ManipulativeBastard: Downplayed in that he does this for the benefit of others. Toushiro has the habit of pressing people's buttons in an attempt to make them better themselves or think critically, as shown with his first meeting with Class 1-B.

* ShellShockedVeteran: Toushiro has PTSD from the wars he fought in and other [[PlayingWithSyringes horrible]] experiences he's endured at the hands of enemies such as Giselle and allies such as Mayuri. When he first awakens in the Academia world and a hero tries to grab him, his first panicked instinct is to pulse his reiatsu and run.

* UnderestimatingBadassery: The pro-heroes and villains look at him and see a fifteen year-old. Unaware of his real age, many are blindsided by the power and prowess with which he fights. When Hollows attack UA, All-Might tries to protect Toushiro but instead Toushiro protects him and defeats their enemies singlehandedly.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: He can turn his skin into dragon scales and [[spoiler:transform into an ice dragon.]]
