* CharacterExaggeration: In the dub, easily making her the least popular character.

Yamato's parents divorced sometime after the Greymon/Parrotmon fight in Hikarigaoka, but before the first episode. According to the RadioDrama ''Two-and-a-half Year Break'', Yamato was the one who decided that Takeru would go with their mother and he would live with their father. He doesn't have a great relationship with his parents, as he seems to feel abandoned by them. He has very low self-esteem, and seems to feel his only purpose in life is to watch out for Takeru--when Takeru starts feeling smothered by him, he's noticeably dismayed.

She's [[TheChick the girl]], basically. Somewhat prissy and spoiled, she doesn't always seem to ''get'' the situation, and is sometimes rather selfish without really realizing it. She matures into a kind, sweet, pacifistic Messiah figure; once she realizes how high the stakes are, she breaks down and refuses to continue, but comes to realize that some fights simply must be fought.

* NiceHat: A huge pink cowboy hat.

* TenMinuteRetirement: After seeing several Digimon die for them, she's so distraught that she decides to temporarily stay put to not be a burden to the others. She gets better with time and rejoins the group.

Because he's the oldest, Jou thinks he should be the responsible one and take care of the other kids -- too bad he's a total pushover with no self-esteem. He's cut deeply whenever he realizes that people think of him this way, and tries to make up for it with acts of reckless selflessness that make Taichi look positively cowardly.

Taichi's little sister, and the Eighth Child, not that anyone knows it at first. Very [[ChildrenAreInnocent sweet, kind and innocent]], but also often wise beyond her years.

Taichi's Digimon partner, who resembles an orange baby Tyrannosaurus. Like most, he has a personality similar to his Digidestined partner, if a little less hot-headed. Like the Digimon of later series' leaders, he is almost always the first to discover the next upgrade of the season and is generally the most powerful.

Sora's pink-feathered bird-like partner, who often causes her some angst with her loyalty. More than a bit hyper.

* JustInTime: Saves Takeru from being crushed by Devimon, shows up when [[BigBadassWolf WereGarurumon]] is being beaten by Vamdemon, and saves Takeru and Hikari from falling to their doom at the hands of Piemon.

The last of the Digimon partners, who eventually partners up with Hikari. The only partner who spends most of her time in Champion form (not that it's easy to tell) and rather a contrast to Hikari's [[ChildrenAreInnocent youthful innocence]].

Also, who leaves your 8 year old kid at home to cook breakfast for the 4 year old kid?
** Taichi's dad does drink a beer in the series proper, when he comes home and checks Hikari's fever, but he's also one of the people leading the adults attacking the Bakemon when Sora and Mimi try to escape from the convention center. Getting drunk once does not make you an alcoholic, but not arguing about leaving the 8 and 4 year olds alone.
*** That's more of a culture difference. You watch enough anime that never makes it to Japan and you'll see it all the time. It also happens in RealLife. The Japanese instill the notion of 'responsibility' into their kids a lot sooner than Western countries, so they feel they're capable of doing small things without parental supervision. Also, in Japan they feel your job is your most important thing, not your family. Shown in {{Clannad}}, where a mother and a father leave their horribly ill only child ALONE for an entire day while they're both at work. In Japan, that's not only acceptable, it's considered the right thing to do.
