* [[spoiler: HeroicSacrifice: Gave up its life to protect the Abbess of Chek while Deis was speaking with the Endless.]]
* Jerkass: [[spoiler: Deis was hardly warm to Ershin when it was revealed that it had a mind of its own. She absolutely refused to go back inside, cruelly insisting it was never alive and that it should "go back to being a suit of armor," and then leaving it alone in Chek. She eventually realized how selfish this attitude was when Ershin gave up it's life to protect the Abbess, and goes back into the armor to rejoin Ryu.]]

to:

* HappilyAdopted: He was never interested in learning of his origin, and only sought to become the world's treatest greatest thief.

* TheHeart: Of the team, she is the most affected by the suffering she sees, and it is she who actually recruits the other members (except for Ershin).

* MoralityPet: Serves as one for Cray, in the beginning. One suspects that [[spoiler: the only reason the party got to six members at all is because Nina kept telling Cray to give them a chance.]] Cray outgrows the need for one eventually.

* ThePollyanna

* SpoiledSweet: She only wants to do right, but she is ''very'' naive about the world.

* TheBigGuyTheBigGuy: In looks and methodology. Personality-wise, he's closer to TheLancer

* [[spoiler:HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler: HalfHumanHybrid: His mother is human, his father (the previous chieftain) is Woren.]]]]
* [[spoiler: HeroicBSOD: In the game, after he mercy-kills Elina. He ''does not speak again'' until the final dungeon.]]
* HotBlooded: Somthing of a problem for him and his tribe. To his credit, he does try to control his temper, with varying success.
* IdiotBall: He's no DumbMuscle, but he still grabs firm hold of this at times, mostly in the beginning.

* KangarooCourt: the Ludian court isn't exactly on his side when he's on trial.
* PapaWolf: In regards to Nina. Considerably more explicit in the manga.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Chieftain of the entire Woren nation, at that.
* LoveHurts

to:

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: In the beginning, he's really something of a bully. [[spoiler: He all but forcibly conscripts Ryu into the party because of his prophetic dreams leading to Elina, and when they don't pan out, considers ditching him. He also beats up Marlok's bodyguard, forces his way into his house, and demands that he give information about Elina while offering nothing in return. His behavior toward the other members of the party, especially Ursula, isn't that great either, and he often ignores their needs entirely unless [[MoralityPet Nina speaks up for them]]. And that's not going into his illegal entry into TheEmpire, which caused a lot of people a lot of problems which he never apologized for.]] Despite all this, he really does care for Nina and is protective of both her and the party in his own way. And, through the wonders of CharacterDevelopment ([[spoiler:and a few rounds of BreakTheCutie]]) he pretty much drops the "jerk" part completely by the end.
* KangarooCourt: the The Ludian court isn't exactly on his side when he's on trial.
trial. To be fair, [[StrawmanHasAPoint they arent entirely wrong, either.]]
* PapaWolf: In regards to Nina. Considerably more explicit in the manga.

* LoveHurts
LoveHurts: And how.

* MoralityPet: Nina, in the beginning. One suspects that [[spoiler: the only reason the party got to six members at all is because Nina kept telling Cray to give them a chance.]] He outgrows the need for one eventually.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler: Finding Cray and Co. illegally across borders, assaulting Imperial soldiers nearly broke the ceasfire TheEmpire had with the Western Alliance, and by manufacturing a copy of the weapon that Cray also stole (and gave away to Nina, who gave it to Ryu, who ''broke it,''), TheEmpire was able to modify the treaty between the countries so that they could seize more land on the border, so that they could more easily search for Ryu. A ''great deal'' of trouble the Nakama face in the later Acts could have been avoided entirely if Cray has simply searched for Elena through proper channels.]] Well done, Cray.
* OnlySaneMan: Feels like this most times.
* PapaWolf: In regards to Nina. Considerably more explicit in the manga.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Chieftain of the entire Woren nation, at that.
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: His attitude concerning his search for Elena. He learns to grow out of it, though.

to:

* WhatTheHellHero: He faced a LOT of chewing out from the Ludian court for [[spoiler:his illegal entry into TheEmpire and his loss of a priceless hierloom and symbol of the kingdom.]] His response was to throw it right back.
** Ursula and Ershin also bluntly call him on bad leadership decisions.

* [[spoiler: HeroicSacrifice: Gave up its life to protect the Abbess of Chek while Deis was speaking with the Endless.]]
* Jerkass: [[spoiler: Deis was hardly warm to Ershin when it was revealed that it had a mind of its own. She eventually realized how selfish this attitude was when Ershin gave up it's life to protect the Abbess, and goes back into the armor to rejoin Ryu.]]

* [[spoiler:BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: It is implied in the game (and even more in the manga) that the reason Scias left the employ of Ludia was because he was touched by Nina's optimism and faith in him.]]

* [[spoiler:HeelFaceTurn: He entered the party in the employ of Ludia to spy on the party, but he reneges and returns the money.]]
* HiddenHeartOfGold: He tries to project the image of a Badass mercenary, but his campfire conversation and certain other events reveal that he's not nearly as devoid of concience as he pretends.

* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: Fond of delivering these to Cray.

* KarmaHoudini: Probably one of the most notable examples of this in video games, especially since he pulls it off ''twice.''

to:

* KarmaHoudini: Probably one of the most notable examples of this in video games, especially since he pulls it off ''twice.'''' [[spoiler:He's directly responsible for nearly every bad thing that happens in the game, and to get the best ending, ''you have to let him get away with it.'']]
