* MeaningfulName: The Puppet King rules over the Mannequins, using them as puppets. But he's also a metaphorical Puppet King - for all his power over the Mannequins, he's still subservient to Malak.

* ChainsawGood: She dual-wields two tonfas that have buzzsaws attached to them that allow her to shred anything that gets in her way.

* KickTheSonOfABitch: Considering that their nightmare stage attracts the souls of misogynistic abusers (more specifically, [[AllAbusersAreMale male abusers]]), then you won't be feeling sorry as the Reaper Nurses kill them in rather brutal ways.

* AmbiguousDisorder: She seems to be suffering from bipolar disorder. Doug describes it as making her become a mess.

* ActionBomb: Explode upon catching Doug, or if he uses Primal Fear.

* BabyBoomers: They are teddy bear cubs that have the ability to explode at will.

* SilverVixen: Has grey hair, and is smoking hot.

* FacelessGoons: They are some of the few monsters that completely hide their faces. In this case, they are covered up with medical bags that have black crosses on them.

** Subverted in "Bearly Buried." He starts amicably with Mama Bear and then starts losing his temper when the player, once again, escapes. * DealWithTheDevil: Malak has made himself a "profitable business," making deals with mortals in exchange for their souls, adding their power to his own, and making himself stronger. Humans are granted whatever they desire by Malak, but they have to give their souls in return when their time comes. [[spoiler:Bierce was one of these people. She used Agatha as a sacrifice for Malak and killed her to achieve fame and fortune. But when Malak came to collect, Bierce pulled a fast one with the completed ring. She managed to keep her soul, but Bierce is left trapped in her ballroom, and the completed ring is broken.]]

* ScrewTheRulesIHaveMoney: "He who has the gold makes the rules."

* EvilSoundsDeep: While it still quacks, it also has a deep, demonic voice behind it. In fact, if one listens closely to whenever it hits a pillar, it even says a very deep "Ow."

* DoesNotLikeMen: Not immediately obvious since [[FemaleGaze Doug's appearance at least appears to be to their liking,]] but they can't stand men and try to kill the player shortly after meeting him. [[spoiler:The second stage of the level takes place in a jail/dungeon masquerading as their "Therapy" center. The walls are scrawled with StrawMisandrist graffiti, such as "Men Are Stupid And Weak."]] E's notes also reveal that [[spoiler:they were created out of the souls of women filled with hatred and scorn for men.]]

* SlasherSmile: He already has one built into his "skin." His nightmare mode of exposing his teeth and gums just make it worse.

* NotInTheFace: Is very sensitive about her appearance and is furious that Doug triggering [[TurnsRed her Nightmare Mode]] made her "ugly."

* {{Tulpa}}: They're strongly implied to be this, as they all manifest from Doug Houser's various fears and troubled past.

* TheHeavy: While Malak is indeed the game's BigBad, the nightmare enemies are still the ones responsible for killing anyone who enters their realms and providing the scares.

* AffablyEvil: Towards women anyway. According to E's secret note, they genuinely welcomed her into their hospital and had no intention of harming her, even after she refused their offer to make her a Reaper Nurse. E was free to stay and explore the hospital as much as she wanted as long as she didnÂ’t disrupt their activities or enter the restricted areas. Sure enough, they only became hostile towards E when she entered a restricted area.

* HoistByHerOwnPetard: Much like Agatha, the Nurses can hear Doug whenever he opens one of the many doors in the hospital. However, the doors also give away their position while theyÂ’re cloaked.

* HospitalHottie: The Nurses have very attractive designs, but this trope isnÂ’t played straight, considering theyÂ’re very unnerving and not quite human.

* RunOrDie: [[spoiler:Unlike most bosses, Joy Kill has no true kill method. Any time it seems heÂ’s been escaped from or killed, he comes back.]]

Mama Bear is more of a passive presence on the map, slowly roaming while spawning Trigger Teddies for as long as she isnÂ’t stunned. Getting too close to her will cause Doug's vision to become blurry, and she will not hesitate to attack him herself either.

* TheAloner: So far, she's the only monster that doesn't have any doubles, minions, or the like to assist her. [[spoiler:Don't get excited, she calls in Malek, and as you see late in the level, [[AndIMustScream she's not quite alone in that school]].]]

* BodyHorror: Her arms are long, sharp, and look as if they were burnt. Her face also qualifies especially with the GlasgowGrin and large, black eyes. In her frenzy form, she also gains traces of blood around her burn marks.

* PersonOfMassDestruction: She's got a solo nightmare to herself, and you get to see the shadows of her previous victims on the windows in the school. [[InferredHolocaust These shadows practically line the walls of the school when you see them...]]
** It's to the point where she doesn't even get a new boss from ''"Monsters and Mortals"'' added to her level like the Monkeys and Watchers do, instead taking the bossfight section for herself.

* ScaryTeeth: Oh yeah. They all have this to varying degrees. A has a small mouth of fangs between its legs. B, C, E, and F have MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily with three of them being little more than a gaping mouth with legs. D has no mouth but fangs on the front for impaling its victims. G doesn't have pointed fangs but still looks plenty unsettling with its oversized pearly whites and gums covering the inside of the letter.

The main enemies in "Deadly Decadence". Four living statues who only move when Doug isn't looking in their direction. They're currently the fastest enemy in the game but they gradually slow down the closer they get to Doug. Their number is increased to seven in Zone 2, where the additional three Watchers don’t attack Doug upon being close enough but will still kill him if he makes physical contact.

* {{Tulpa}}: Their Nightmare seems to represent how [[spoiler:Doug loved his money more than his family and would spoil his mistress with expensive gifts (namely a new car).]]

* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: They're not called [[ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin Titan Watchers]] for nothing - their heads alone are taller than the manor they're guarding.
* AxeCrazy: They have ''way'' too much joy in throwing those axes

The main enemies in "Stranger Sewers". Six giant rubber duckies with legs who disguise themselves as the dummy Duckies littered around the map. They can also stun Doug using the smaller head they can extend from their mouths. The Dread Duckies become active once Doug gets close enough to them but they disguise themselves again should he manage to get away. In Zone 2, their number is increased to nine Duckies and they remain active upon dropping the disguise.

* BaldOfEvil: He has no hair on his scalp and his the main threat that Doug has to face.
* BenevolentBoss: Surprisingly, so far. We haven't heard what he says about them when Bierce and the protagonist aren't around, but he seems to have decent opinions about his minions. Agatha seems to revere him as [[ParentalSubstitute a father figure,]] is respected by the Reaper Nurses despite their hatred of men, refers to the Doom Ducky as "my loyal pet" and doesn't seem to hold the monsters' inability to kill the protagonist against them. In contrast, Bierce snarks at and insults the protagonist constantly.

** Subverted once again when one of the Q&As revealed that [[spoiler:in spite of Agatha's reverence for him, Malak views Agatha as more of a valuable pawn than a possible daughter.]]

* ChekhovsGunman: There are roundabouts in the manor featuring giant Gold Watcher statues looming over you. They're just for decoration...until the enhanced version came along.
