* FaceDeathWithDignity: When [[spoiler:Hollow Ichigo powers up the Cero]] that ultimately does Ulquiorra in, he reacts characteristically, calmly accepting that he's lost and stating that he has nothing else to lose, unlike most of the other Espada, besides Starrk, that died with a fear of death or cursing their enemies. [[spoiler:When he starts disintegrating, he just blinks, then tells Ichigo to hurry up and finish him. When the latter refuses, he calmly accepts ''that'', asks Orihime if she's afraid of him, smiles a little when she says no while reaching out for him, and spends his last moments reflecting on the heart.]]

* FaceDeathWithDignity: Compared to every Espada not named [[TheStoic Ulquiorra]], Starrk's final moments are not spent cursing his opponent or fearing the end, but rather just calmly and sadly noting he never got to thank Aizen for giving him and Lilynette what they always wanted: TrueCompanions.

* ShoutOut: Ulquiorra's ability of "recording" things with his eye and then tearing it out so other people can have access to what was recorded was faithfully based on Black Swan, a character from ''SaintSeiya'' -- of which Kubo is a fan.

* BareFistedMonk: For most of the time, since it's his fighting style. He completely dominated Ichigo with fists and legs in their first battle. After losing his left arm, Grimmjow was forced to draw his sword against Ichigo and Shinji, respectively, but he gave Ichigo a very powerful kick. He also started the third battle with his sword, but it was like a warm-up because Ichigo didn't wear his mask at this point. And when Grimmjow activated his ''Resurreccíon'', he fought only with his fist, claws and legs, though, he had projectiles in his elbows, but he used them only once.

* InformedAbility: His status as the strongest Espada is this. Whatever WordOfGod may have to say on the subject he never actually shows himself to be more than a blowhard, as Kenpachi and Byakuya, both already seriously injured from fighting Espada supposedly considerably weaker than him, were able to tear him apart without trying.

* AdaptationExpansion: The anime dedicated a handful of filler episodes to showing her backstory as a pacifist Vasto Lorde opposed to Barrigan's reign, protecting a trio of female Adjuchas - who later became her Fraccion - from the predations of other Menos.

* TooDumbToLive: At the beginning of the fight, he {{Flash Step}}s behind Byakuya and surprises him, but instead of cutting him down, he stops and explains that he is very fast. Then, he told Byakuya too much about how his Amor worked. Byakuya even lampshaded this trope by telling him that he was stupid to have revealed so much.

* TooDumbToLive: Would've won the fight if he wasn't {{Mind Rap|e}}ing Rukia the whole time.
