A hapless kid dragged into various misadventures by other members of the cast, Justin is generally seen looking for cover and wishing he could just go back home.

* ICan'tHearYou: A non-gag example. Lucy is completely deaf in her left, rendering her completely unable to hear someone or something that's on her left. There have been a few times where a character tries to talk to her, only for Lucy to not hear them at all because they were on her left side; sometimes just trying to get her attention.

* SuperSenses: Michael has excellent hearing, to the point that sudden yelling and pep rallies really [[CursedWithAwesome mess him up]]. [[http://www.bittersweetcandybowl.com/c42/p9.html Ace hearing]] indeed. [[spoiler:The trap in Confrontation took advantage of this to get the group in an alley for mugging.]]

* HopeSpot: About halfway through "Eternal Flame", she ends up encountering Mike after he had a fight with Sandy. After talking, they seem to have rekindled their relationship. [[spoiler:Sadly, it doesn't last long, as the following day, Mike and Sandy repair their relationship and Lucy is even more upset and no really doesn't want anything to do with him.]]

* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler: After returning from private school, she makes it clear she has absolutely no desire to revisit her toxic friendship with Mike. If this means cutting her other old friends out of her life then so be it. As we see in "Escape Route", she feels bad about it more than she let's on nowadays. And then there's the events of "Eternal Flame", where there's a brief HopeSpot for her friendship with Mike, if not their [[ShipTease romance]], which is [[FailureIsTheOnlyOption of course]] cruelly dashed not one chapter later.]]

Innocent and naive, Chirpy remains in awe of the world around her. She clings to Yashy and always does her best to follow the examples of grown-ups (while making frequent mistakes in the process.)

* PutOnABus: [[spoiler: Along with Lucy and the other pets in "Breaking Up". She continues to stay gone after Lucy returns.]]

** In the chapter "Return", it's revealed that Paulo now thinks of Daisy as more of a sister anyway, and doesn't mind her going out with another guy.

Aside from that, the boy she loved the most rejected her LoveConfession and gave her a ''painful'' TheReasonYouSuckSpeech, which led to her attempting to ''kill herself'', and she would've died if not for Augustus' help.]]

** Lucy's violence towards Mike is almost never called out by the main friend group, who continue to support her wholeheartedly. Mike's [[spoiler: rejection of Lucy's LoveConfession, as well as his [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech later treatment]] towards Lucy leads to all his friends gradually siding with Lucy once she comes back and distancing themselves from him]].

** SlapSlapKiss is her style. Interestingly, as she continues to grow up, she moves closer to becoming a KissKissSlap tsundere.
** This is also deconstructed after the first volume of the comic--[[spoiler: her years of abuse and longtime refusal to admit her positive feelings towards Mike leads to him both bitterly resenting her and becoming convinced she's only around him because of her dependency, not because she really cares. Eventually he explodes when she tries to mend things between them after a falling out.]]

** Lucy's pink Color Motif serves as a contrast to Mike's blue.
