* KarmaHoudini: While the series had several examples of this trope, the grand champion is undoubtably Buffy herself. She pretty much acts in a self-centered manner from the beginning, treats her so-called friends as resources to be exploited starting in Season Two, casually decides to murder Faith in season three because a) Buffy doesn't like her and b) Buffy wants her boyfriend back; allows Angelus to escape several times, knowing that he's just going to kill more people; publicly humiliates Xander in a childish attempt to make Angel jealous; allows Xander and Willow to be endangered unnecessarily on several occasions, including using them as bait for Faith; mistreats and dismisses Faith out of jealousy; strings Riley Finn along and then gets angry when he has enough; effectively abandons her sister to the care of others because 'its hard'; never once considers how the death of Joyce affects anyone but herself; makes a cavalcade of bad decisions that unnecessarily endangers everyone around her; and finally treats everyone around her like dirt because she refuses to delegate or seek counsel and assistance from the competent people around her. And in the end, everyone still loves her.
