!!Telnan AKA Zugaron
A ditzy and friendly young Dzur who Vlad meets in the novel Dzur, and is an apprentice to Sethra Lavode. He wields a Great Weapon which it's implied that he was destined to hold. He also appears as narrator in the short story "The Desecrator", which explains how he got the sword.
* AxCrazy: His BloodKnight tendencies reach this level at some points in "The Desecrator".
* BFS: His Great Weapon is massive even by Dragaeran standards which Vlad finds typical of a Dzur.
* BloodKnight
* DarkIsNotEvil / BadPowersGoodPeople: Sort of. Telnan thinks of himself as evil and takes pride in it, but he's basically a friendly and decent guy who wears all black and carries a massive EvilWeapon that wants to kill everyone.
* EqualOpportunityEvil: Good and evil are rather ambiguous in the series, but Telnan sort of fits since his positive quality of having no species prejudice is sort of balanced by a negative one of being rather inclined to slaughter anyone who gets in his way.
* Expy: He isn't one, but "The Desecrator" shows his sword to be one of Stormbringer in the TheElricSaga.
* MultipleChoicePast: In Dzur, he tells Vlad that he named his sword Nightslayer because it sounds evil and cool. However, in the chronologically earlier "The Desecrator", the sword itself tells him to call it that.

* JerkAss: They are often rather unpleasant both personally and in terms of activities. There's even a scene in Iorich where Vlad bonds with Dragearans of diverse classes and Houses over a shared hatred of the Orca. Not to mention that while Vlad usually learns a lesson about the complexity of a House's traits, the lesson he learns in Orca is that he hates Orca even more than he did previously.

* EvilSorcerer: Well, Vlad notes that Athyra spend so much time in solitary study and contemplation that they become completely divorced from morality and empathy. As a result, some of the CourtMage nastiest pieces of work in the prequels was described as having a SlasherSmile, Loraan, a villain in the Vlad series (and who appears in the prequels) became one of these, and Empire are Athyra. The Right Hand of the Jhereg started from was founded by some particularly corrupt Athyra who were booted out of the House.

* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: The Mario of the Paarfli romances is pretty much a typical swashbuckler hero who happens to kill people for a living and has a similarly idealized romance with Aliera. However, a more sinister characterization is suggested in one of Paarfli's introductions that he was basically Adron's go-to-guy for killing political rivals and was involved in causing the Jhereg-Dragon War. When Mario turns up in the Vlad series, he's pleasant enough, but hardly a dashing hero type.

Seems to include a lot of craftsmen- weavers, carpenters, and cobblers have been mentioned. Both associations fit the House animal, which weaves enormous webs.

The peasants. The vast majority of Dragaerans are in House Teckla, but they don't get much of a voice and are usually treated with disdain by the other Houses. Though Paarfi does mention Teckla Republics in previous Cycles, is it any wonder some of them started their own Bolshevik Revolution?

The warrior House. These guys are soldiers, and during the time of most of the books, the second most powerful House. There's several major characters in this House, and most of them tend towards a ProudWarriorRaceGuy attitude.

Record-keepers, mostly associated with tradition and honor. They're usually automatically treated warmly because of this.

to:

One of several Houses with a less-defined role, but associated with creativity and inspiration. The usual assumption is that the Tiassa is the "idea guy."

One of the upper-middle-class Houses, Hawklords seem to be mostly researchers or scholars.

* Jerkass: If Vlad is to be believed, most Hawklords tend toward "obnoxiously snobby."

* Blood Knights: they like fights where the odds are against them, and absolutely love fighting against impossible odds.

Where House Dragon are soldiers, Dzur are adventurers. They love nothing more than a fight where the odds are against them, and the worse they're outmatched, the better.

The courtier House. Issola tend to be polite, charming, and diplomatic. But don't get too comfortable- the other thing they're associated with is surprise.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: An issola is a beautiful white heron-like bird. But, as Vlad points out, it's also a predator, and when it hunts it'll strike so fast you'll never even see it move. And then it'll go right back to standing there, looking lovely and graceful.
* CunningLinguist
* TheMessiah: Issola get along with everyone.

A middle-class House, associated with unpredictability and tenacity. And... that's about all we know.

Builders and architects. However, they're also associated with destruction- there's mention of book-burnings during previous Vallista reigns.

Organized crime. It also happens to be the only House that accepts half-breeds of other Houses. While not all members of the House are part of the criminal organization, many are.

* TheSyndicate

The House that runs the criminal justice system. Judges, lawyers, jailers- all Iorich.

Need a ludicrously convoluted scheme? These are the guys. Well summed up by Vlad's LightbulbJoke:

* HitmanWithAHeart: Maybe.
* LukeNounverber: Although Greymist is a title, not a surname.
* MasterOfDisguise: In Five Hundred Years After, Mario disguises himself as a Teckla peasant as well as a guardsman of some aristocratic background. It helps that Jhereg are generally a mixture of various Houses.
* TheNondescript: As described by Vlad in Dzur, Mario is a plain, kind of paunchy middle aged guy who looks completely harmless (which is why Vlad suspects correctly he's a dangerous assassin)
* OneMarioLimit: Uh, averted?
* RedBaron: The "Greymist" title, which is given different explanations by Vlad and Paarfli and counts as EarnYourTitle for both/either.
* ShroudedInMyth: He's known as the greatest assassin ever and is a legend among Jhereg, with few knowing which stories about him are true.
* UglyGuyHotWife: As noted above, Mario isn't that good looking, while his girlfriend Aliera is noted for her beauty. On the other hand, Mario is a MasterOfDisguise, so the plain guy Vlad meets might not actually be his true appearance.
