The main protagonist. A scientist who inventions have a habit of not working as intended. Wanting to help his town of Swallow Falls. He invents a machine that can convert water into food and manages to launch it into the air. It seems to work fine at first but it doesn't take long for things to go south and he has fix his mistake.

* LockedIntoStrangeness: He made the spray on shoes that he used on himself in a demonstration to his class. But didn't think of a way to remove them and couldn't take them off. He's been stuck wearing them ever since.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Not intentionally, but his lack of understanding how technology works ended up with him sending the wrong usb file to Flint to stop the food machine.
* StayInTheKitchen: Male example, Flint requests this of him in the second movie so he doesn't get hurt by the dangers of the Foodiamls. He complies for a bit but ventures in anyway to look for his shop and comes across the living pickles.

* ManlyTears: Subverted and play straight in the second movie. He orders a tear back into his tear duct after first seeing the food animals. But at the end he allows it falls where it somehow manages to make chest hair.
* MySignificanceSenseIsTingling: He could sense Flint was up to something before he even found him.
* PapaWolf: The man loves his family that not even a tidal wave of food could stop him from saving them.

* TestosteronePoisoning: So manly he can regrow his beard in seconds just by force of will. Heck even his tears can give you chest hair.

Sam's rather mysterious cameraman

Short for the ''Flint Lockwood Diatonic Super Mutating Dynamic Food Replicator'', the titular machine that can make water into food. It winds up accidentally orbiting the air above the city which allow for the food to rain down on it when given commands. However it becomes overloaded and begins raining larger proportions on the town that threaten everyone. Forcing Flint to try to manually shut it down.

* {{Foreshadowing}}: Near the end of the first movie, the food it creates starts coming to life to attack the heroes. A sign of it's ability for the second movie.

A living strawberry that the group come across while explored the terraformed Shallow Falls.

The local cop of the Swallowfalls. Due to Flint's inventions, he has a bit of dislike of him.

* AIIsACrapshoot: After it become overloaded, it gains sentience and starts raining down larger sized proportions of food now only on Swallow Falls but the rest of the world as well.
