* ParasitesAreEvil: A parasitic lifeform that invades the bodies of his targets via scratches, completely taking over their mind and altering their appearance as well as being able to use his host's abilities as his own. A Psychopathic Manchild by nature, he takes over Vegeta's body upon arriving on Earth and uses his powers to enslave and brainwash nearly everyone on the planet.

* SoftSpokenSadist: Yusuke Numata gave Baby a very soft voice maed him sound young and creepy. His voice changed to an EvilSoundsRaspy once he became Super Baby 1 and beyond.

* TooPowerfulToLive: Presumably the reason he doesn't return in the very next arc when the villains of Hell are freed. With his StoryBreakerPower and general level of strength, it's doubtful the heroes would have been able to beat him without Goku there.

* VoodooShark: With the reveal that Baby is Myuu's creator and not the other way around as it was presented, it brings up questions as to ''how'' this is possible, as it's shown Baby was not quite active when he was first discovered. And it's never further expanded upon when was Myuu created or why Baby wasn't in shape beforehand.

* AchillesHeel: While becoming the [[OneWingedAngel Golden Great Ape]] allows Baby to close the power gap between himself and Super Saiyan 4 Goku, he still has the exact same weakness as a regular Great Ape, that being slicing off his now-giant tail ''will'' end the transformation. Granted, it takes some internal sabotage from Majuub to open up Baby long enough to pull it off, but once it happens any chance Baby had of victory is lost.

* BecameTheirOwnAntithesis: As a Tuffle-based artificial life form, Baby sees himself as superior to the Saiyan race, who at the time of their great war was little more than a tribe of cave-dwelling savages. Once Baby possesses the Earthlings and acquires the powers of the few remaining Saiyans, he proves to be just as bloodthirsty as the Saiyans that wiped out the Tuffles.

* TheWorfEffect: Baby Vegeta easily overpowers Super Saiyan 3 Goku, who was unable to even faze him. Once Goku becomes a Super Saiyan 4, their positions are reversed and Baby is completely outmatched, forcing him to become a Golden Great Ape to regain the advantage.

* BadBoss: He attacks and nearly kills the possessed Trunks, Gohan, and Goten when he decides [[YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness he doesn't need them anymore]], and when he becomes [[spoiler:a Great Ape]], he fakes going on a rampage and kills several of his followers simply to test out his new power.

* CombinedEnergyAttack: His Revenge Death Ball, like an evil version of the Spirit Bomb. It's powered by all of the hatred of his followers, and he even takes a stance similar to the former TropeNamer when charging it in the anime and ''Infinite World''.

* GigglingVillain: He laughs quite a bit at first; however, he almost drops it completely after he [[spoiler:takes over Vegeta]].

* OneWingedAngel: Transforming into a Golden Great Ape when faced with Super Saiyan 4 Goku.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: He kills off both Dr. Gero and Dr. Myuu, both of whom more than had it coming.

* NoNonsenseNemesis: Syn/Omega does ''not'' fuck around. He attacks Goku and tries to kill him when he's blinded and exhausted after fighting Nuova and Eis, and once Gogeta's fusion time expires, he does everything possible to prevent Goku and Vegeta from fusing again.

* BigBad: Of the "Black Star Dragon Ball" Saga and the early portion of the Baby Saga. He's responsible for a lot of the events that happen in the series as he created most of the Machine Mutants, [[spoiler:was the one behind the Luud Cult]], and, alongside Dr. Gero, created Hell Fighter 17 and caused a rift between Earth and Hell, releasing all of Hell's inhabitants.

* {{Irony}}: Twice over.

* MeaningfulName: Syn sounds very similar to "sin." As he is the ultimate Shadow Dragon and the evilest of them, this similarity actually makes some sense.
** Notice how there are [[SevenDeadlySins seven]] Dragon Balls?
** His name is Syn and he's the One-Star Dragon. Original Sin, anyone?
** Made even more significant by FunWithAcronyms above.
** Also makes a fitting pun, in that "Syn" can also be short for the word "synthesis" (something that is a combination or composition of other things), of which he combines, or ''synthesizes'', the other Dragon Balls into himself in order to transform himself into Omega Shenron.
* NoNonsenseNemesis: Syn/Omega does ''not'' play around. He attacks Goku and tries to kill him when he's blinded and exhausted after fighting Nuova and Eis, and once Gogeta's fusion time expires, he does everything possible to prevent Goku and Vegeta from fusing again.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In a sense, he's a combination of a subservient Hell Fighter 17 and a brainwashed Android 17 and meant to be loyal to his creators and follow their commands word for word. While he eventually fights off the brainwashed part, he still remains crazy, but more along the lines of DrunkWithPower manner rather than the intended OmnicidalManiac. (One side quest from ''Xenoverse'' where you have to help him defeat the Monster Island Ranger incarnation of Android 17 from ''DB Super'' ends with him deciding to leave Earth intact [[NoChallengeEqualsNoSatisfaction once he has no more challengers]] and go find strong fighters elsewhere in the cosmos to beat up.)

* CavalierCompetitor: A trait of early Android 17 that he keeps to a degree. More so apparent in the newer video games, where his entire motivation seems to be proving he's the strongest.
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: Super 17 was largely subservient and quiet when shown with Myuu and Gero, his constant smirk, evil laughter, and smugness about his power were largely his only defining traits. Later installments go to show his rebellious attitude, narcissism, desire to grow stronger, a bit of a temper, and prove himself the strongest Android.

* OmnicidalManiac: If let loose, [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt his mere evil power will destroy everything]]. This is also his primary motivation, mostly because he's made of evil energy. This is highlighted when he, Baby and Super 17 team up in ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse'', as the three have distinct goals and motivations. Omega Shenron's goal to destroy the universe conflicts with Baby's motivation to rule over the universe.

* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In a sense, he's a combination of a subservient Hell Fighter 17 and a brainwashed Android 17 and meant to be loyal to his creators and follow their commands word for word. While he eventually fights off the brainwashed part, he still remains crazy.

* InexplicablyAwesome: He's just a fusion of 17 and his exact copy, both of whom are much weaker than Imperfect Cell. There's no reason given why a fusion of the two would be stronger than Majin Buu by orders of magnitude. It is implied by Dr. Gero that the original Android 17 was something of a failed SuperPrototype, though, being originally intended to have been stronger than even Cell, and that Super 17 wasn't so much an upgrade of 17 as it was 17 in his true, complete state. Accounting for ''Dragon Ball Super''[='=]s reveal that 17 has always been capable of maximizing his android abilities up to god-tier power levels, it's possible to call Super 17 more or less a shortcut to unlock his true power.

* LetsFightLikeGentlemen: Nuova is an honorable villain, refusing unfair advantages and stooping to desperate tactics no matter the situation.

* ItCanThink: When Super Baby 2 turns into the Golden Oozaru, he appears to go berserk just like Goku earlier. It turns out he is just playing around and he's actually in perfect control, since Baby is a parasitic lifeform and therefore unaffected of the Saiyan's transformation.

* {{Kaiju}}: Whenever he absorbs something, he grows giant.

* MagikarpPower: In his unpowered state he's the most pathetic and weakest of the Dragons, but simply absorbing a mole puts him above half of them; when he absorbs Pan he becomes even stronger and would've gained even more power by absorbing Goku if his plans had succeeded.

* ObfuscatingStupidity: He's actually smarter than he looks, feigning defeat to have a shot at absorbing Pan.

* StoryBreakerPower: His absorption/copying ability is superior to that of even Majin Buu and Baby; absorbing a mere Earth mole let him fight on par with Goku and Pan, only being "defeated" because [[ObfuscatingStupidity he let them]], when he absorbs Pan he gives a decent challenge to SSJ4 Goku; had he absorbed Goku successfully no one would've been able to stop him.

* QuirkyMiniBossSquad: Other than their CoolButImpractical technique (and "cool" is reaching too hard), they are just three silly siblings similar to the Pilaf Gang.

* AwesomeButImpractical: In true parasite fashion, Baby leeches off those he infects, gradually getting stronger as he does so, but as it's revealed when he's forcefully ejected from Vegeta, Baby's form is probably stronger than a Super Saiyan 3 due to the power he absorbed, but at the same time is now so much bigger than before that he literally ''can't'' fit in Vegeta's body any more unless he's a Great Ape.

* BashBrothers: Baby Gohan and Baby Goten, when they team up on Vegeta, and later on Goku.

* BerserkButton: Saiyans. When he was still in embryo form and Trunks sabotaged his incubation tank, Dr. Myuu uttering the word "Saiyan" immediately woke Baby up.

* CoolChair: At one point Baby creates an improvised "throne room" atop a series of floating rock pillars over the spot where he believes he has defeated Goku. It is here that the possessed Dende presents Baby with the Black Star Dragon Balls in an ornate goblet. He also somehow constructed an actual throne and coat of arms as well. This throne is never seen or mentioned again after this scene.
* CombinedEnergyAttack: His Revenge Death Ball, like an evil version of the Spirit Bomb. It's powered by all of the hatred of his followers, and he even takes a stance similar to the former TropeNamer when charging it in the anime and ''Infinite World''.

* ContrastingSequelAntagonist: Majin Buu was a being of magical origin who caused senseless destruction and tried to assimilate other beings into himself. Baby was produced by science, he operates out of vengeance and pride and he possesses other beings.

* EmbarrassingNickname: Japanese only, but apparently "Baby" is not his real name and it is not even clear that he ''has'' a real name; it is just what Dr. Myuu called him [[spoiler:after Myuu forgot that Baby created ''him'' and not the other way around]]. In the Japanese original, Baby actually tells Myuu (after killing him) that he ''hates'' Myuu calling him that.

* HijackingCthulhu: In the arcade game ''Dragon Ball Heroes'', Baby becomes Baby Janemba after infecting [[MadeOfEvil Super Janemba]].

* WhiteHairBlackHeart: When Baby took control of Vegeta's body, his hair became white.

* EvilerThanThou: Pulls one on Dr. Gero, where he betrays Gero for being too limited in ambition, with Gero’s desire for conquest of the Earth. Myuu had the much more large scale plan for subjugating the entire galaxy.

* ActuallyADoombot: [[spoiler:When his "body" is destroyed, his ''whip'' is revealed to be the actual Mutchy, and transforms into his true form]].

* SinisterMinister: The leader of the Luud Cult

* HateSink: After he drops the moron act Naturon proves to be one of the most despicable of the Shadow Dragons, using an innocent helpless mole as a MeatShield diversion from Goku's attack, absorbing Pan when she is caught off guard and using her as a bargaining chip to try and shield himself from Goku's attacks, panics when Goku appears to gain the resolve to MercyKill Pan and defeat Naturon, then mocks him when Goku is unable to truly go with it. Even after Goku saves Pan from him, he attempts to make a cowardly getaway by absorbing a bird before Goku stops him. It all serves to make his final defeat by getting pummeled and humiliated then vaporized by Goku all the sweeter.

* ISurrenderSuckers: How he absorbs Pan. He has less luck with Goku.

* VillainBall: He falls for Goku's WoundedGazelleGambit near the end of their fight and shows him Pan mockingly... giving Goku the perfect chance to save Pan and take him out.

* {{Expy}}: Of Dr. Gero, with some elements of Dr. Raichi. His first Latin American voice actor also dubbed Dr. Gero, until the Super 17 saga, where Dr. Myuu and Dr. Gero meet, where it was changed to avoid confusion.

* SympathyForTheDevil: Initially Pan seeing him breakdown into tears over Baby being destroyed, almost feels bad for him.

* TakeOverTheWorld: He wishes to rule the galaxy with an iron fist and rebuild a tuffle empire, but targets Earth first since that's where both the Saiyans and Dragon Balls are going to be. Notably, he ''does'' succeed in this goal for an ambiguous amount of time.

* OmnicidalManiac: If let loose, [[TheEndOfTheWorldAsWeKnowIt his mere evil power will destroy everything]].

* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler:It is revealed that he was actually another Machine Mutant created by Baby at some point to continue his development, rather than Baby being a creation of his.]]

* BashBrothers: Baby Gohan and Baby Goten.

* VoicesAreMental: Zigzagged. When possessing Gohan and Goten, he sounds exactly like them. However, when he takes on Vegeta as his host, Vegeta's voice becomes his own. Possibly justified, as Baby ends up warping Vegeta's body so much that it barely resembles what it used to be, meaning his vocal cords probably got shifted around as well.

* DoesNotLikeShoes: Constantly barefoot.
