* OddNameOut: Gregor and Anatoly are indeed names that you would find in the game's general setting[[note]]The game takes place in the Tatras Mountains just south of the Polish city of Zakopane, but it's made clear that Gregor, Anatoly, Karin and Mariah all come from Ukraine[[/note]]. Karin could be short for the Slavic name "Karina", but it's not made clear that's the intention. Mariah, however, is very clearly an English name.

* EvenEvilHasStandards: They let the residents leave the cabin and either kill them before they can brave the flood waters, or wait for them to fail first before fetching the body. They're shaken when Karin cuts up a drugged Gregor and leaves him to pass out from shock and blood loss on the couch, especially when she says she was going to keep him alive for at least a week. They also pretty much sit back and allow Mariah to kill them when she answers their question correctly, despite being more than capable of overpowering her.

* ThoseTwoGuys: With Anatoly. Gregor is implied to have feelings for him, although it’s unknown if they’re reciprocated.

* NoNameGiven: The other Chompettes all had their names revealed during Chompette Origins, but Potato's is never mentioned.

* SamusIsAGirl: Agata and the Cupboard Spirit imply she's a woman.

* TranquilFury: Unusually, when Ryna and her friends are cornered by the Butcher of Zakopane, she doesn't seem scared. She looks mad. This is especially jarring when, after the Butcher is killed, she just stands there glaring at the screen, while her terrified friends try to flee.

* BigBad: Along with the protagonist, given that they cause Mariah, Anatoly, and Gregor to ‘leave the cabin’ and then eat their bodies. She also attacks the protagonist once they’re the only two left (if you don’t have all hearts with her) and eagerly becomes a serial killer duo if you do have all hearts.

* MoralityPet: The Protagonist seemed to be fond of him, to the point he spared him of the fate of being eaten… at least until he was killed by Potato. After Razael's death, the Protagonist still cares about him and willingly sent him to the afterlife.

* AmbiguousGender: The protagonist's gender is never outright revealed. They are implied to be a woman, since both Agata and the cupboard spirit reffer to them as "Ma'am" and "she".

* LackOfEmpathy: Seems to be incapable of empathising with anyone. Not only does they casually eat the people who come to their house, but doesn't seem to comprehend why this behaviour would bother others.

* UnholyMatrimony: In Karin's secret ending they join up as a serial killer couple.

* DyingAsYourself: Being the first to leave the cabin and die, she's the only one of the main characters who manages to avoid losing their humanity to cannibalism. Double subverted in the secret ending of Nightmare Mode, where she outlives here companions and survives by eating them, but still manages to hang on to her morality, kills the player character so that they will no longer be able to harm others, and goes on to do humanitarian work in order to make the world a better place, eventually dying as an old woman surrounded by loved ones.

* AmbiguouslyGay: For Anatoly, as after Anatoly leaves the cabin and drowns Gregor laments he "never got to tell [Anatoly] his true feelings. They also have cute pet names for each other. Gregor's feelings for Anatoly were since confirmed to be romantic by the developer in a Q&A.
* BigEater: Apparently as a kid, he'd go back not just for second helpings of dinner but third and fourths as well. His appetite as an adult hasn't diminished; the achievement for maxing out your relationship with him is even called "Gregor the Glutton".

* EvilCannotComprehendGood: The day after Mariah leaves the cabin, Karin reveals that Mariah lied about being the best swimmer in the group in order to persuade them to let her risk her life to go get help. Since you all knew Anatoly was the best swimmer, Karin is mystified why Mariah would lie about that. Given that Mariah is close with Anatoly and is generally a good person, it's clear that she lied so he wouldn’t have to go.

* TheGadfly: From day one, enjoys picking on others, particularly when she makes fun of Anatoly’s illiteracy and suggests that he read a picture book she found. This progresses from teasing to outright manipulation and evil when she later bullies him into leaving the cabin.

* MirrorCharacter: Celina is this to Mariah. Both are cheerful, energetic and friendly to everyone. They also have HiddenDepths.

* MirrorCharacter: Oleg is this to Anatoly. Both are cowardly, lie about their intelligence and are close to the other male of their respective gangs.

* MirrorCharacter: While the rest of the Chompettes mirror traits of the four Companions, Potato mirrors the protagonist themself, as a remorseless killer of innocent victims. He's however far more unhinged and taunting than the protagonist.

* WouldHurtAChild: As a serial killer he had no objection killing children, as Celina, Ryna, Oleg, Bolek and Razael can attest to.

* AloofDarkHairedGirl: As Ryna she was cold and withdrawn compared to the PerpetualSmiler Raspberry. Played with in that Ryna does express genuine happiness, amusement, and affection for her friends, while the always-smiling Raspberry is bitter and full of hatred for Potato and the player character.

* DeadpanSnarker: When she was alive her caustic remarks are about the only thing which can rein in her friends' antics.

* MirrorCharacter: Ryna is this to Karin. Both are withdrawn, aloof and their experiences in the cabin broke them. They also make [[SlasherSmile disturbing faces]] after their true nature is revealed.

* MirrorCharacter: Bolek is this to Gregor. Both are chubby, optimistic and close to the other male of their respective gangs. They also lost a close friend in a traumatic incident.

A lone chompette who appears in a secret ending. Used to be a boy named Razael, Bolek's cousin.

* MoralityPet: The Protagonist seemed to be fond of him, to the point he was spared him of the fate of being eaten....at least until he was killed by Potato. After Razael's death, the Protagonist still cares about him and willingly sent him to the afterlife.

* CanonDiscontinuity: According to WordOfGod, she was included as a Kickstarter reward, and that her existence is not meant to be canon.

* CreepyGood: His face is scary as hell, but all he wants is help Ryna to get ouf of the cabin.

* PetTheDog: Tells Ryna to give Razael's drawings to his surviving relatives, so that they would have some closure about his death. Of course Ryna can't understand what he's saying.
