* BadassFamily: She's part of the Skullcleaver family, who have a storied history of adventuring. One of her relatives, Katya Skullcleaver, is a player character in "The Seven", and Katya's father Karl Skullcleaver is a 20th level fighter. Downplayed, since we never see them on screen in "Junior Year".

* UnskilledButStrong: Compared to the Bad Kids, the Rat Grinders have high raw stats because of their LevelGrinding and access to countless magic items [[spoiler:thanks to Porter's patronage]], but they don't seem to know how to work well together as a team or function in a "real" adventure. They needed to be escorted by a faculty member when they tried to go on a relatively low-powered quest in their sophomore year since it would've been too much for them. They spend most of the season dodging fights with the Bad Kids, sabotaging their encounters, and letting other things do the work for them, likely because their patrons realized how bad of an idea it'd be for them to try fighting the Bad Kids openly. [[spoiler:When the Bad Kids finally meet them in open combat, their raw power can't carry them through the fight and three of them are downed before the third round of combat starts. They don't know to stay separated from each other so area-of-effect spells from Riz and Adaine devastate them, and they don't try to protect [[GlassCannon Oisin]] from being focused down so Gorgug eliminates him from combat before he can cast a single spell that might've helped level the playing field.]]

* TokenGoodTeammate: He's the only Ratgrinder to not have had an antagonistic first meeting with his Bad Kids counterpart, having a pleasant conversation with Adaine and suggesting they study together sometime. Later he tries to calm his party down from arguing with the Bad Kids and apologizes to Adaine for his party's actions. There are some hints he may be crushing on her, such as him offering her the diamonds she needs for her classes and remembering the exact class they shared in their freshman year.[[note]]It doesn't seem to be entirely one-sided, since Adaine didn't refute Fabian calling both him and Ivy hot. She also defends him when discussing the Ratgrinders with the others, saying that he "seems pretty cool".[[/note]] [[spoiler: However it's eventually revealed he used mephits to steal Fabian's Cloud Rider engine, helped Kipperlilly sabotage The Last Stand, and [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking was faking his attraction to Adaine]], making it clear he's not the good teammate, he's just the only one capable of properly putting on an affable facade.]]
