* ADayInTheLimelight: Episode 6 has Kazuhito spend a lot of time with Yayoi, who's worried her family's bookstore may be going under and tries to save it.

* WhatYouAreInTheDark:

* ACupAngst: The main reason why Kazuhito is tortured because he [[OpenMouthInsertFoot keeps snarking]] at Kirihime's chest. Though seeing younger girls with larger breasts also makes her very uncomfortable, such as Hami in the hot springs during episode 8.

* BattleAura: Kirihime gives off a red aur when she's feeling bloodthirsty or jealous over Kazuhito being near another woman.
* BerserkButton: Kirihime is usually vicious but only two things will bring on the full force of her wrath: talking about how flat-chested she is and putting Kazuhito in danger.
* CharlesAtlasSuperpower: Kirihime has ImplausibleFencingPowers that allows her to cut through steel. She does so using the dull sides of a pair of scissors.

* HypocriticalHeartwarming: Kirihime is protective over Kazuhito and saves him from people trying to hurt him, but she abuses him on a regular basis. When Sachi tries to kill him, she says "how dare you attack my dog".
* InsultOfEndearment: She only calls Kazuhito "Mongrel," but it's used as sort of a normal nixckname as they start to get along more.

* LovingBully: She especially enjoys intiminating Kazuhito with her scissors because she has a crush on him.

* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: {{Downplayed|Trope}}. She's a black-haired, red-eyed woman who wears black clothes and a coat with red accessories. She's definitely domineering and aggressive with sadistic tendencies, but far from evil and villainous.

* TheyCallMeMisterTibbs: Kirihime tries to get Madoka to start calling her one-san.

* {{Tsundere}}: Harsh type. Kirihime switches between giving Kazuhito the cold shoulder and threatening to physically abuse him (and sometimes succeeding). Nevertheless, despite him being a dog, she really does seem to love him, and it's mostly seen in how flustered she gets when her feelings for him are brought up.

* {{Yandere}}: PlayedForLaughs. She goes back and forth between being lovestruck with Kazuhito and using her scissors to terrify him.

* BigBrotherAttraction: She has a crush on her big brother Kazuhito. Even before his reincarnation as a dog, Kazuhito didn't return nor seemed aware of her feelings because he doesn't feel attracted to real women, much less his own sister.

* BrokenAce: Kazuhito says that other than [[LethalChef her cooking]], Madoka is a very talented girl with a lot of friends, good at academics and sports, and popular at school. Unfortunately, Kazuhito's death leaves her very unstable until her fight with Kirihime helps her process her grief.
* ChainsawGood: Tuna Eater: Genocide Mode turns her weapon into a chainsaw.

* SiblingYinYang: With Kazuhito. Her {{bookworm}} and antisocial brother describes Madoka as his polar opposite; cheerful, talented and sociable.

A daughter of a famous author and an extremely apologetic and shy girl, who tends to be very insecure about herself and that she may bother others, to the point she will apologize numerous times and claiming she's better dead. She was a schoolmate of Kazuhito and the two met when he read an unfinished script of a novel she was writing, instead of ditching it as she expected, Kazuhito encouraged her to write more and that he would be the first reader of her novel and the two became close friends. After Kazuhito's death she accurately distinguishes him on his dog form due to his mannerisms and knowing where the script was hidden, although she can't listen to his thoughts she can more or less understand what he tries to say. In order to boost her confidence due to believing herself to have won awards due to his father's intervention, she challenged Natsuno to a writing contest and used several techniques, such as hypnosis and suggestion to hinder her, but was still defeated and told by Natsuno that her father made no intervention and her awards were in fact, earned by her own hard work. Following this she befriended Natsuno, calling her senpai."

* ApologizesALot: Hami is a textbook example of this. She even goes so far as to apologize for existing.

* ShrinkingViolet: Hami tends to stay in the background as much as possible.

* LargeHam: She frequently appears on the story along her servants, trying to take the spotlight, but is comically taken away by her men due to busy schedule.

One of three young best selling authors, whose literary works are recognize internationally. She moves around in a wheelchair.

A strange red-haired maid dressed in red who serves Himehagi Momiji with great devotion. She has a habit of dancing and singing alone on a park chants for her mistress and becomes incredibly embarrassed towards any witness, to the point she will attack the victim viciously (usually Kazuhito).

* {{Meido}}: She's a maid who works for Himehagi.
* NinjaMaid: Sachi is Himehagi's maid and knows how to fight with a spear.
