The story's protagonist and primary POV character. Toushiro is the Shinigami Captain of the 10th Division of the Gotei 13, who was transported to another world twenty years after the end of the Thousand Year Blood War. He has little interest in the conflict between heroes and villains, and only wants to find a way home until a sinister party starts experimenting on human souls. Now he sets out to find the culprit and bring them to justice. Easier said than done with law enforcement, [[HeroWithBadPublicity society]], PTSD, and an awakening Quirk getting in the way.

* GoodIsNotSoft: He is one of the few characters who will kill. Work with the Arrancar to try to kill humanity and he will kick your ass or kill you, like how he kills [[spoiler:All For One.]]

* HeroWithBadPublicity: Toushiro would not call himself a hero, but he works for the good of humanity by protecting them from Hollows and other similar threats. The Pro Heroes, police, and the public fail to realize that and he is labeled a villain by many.

* PoorCommunicationKills: Since it is against Soul Society law to [[ClassifiedInformation talk about the supernatural with humans]], Toushiro is very close-lipped about Hollows and Shinigami. [[spoiler:The pro heroes and police eventually force him to reveal said information by bringing in a LivingLieDetector.
