* GoodParents: {{Implied|Trope}} - [[spoiler:Shirley's greatest fear is losing both of her parents]]. This actually makes her a {{Downplayed|Trope}} TeamNormal in that regard, as she is the only member of the Paladins to have a good relationship with both of her parents.[[note]]Lelouch's parental issues are literally the entire reason the plot of ''Anime/CodeGeass'' happens the way it does, Kallen is distant to both of her biological parents and hates her WickedStepmother for abusing her biological mother, Suzaku murdered his own father to prevent him from pulling a nation-wide TakingYouWithMe during the Pacific War, Rai doesn't even remember ''who'' his father is [[spoiler:and after learning that Emperor Charles is his father, basically treats him as a non-entity]], Milly's mother has been trying to force her into an ArrangedMarriage to restore the Ashford family's status as nobility, and Rivalz's father secretly planned to have Rivalz's little brother "kidnapped" and sold off somewhere just to avoid the "hassle" of splitting the inheritance (Cardemonde is Rivalz's mother's maiden name)[[/note]] [[spoiler:Shirley makes sure to rescue both of them before the Black Rebellion commences]].

* ForWantOfANail: Diethard isn't a member in this story, as Lelouch never had the opportunity to approve the reporter's application.

** CoolGuns: A rifle for Rivalz.

* HeroesWantRedHeads: Most definitely given his ShipTease with Kallen.

* ButtMonkey: During ''Zero's Return'', he gets his ass literally kicked by Kallen when he hesitated to get onto Aka and faints from shock upon seeing Voltron for the first time. He's later seen getting demolished by the Castle of Lions' gladiator drone. His thoughts in ''The Miracle Worker'' imply this happens several times off-screen.

* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Pizza, duh. One of the first things she does when the team [[spoiler:return to Earth]] is using a Pod to get boxes of Pizza Hut pizza, enough to ''fill the pod!'' She also hides her stash away from the rest of the Castle and treats it like a DragonHoard, and went ballistic once when Tamaki stole a few slices. She nearly sent him to the cryopods.

** Lelouch is also one to Lotor. Both are royalty who were exiled for daring to oppose their father. [[spoiler:Both are also part Galra, though Lelouch is currently unaware of his alien heritage]]. Finally, both tend to have a flair for the dramatic and stylize themselves in a DarkIsNotEvil manner, though they are willing to use extreme measures when necessary. All of this serves to highlight just how different they are:

* AdaptationalBadass: Lelouch had no personal combat skills in canon and only managed Knightmare victories in machines customized for his personal usage. At the same time, his Geass was more suited for manipulation than combat. Here, however, his Geass gives him ShockAndAwe powers, and he's able to outfight ''Cornelia'' using the Black Lion. [[spoiler:Additionally, ''Battle For Home'' sees him fully master his Geass, something he never achieved in canon]].

* AdaptationSpeciesChange: While he is purely human in his home series, here, it's noted numerous times that Lelouch is more like a ''Galra'' than a human, only furthered by the revelation that [[spoiler:Marianne was in possession of a Luxite Blade, the identifier for members of the ''Blade of Marmora'', heavily implying that not only is Marianne a CompositeCharacter with Keith, but also that she, Lelouch, and Nunnally are all [[HalfHumanHybrid part Galra]] by virtue of Krolia.]]

* StrongButUnskilled: The Lions are more advanced than anything Britannia has developed. However, with the exception of Kallen and Suzaku, the Paladins are still rookie pilots, which means that an EliteMook like a Knight of the Round can fight them to a standstill.

* UnskilledButStrong: The Paladins as a whole. The Lions are far more powerful than any Earth Knightmares, but save for Kallen and Suzaku most of the Paladins are relative rookies, allowing more skilled pilots like the Knights of the Round to actually give them a decent fight in some cases.
