Meet the inhabitants of Boston's scariest houseshare.

!!Aidan Waite
!!!Portrayed By: SamWitwer
A vampire who was a merciless killer for over two hundred years before he decided to clean up his act.
[[quoteright:320:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_1cast_aidan___cc___640x360_5240.jpg]]
* TheAtoner
* BeingGoodSucks
* BigBrotherInstinct: To Josh.
* BuriedAlive: [[spoiler:In the season 2 finale.]]
* CainAndAbel: With Marcus sort of since they're vampiric "brothers". [[spoiler: However in the 4th season with Sally having altered the events of the show Marcus and Aidan are shown to be on excellent terms as they laugh and get drunk on blood together. Marcus even remarks this "So good to see the Aidan I know and love is back".]]
* CartwrightCurse: To a ridiculous degree. Lampshaded by Henry.
* ChickMagnet
* DarkAndTroubledPast
* DeathSeeker: During the Season 3 episode ''I'm so Lonesome I Could Die.''
* DefiantToTheEnd: Mixed with HeroicSacrifice. When it becomes clear he isn't getting out of Liam's torture chamber alive, Aidan tries to protect Nora by lying about having killed Brynn, taunting Liam about how she begged for mercy. [[spoiler: Josh manages to rescue him in time, but not before Liam gives him a shot of infected blood.]]
* MrFanservice: Oh ''my'', yes.
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:In season 4's alternate timeline.]]
* FaceHeelRevolvingDoor: Season 4 shows that Aidan has a sordid history of this. Consistently JumpingOffTheSlipperySlope into villainy, then later becoming TheAtoner and a FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire to make up for his horrible deeds.
* FascinatingEyebrow: His eyebrows are incredibly expressive.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler: Mother claims the 'eternal madness' of being being buried alive is this. However Aidan considers her killing of Suren to be hers.]]
* FriendlyNeighborhoodVampire: Aidan tries but lapses frequently.
* GlamourFailure: Vampires have HypnoticGaze but you have to practice to be good at it. Aidan doesn't and isn't.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:He burns down their now abandoned house, with himself inside to destroy the murderous evil spirit inhibiting it.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Josh.
* HumanityEnsues: [[spoiler: Aidan becomes human at the end of season 4]]
* IHateYouVampireDad: Towards Bishop.
* ILoveYouVampireSon: Towards Henry. [[spoiler:And Kenny]]
* OffTheWagon and onto somebody's neck.
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: Was turned during UsefulNotes/TheAmericanRevolution, so well over 200.
* TeamDad: During the first two seasons. Getting [[spoiler: buried underground for a year]] pretty much erases his ability to fill this role, though.
* VillainBallMagnet: The harder Aidan tries to fix things the worse things get. Usually because he goes for the quick fix instead of simply taking things as they come.
* VitriolicBestBuds: [[spoiler:Marcus and Aidan's original relationship seems to have been this before Aidan left and went vegan.]]
* WarmBloodbagsAreEverywhere: Vampires often link blood and sex and Aidan does draw the ladies' attention.
* WithFriendsLikeThese: [[spoiler: The scene between Aidan and Marcus in the blood den during "Rewind, Rewind" seems to show that their relationship was more like this originally before Aidan left.]]

!!Josh Levison
!!!Portrayed By: Sam Huntington
Josh ''was'' a premedical student before getting turned into a werewolf.
[[quoteright:320:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_cast_josh___cc___640x360_9261.jpg]]
* {{Adorkable}}
* {{Badass}}: His wolf form is noted to be particularly formidable, able to kill several mature vampires and a more experienced werewolf on its own.
* BadassNormal: During the time that he's [[spoiler: cured]]. The self-esteem and perspective he gets following the events of the season 2 finale end up pushing him to become the most heroic member of the cast in season 3.
** EmpoweredBadassNormal: The badass factor doesn't go away after [[spoiler: Liam curses him again.]]
* BlatantLies: But is terrible at it.
* DespairEventHorizon: [[spoiler:Julia's death causes this. He blames her death on Ray.]]
* HollywoodNerd
* FantasticReligiousWeirdness: Josh is still Jewish, but no longer very observant, as he feels that Judaism would frown on the whole turning-into-a-wolf thing.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Aidan.
* HumanityEnsues
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: While Josh would fervently deny this, almost all the destructive and selfish things that he's done have been a result of ''his'' decisions as a human, not his lycanthropy or actions as a wolf.
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler: His premeditated murder of Ray. When he faces Ray again in season 3 he taunts a wolfed out Ray that he'll visit his son next and kill him too.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal
* InformedJudaism
* [[IHateYouVampireDad I Hate You Werewolf Dad]] [[spoiler: His relationship with Ray. This will most likely carry over to Liam now that he's been infected again.]]
** [[spoiler:Aidan solves the Liam issue by himself.]]
* MistakenForGay: By Danny. [[spoiler: And his parents, much to Aidan's amusement.]]
* MysteriousAnimalSenses: Around his "time of the month".
* OnlySaneMan: Of all the characters in the show, Josh is easily the one that tries hardest to be human.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: [[spoiler: After being turned a second time and passing through Donna's door, Josh became what can best be described as a reverse werewolf, being stuck in wolf form throughout most of the month and only becoming human again on the full moon. Sally uses blood magic to reverse this, but the spell was not completed correctly, and though Josh is now mostly human, he is still very much affected by his wolf throughout the month, having extreme mood swings and turning when he least expects it. As far as we know, he is the only werewolf in existence that can turn without a full moon, unless those he was forced into turning share his ability]].
* PapaWolf: Josh has become one for his adopted family. Ironically, [[spoiler:he's more of a wolf as a man protecting his family than he ever was as an actual werewolf.]] Even Liam is impressed.
* StatusQuoIsGod: [[spoiler:Spends most of the third season as a human once he kills Ray. Comes to an end when he attempts to save Aidan and winds up getting injured by Liam.]]
* ShapeshifterModeLock: For three months after the events of the Season 3 finale. It gets bad enough that he starts to [[spoiler:forget what it's like to be human]].
* TeamMom
* TookALevelInBadass: After he [[spoiler:kills Ray]]. The submissive, non-confrontational Josh of the first two seasons is gone in season three, replaced by a Josh that is confident and not afraid to face danger head-on (or even to ''take a life'') to protect his family.
** He becomes incredibly powerful after [[spoiler:his curse worsens, to the point where he can single-handedly fight off multiple vampires without the influence of the full moon]].
* TookALevelInJerkass: His anti-social personality worsens in season 4, to the point where Nora feels the need to sleep with a knife under her pillow. [[spoiler:In the alternate timeline Sally creates, alternate Josh is incredibly put off by her presence and so dismissive of her pushing him into a relationship with Nora, he gives up on relationships completely.]]
* VillainProtagonist / WellIntentionedExtremist: [[spoiler:During the season 2 finale when he plans to kill Ray. He does claim to do it to cure Nora but it's clear he blames Ray for Julia's death.]]
* WolfMan

!!Sally Malik
!!!Portrayed By: Meaghan Rath
An impulsive young ghost who is trying to find her place in the world now that she's dead.
[[quoteright:320:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_cast_sally___cc___640x360_8215.jpg]]
* AmbiguouslyBi: Sally tends to come off as this on occasion. For instance while talking at Emily, Josh's sister, she says she could make her feel happy. And when Nora comes over, Sally promptly quips that she's hot and has nice boobs.
* AmbiguouslyBrown: "Get Out of My Dreams, Get Into My Mouth" revealed she is at least part Indian (as in South Asian, not Native American).
* AxeCrazy: after it's revealed that [[spoiler: the Reaper is actually her]].
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:She was brought back from Limbo via BloodMagic in Season 3, meaning she temporarily had a corporeal body again.]]
* ButterflyOfDoom: [[spoiler:After Sally uses magic and is sent back in time to the night she died, she decides to save herself from her own death at the hands of Danny. As she still possesses knowledge of her life with Aidan, Josh, and Nora, she tries her best to rewrite history with herself still part of their lives but saving them from all of the problems that befell them. This backfires entirely on her: Bridget dies when she dates Danny leaving her to suspect Danny killed her. She becomes a werewolf instead of Nora, keeping Josh and Nora from ever becoming close. And when she and Aidan fall in love, it only drives Josh away from them and with Ray, ultimately resulting in her death, again.]]
* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Her plot in season 3.]]
* CuteGhostGirl: Naturally.
* DeadpanSnarker: She has her moments.
* DraggedOffToHell: [[spoiler:What appears to be her fate at the end of season 3.]]
** Season 4 reveals this is effectively the case, though it was to a place better described as a space between worlds to prevent Sally from causing irreparable harm to the universe. She gets out.
* EnemyWithin
* GhostAmnesia: Sally is initially unclear on the circumstances of her death.
* GhostlyGoals
* HandOrObjectUnderwear: While in an illusory spa in Season 4.
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:Gives up her spiritual essence to turn Aidan Human, effectively destroying herself.]]
* ImAHumanitarian: [[spoiler:Has to consume living flesh in order to prevent her undead body from rotting]].
* JacobMarleyApparel
* TheKillerInMe: [[spoiler:Though it's more like ''The Grim Reaper'' in me.]]
* LikeABadassOutOfHell: [[spoiler:Not actually Hell, but Purgatory and some other dimension Donna was keeping her locked in]].
* MindOverMatter: May depend on her stress level.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Sally's attempts at helping people almost always backfire in some way.
* NightmareFetishist: Sally definitely has her moments, such as her conversation in the Season 2 finale where she urges Josh to carve up Ray with some garden shears rather than shoot him.
* NinjaPirateZombieRobot: In season 4, she becomes a [[spoiler:time-traveling]] ghost witch [[spoiler:werewolf, possessing her own body, in the past, from the future]]
* NotUsingTheZWord: [[spoiler:In season 3 Sally abhors being called a zombie or implying that her deterioration is actually the act of decomposition.]]
* OurGhostsAreDifferent
** OurZombiesAreDifferent
*** OurWitchesAreDifferent
**** OurTimeTravelIsDifferent
* RefusalOfTheCall: In Season 3, Sally no longer wants anything to do with trying to help ghosts and other people as it has always ended badly for everybody. She goes so far as to disperse ghosts who try to ask her for help. She turns around by Season 4.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler:Season 2 reveals that she began going insane after missing her door, and only snapped back to reality after shredding herself]].
* SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong: [[spoiler:After being sent back in time to the night of her death, she manages to merge with her past self and now TrappedInThePast decides to use her knowledge of her life with Josh and Aidan to make their lives in this timeline better, but only makes things worse.]]
* SheCleansUpNicely: Her dream self certainly does.
** [[spoiler:Even more so after being reanimated. Straightened hair and snazzier clothes did a wonder for her appearance.]]
* StatusQuoIsGod: [[spoiler:Sally's reanimated body gives out in the second to last episode of season three. The bright side is she's at least in a new dress and not wearing her pajamas anymore.]]
* TooSpicyForYogSothoth
* VillainProtagonist: [[spoiler:When she's revealed to be The Reaper. And in the season 2 finale she eagerly assists in planning Ray's murder, even possessing Ray's wife in order to lure him to his death. "Scott" even calls her out on it.]]
* VillainBallMagnet: Every time Sally says the phrase "I can help" expect the lives of everyone around her to be worse off then before she met them.
* WhodunnitToMe
* YouCanSeeMe: In the pilot.

!!Nora Sergeant
!!!Portrayed By: Kristen Hager
A nurse at the hospital that Josh and Aidan work at. Gets turned into a werewolf by Josh in the first season, and moves in with the other three in Season 3.
[[quoteright:320:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/rsz_cast_nora_135515723719___cc___640x360_4906.jpg]]
* TheAtoner: [[spoiler:She is trying to make things right with Josh after running off with Brynn.]]
* BelligerentSexualTension: With Josh until they start dating.
* CursedWithAwesome: How Nora views her lycanthropy.
* CuteMonsterGirl
* DarkAndTroubledPast: She once had a boyfriend who mutilated her stomach. [[spoiler: Then she ate him]].
** Her family life wasn't that great, either.
* DeadpanSnarker
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: A huge flaw of her character; her ex-boyfriend, in her backstory. Brynn, in season 2 and Erin, who has a history of violence and running away; that she completely ignores.
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Instead of trying to defuse the situation, she decides to help Josh kill Ray and shoots him.]]
* LackOfEmpathy: Her monologue to Josh in Season 2 Episode 7 that she is not afraid that she [[spoiler: killed her ex-boyfriend]] but rather that she doesn't feel any remorse about it.
** [[spoiler: By season 3, this has changed.]]
* {{Muggle}}: At first...
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: It would seem that wolves turned from humans with a lot of emotional baggage (an abusive boyfriend, in Nora's case) are even more violent, since their built-up anger is not inhibited in wolf form. Nora also reveals that she can remember everything from her transformations, which is probably due to her being more accepting of the transformation than Josh.
* ScarsAreForever: They even appear on her werewolf form.
** [[spoiler: Her scars have now been healed as of Season 4, thanks to Sally's newfound magic powers.]]
* SixthRanger
* TookALevelInJerkass: In season 3, after taking in Erin as her legal guardian, she become increasingly hostile towards Aidan, [[spoiler:even after Erin poisons him and tries to kill him.]] And starts pressuring Josh into choosing between his friendship with Aidan and relationship with her to the point of implying he needs to kill Aidan.
* [[ZombieInfectee Werewolf Infectee]]: at the end of Season 1.

[[folder:Humans]]
Humans living in Boston who interact with the cast. They don't generally stay human very long. Supporting characters that spend a significant amount of screen time as humans but are turned into monsters later in the series will also be listed under this section.

!!Bernie
!!!Portrayed By: Jason Spevack
A young boy from the neighborhood Aidan befriends. Killed when he walked into the street and was hit by a car. [[spoiler: Rebecca turns him thinking it would make Aidan happy, but Aidan later kills him because he's made to believe Bernie can't control himself.]]
* EnfantTerrible: [[spoiler:After he's turned.]]
* TookALevelInJerkass: Not so innocent after [[spoiler: Rebecca turns him]].
* ShootTheDog: [[spoiler:What Aidan does to him after he turns.]]
* UndeadChild

!!Danny Angeli
!!!Portrayed By: Gianpaolo Venuta
Sally's fiancé (now ex, as their relationship was ended by her death) owns the house now rented by Josh and Aidan. [[spoiler: Responsible for Sally's death.]]

* BackForTheDead: [[spoiler:A twofer. We find out he's dead AND he gets reaped in the same episode]].
* {{Muggle}}
* CrazyJealousGuy: [[spoiler:to the point where he assumes she's sleeping around after her ring falls down the drain. He then "accidentally" kills her.]]
* IsThatTheBestYouCanDo: Towards Sally's ghost.
* {{Jerkass}}: Wasn't very nice to Sally when she was alive, [[spoiler: ''killed her'']], and when she tries to haunt him he taunts her about it
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler: He picked up on a lot of ghost tricks more quickly than Sally did after he died. He says this was due to him dying in prison. It doesn't help him.]]
* TheSociopath: How in the hell did he get married to Sally in the first place?

!! Emily Levison
!!!Portrayed By: Alison Louder
Josh's younger sister with a rebellious streak a mile wide.
* TheAlcoholic: Between seasons 3 and 4 Emily has to go into rehab. When she gets out she tries to crash with Josh and Nora but their chaotic life (with a magical assist from Sally) almost leads her to an OffTheWagon moment. She leaves because her fragile sobriety can't handle it.
* TheLadette: Man, can she pack away the booze.
* LipstickLesbian
* MagicalQueer: When she shows up, it's almost always to give Josh advice or encouragement.
* {{Muggle}}: She is later informed of the {{Masquerade}} after a botched attempt at a bachelor party for Josh where he is attacked by a vampire stripper.

!! Julia
!!!Portrayed By: Creator/NatalieBrown
Josh's ex-fiancee, who he left at the altar when he became a werewolf.
* HighSchoolSweethearts: With Josh.
* LookBothWays: [[spoiler:Failure to do this results in her death.]]
* {{Muggle}}
* NewOldFlame: For Josh.

!! Kat Neely
!!!Portrayed By: Deanna Russo
A history professor and friend of Nora's that Aidan becomes romantically involved with.
* GeekyTurnOn: She and Aidan initially bond over their shared knowledge of early American history. What Kat doesn't know is that Aidan only knows about these things because he lived through them!
* {{Muggle}}

!! Kenny
!!!Portrayed By: Connor Price
A teenage boy born with a severely weakened immune system that lives in a glass enclosure in the hospital to protect him from disease. Since he has had almost no contact with germs throughout his entire life, Aidan starts using him as a supply of clean blood.
[[quoteright:347:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_kenny_8112.png]]
* BubbleBoy: Portrayed completely seriously. He eventually comments that what he has is not a life, and he will walk out of the room when he turns 18, resulting in his death unless Aidan turns him.
** He also hates it when people call him a BubbleBoy.
* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Because he was vamped with cursed werewolf blood, Kenny came back as an extra hungry, extra disgusting vampire.]]
* GenreSavvy: There isn't much to do in his enclosure other than watch movies, so he recognizes Aidan as a vampire almost immediately.
* VampireWannabe: Though you could hardly blame him, given his initial condition.

!!Robbie Malik
!!!Portrayed By: Jesse Rath
Sally's younger brother who returns to Boston in an attempt to scam Aidan and Josh out of the rent money they owe his and Sally's father, as he inherited the apartment after Danny and Sally's deaths. When he sees Sally after she is reanimated, she rushes to find a way to save his life, otherwise he will die due to the magic. He returns in season 4 to evict the group from the house.
* BackForTheDead: [[spoiler:Is killed by an unknown entity in the house in "Cheater of the Pack."]]
* CassandraTruth: Season 4 shows that Robbie knew Danny was bad news from the start. [[ForegoneConclusion Sally didn't believe him.]]
* {{Muggle}}
* TheUnfavourite: Sally was the success, Robbie was the drug-addicted screw-up.

A secret society of vampires active in Boston. Aidan is a high-ranking individual in the Family, but has been trying to distance himself from them since he decided to live like a human.
!!Bishop
!!!Portrayed By: Creator/MarkPellegrino
Aidan's brilliant, cold, and ambitious maker.
[[quoteright:317:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_bishop_6400.jpg]]
* AffablyEvil
* BlondGuysAreEvil
* TheChessmaster: Bishop will always win in the end. It might take 50 years, but he'll get you if he wants you.
* EvenEvilHasStandards
* EvilMentor: Used to be this for Aidan.
* {{Hallucinations}}: Sometimes appears as a figment of Aidan's imagination when he starts to lose his grip.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters
* ILoveYouVampireSon: It's clear that Bishop genuinely cared about Aidan.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:In the Season 1 finale]].
* LastNameBasis
* NonhumanLoverReveal: The episode "Dog Eat Dog" revealed that Bishop was once very much in love with a human nurse.
* OffWithHisHead: [[spoiler:Aidan decapitates him with barbed wire.]]

!!Henry
!!!Portrayed By: Kyle Schmid
A headstrong vampire that was created by Aidan.
[[quoteright:284:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_henry_8519.png]]
* AmbitionIsEvil: What drives Henry. Even after an 80 year exile he desires power and status.
* ChronicBackStabbingDisorder: He and Aidan have a tendency to screw each other over, and then save each other.
* [[FlayingAlive Flayed Alive]]: As retribution by Suren.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: As a human, Henry was rather timid and tame, if expressing curiosity and desire to experience being a soldier and killing. As a vampire, he's cocky, bold, and perfectly willing to act on his ambitions and killer instincts.
** Come season 3... [[spoiler: he's glamoured a human girl into being complacent with being imprisoned so that he has a supply of untainted blood to survive on.]]
* HandsomeLech
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor
* TheMedic: Before he was turned.
* MindControlEyes: Standard for vampires, but Aidan often had Henry do it for him because Aidan himself is terrible at it.
* NormallyIWouldBeDeadNow: Henry is harder to kill than a cockroach. He served in World War One, was a fugitive from the vampire world for eighty years, got ''skinned'', extricated himself from a meat hook, and when the plague came around, he ''still'' wouldn't die. [[spoiler: The plague eventually does him in, though]].

!! [[spoiler:Kenny]]
!!!Portrayed By: [[spoiler:Connor Price]]
The new ruling vampire of Boston during season 4. After [[spoiler:Bishop's death]] and the plague wiped out most of vampires, he rose to power.
[[caption-width-right:214:[[labelnote:Click here(spoiler)]]http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_vampire_kenny_8036.png[[/labelnote]]]]
* FromNobodyToNightmare: [[spoiler:Kenny has gone from being a BubbleBoy to the ruling vampire in Boston.]]
* {{Glamour}}: When we first see [[spoiler:Kenny]] in Season 4, he looks completely normal. However, a later episode reveals [[spoiler: that Kenny is still a deformed vampire, and he is using his mind control powers to appear normal. Since he is contaminated by werewolf blood, he has the power to compel other vampires.]]
* GreenEyedMonster: He orders some vampires to attack [[spoiler:Josh]] Because he was jealous of [[spoiler:Aidan]] spending time with him.
* IHateYouVampireDad: At the start of season 4 he wants nothing more than to hang out with his maker [[spoiler:Aidan]]. [[spoiler:But after Josh kills his werewolf girlfriend and Aidan lies to protect him his feelings turn sour.]]
* InterspeciesRomance: With a werewolf. [[spoiler: Til Josh kills her.]]
* KilledOffForReal
* MindManipulation: [[spoiler:He can compel even other vampires and can appear normal even to those not looking him in the eye.]]
* {{Revenge}}: [[spoiler: Against Josh for the death of his werewolf girlfriend. In his final act he compels Aidan into trying to kill Josh.]]
* WalkingSpoiler

!!Marcus
!!!Portrayed By: Vincent [=LeClerc=]
Bishop's power-hungry right-hand man.
* EvilAlbino
* CainAndAbel: With Aidan. [[spoiler: However in the 4th season with Sally having altered the events of the show Marcus and Aidan are shown to be on excellent terms as they laugh and get drunk on blood together. Marcus even remarks this "So good to see the Aidan I know and love is back".]]
* DragonWithAnAgenda
* DrivenByEnvy
* [[EvilMinions Evil Minion]]
* EvilRedhead
* KilledOffForReal
* RemovingTheRival: Attempts to at the end of the 1st season.
* SuperLoser
* TheStarscream: [[spoiler:To Bishop. It doesn't end well for him.]]
* TheUnfavorite: Or as Bishop repeatedly refers to him as "the mistake".
* TheRival: Sees Aidan as this.
* VitriolicBestBuds: [[spoiler: Marcus and Aidan's original relationship seems to have been this before Aidan left and went vegan.]]
* WithFriendsLikeThese: [[spoiler:The scene between Aidan and Marcus in the blood den during "Rewind, Rewind" seems to show that their relationship was more like this originally before Aidan left.]]
* WouldHurtAChild: [[spoiler: Marcus kills a pair of young boys on Bishop's orders.]]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: [[spoiler: In season 4 its shown that Marcus and Aidan may have actually been friends and got along. Aidan's choice to leave The Family and stop drinking live seemed to have been the cause of the rift in their relationship; hence the animosity in season 1.
* YouNeverDidThatForMe: After Bishop gets mad at Marcus for attacking Emily; Marcus remarks that if it had been Aidan, Bishop would have essentially patted him on the back.

!!Mother
!!!Portrayed By: Deena Aziz
The most powerful and ancient vampire of them all, who returns to Boston in Season 2.
* GodSaveUsFromTheQueen
* BusCrash: [[spoiler:After Season 2.]]
* MyBelovedSmother: To Suren.
* NiceJobFixingItVillain: Ironically, burying Aidan allowed him to survive the plague that killed her and most of the other vampires.
* OffingTheOffspring: [[spoiler:Suren refuses to kill Aidan, so Mother stakes her.]]
* OneBadMother
* ReallySevenHundredYearsOld: There's no telling how old she may be. Her "daughter" is at least 700, and Heggeman is supposedly over 1,000. Mother is said to be [[TimeAbyss far older than both of them]].

* BuriedAlive: Spent 80 years buried as punishment for [[spoiler: nearly breaking the {{Masquerade}} over Henry's betrayal with a human.]]
* ClingyJealousGirl: As shown in the flashbacks but she is shown to have gotten mostly over it.
* TheCorrupter: Trying in season 2 to get Aidan to go back to his old ways.
* InadequateInheritor: Generally regarded as this by Mother.
* ItsNotYouItsMe: Left Aidan so Mother wouldn't have him killed.
* LonelyRichKid
* MafiaPrincess: Of sorts.

!!Brynn and Connor [=McLean=]
!!!Portrayed By: Tracy Spiradakos and Jon Cor
Purebred werewolf twins that offer to fund Josh's research.
[[quoteright:295:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_mclean_752.png]]
* AffablyEvil: Brynn. According to Nora when running off with her off-screen, she is much more sadistic.
* AndIMustScream: They describe their human existence like this. Josh is uncomfortable with heightened senses and moods the few days before a full moon, they feel that way ''every moment'' they're not wolves.
* [[BullyingADragon Bullying A Vampire]]: Taunting Aidan was probably not the best move, Connor. [[spoiler: Especially since he had a rifle loaded with silver bullets]].
* CorruptTheCutie: They basically do this to Nora.
* {{Jerkass}}: very much so.
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:Both of them. Connor was first killed by Aidan and later Nora killed Brynn during the time she ran away with her.]]
* MoralityChain: Nora suggests that Connor was this to Brynn, not the other way around. Of course, this is a relative chain since Connor's idea of a good time is torturing vampires and hunting them down for fun. One can only imagine what Nora might have seen Brynn do without Connor's influence.
** It's suggested that it's torturing and eating humans.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: They're pure-bred werewolves whose senses are constantly heightened, not just a day or two before the full moon.
* PunyHumans: What they think of everyone else.
* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob
-->'''Josh:''' I'm pretty sure she had a pony when she was a little girl... right until the day she ATE it...
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: [[spoiler: Connor turns into a werewolf when he dies.]]

!!Erin Shepard
!!!Portrayed By: Lydia Doesburg
A runaway teenage werewolf. Josh finds out she's a werewolf after she comes to his hospital for a "dog scratch" during a full moon. Nora decides to take her in as her new legal guardian.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:Is killed by Liam after being hospitalized by Aidan.]]
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Has been through 27 different foster homes in less than two years, according to her, the foster brother were molesting her.
* SixthRangerTraitor: She moves in with the main cast and is basically a new Roommate. [[spoiler:Until she betrays their trust and tries to kill Aidan.]]
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness

!!Liam [=McLean=]
!!!Portrayed By: Xander Berkeley

* AntiVillain: If you think about it, extermination of all vampires WOULD probably make the world a better place, and much of his motivation comes from love for his children, but he's also a major antagonist.
** On the other hand, he also has very little regard for humans, so in that sense, he's not really any better than the vampires he claims to be superior to despite his other claim of being part of 'nature's will'. Plus, despite being concerned with the safety of werewolves, he doesn't really have any reverence for other werewolves either, generally using them as pawns or tools.
* {{Badass}}: He was introduced into the show by killing an entire room full of (admittedly sick) vampires.
* EvilCounterpart: Well... eviler anyway to Bishop. Both are very similar in a lot of ways but Bishop at least made the attempt at being civil and civilized. Liam clearly partakes in human culture because of necessity or because it's useful.
* FantasticRacism: Against vampires.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Seems to hold this view. Or PunyHumans at least.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Like his children, he's a pure-bred werewolf.
* PapaWolf: Literally.
* WouldHurtAChild: Liam [[spoiler: smothers Erin in her hospital bed after she fails to murder Aidan]]

* BrokenPedestal
* FantasticRacism: Against vampires. Although considering how vampires treat his kind, it's somewhat understandable.
* IHaveAFamily: [[spoiler: When Josh has him at gunpoint, Ray references this.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: He tracks down Josh because he wants a measure of normalcy that he used to have before he became a werewolf.
** The second season reveals that he went back to his wife and son.

!!Nick Fenn
!!!Portrayed By: Pat Kiely
An old crush of Sally's from college when he was her T.A. He died several years prior and he and Sally reunite for a brief romance.

* FateWorseThanDeath: Combined with OurGhostsAreDifferent, because he died in a drowning accident he relives the moment of his death, being strangled underwater and drowning all over, again, culminating in an explosion of ghostly water.
** [[spoiler:He later ends up being "reaped" by Sally while she's under the influence of Scott, and is sent to Limbo where he is forced to keep drowning except for the times Sally manages to pull him out to try to escape.]]

** Didn't think we were done yet, did you? After [[spoiler: passing through his door, his soul is destroyed and consumed by Donna.]] Poor guy can't catch a break.
* MayDecemberRomance: He and Zoe start dating, despite the fact that he's a ghost.
* StakingTheLovedOne: Zoe bashed his head in when he attacked her. His ghost was totally cool with it.

* CartwrightCurse: To a ridiculous degree. Lampshaded by Henry.
* ChickMagnet
* DarkAndTroubledPast

** [[spoiler: By season 3, this has changed.]]
* {{Muggle}}: At first...

* HandsomeLech
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor
* TheMedic: Before he was turned.
* MindControlEyes: Standard for vampires, but Aidan often had Henry do it for him because Aidan himself is terrible at it.

[[spoiler: The plague eventually does him in, though]].

* {{Jerkass}}: very much so.
* RichIdiotWithNoDayJob
-->'''Josh:''' I'm pretty sure she had a pony when she was a little girl... right until the day she ATE it...
* ThisWasHisTrueForm: [[spoiler: Connor turns into a werewolf when he dies.]]

!!Erin Shepard

A runaway teenage werewolf. Josh finds out she's a werewolf after she comes to his hospital for a "dog scratch" during a full moon. Nora decides to take her in as her new legal guardian.
* AssholeVictim: [[spoiler:Is killed by Liam after being hospitalized by Aidan.]]
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Has been through 27 different foster homes in less than two years, according to her, the foster brother were molesting her.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness

!!Liam [=McLean=]
!!!Portrayed By: Xander Berkeley
Brynn and Connor's father, who comes to Boston in the third season to try and find out what happened to to his son and daughter.
[[quoteright:323:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_dad_mclean_8812.png]]
* FantasticRacism: Against vampires.
* HumansAreTheRealMonsters: Seems to hold this view. Or PunyHumans at least.
* OurWerewolvesAreDifferent: Like his children, he's a pure-bred werewolf.
* PapaWolf: Literally.
* WouldHurtAChild: Liam [[spoiler: smothers Erin in her hospital bed after she fails to murder Aidan]]

** [[spoiler: He's killed again in the penultimate episode of Season 3.]]
** [[spoiler: He's killed '''once again''' in season 4, in an alternate timeline, this time by Aidan]]
* BrokenPedestal

* CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Along with Sally in season 3]]
* FateWorseThanDeath: Combined with OurGhostsAreDifferent, because he died in a drowning accident he relives the moment of his death, being strangled underwater and drowning all over, again, culminating in an explosion of ghostly water.
** [[spoiler:He later ends up being "reaped" by Sally while she's under the influence of Scott, and is sent to Limbo where he is forced to keep drowning except for the times Sally manages to pull him out to try to escape.]]
** And then, after he escapes ''that,'' [[spoiler: he becomes a ravenous flesh-eating zombie who eats cats to keep from rotting, and very nearly eats his girlfriend Zoe as well. Being bashed in the head and becoming a ghost again is actually a relief for him]]
** Didn't think we were done yet, did you? After [[spoiler: passing through his door, his soul is destroyed and consumed by Donna.]] Poor guy can't catch a break.
* MayDecemberRomance: He and Zoe start dating, despite the fact that he's a ghost.
* StakingTheLovedOne: Zoe bashed his head in when he attacked her. His ghost was totally cool with it.

!!Stevie Adkins
!!!Portrayed By: Robert Naylor
A friend of Sally's who committed suicide while they were still in high school over bullying. They reunite when Sally decides to go to her high school reunion as a ghost, mostly to confront the popular girl who died recently. * CameBackWrong: [[spoiler:Along with Sally and Nick in season 3]]
* ButtMonkey: Alive or as a ghost; Stevie just doesn't have any luck.
* FateWorseThanDeath: [[spoiler:After being shredded by Sally, Stevie's punishment in limbo is to watch his family live on happily without him as he hung from a tree outside, despite the fact he overdosed.]]
* ICannotSelfTerminate: [[spoiler:Begs this of Nora, because he's too scared to commit suicide. Josh volunteers to put him down.]]
* ImAHumanitarian: [[spoiler:Despite Sally's warnings never to see his family again, Stevie gives into temptation and visits his mother and father who are happy to see him, but are cursed to die because of the spell. As his flesh craving hunger hits him during the decomposition, he decides to eat his parents' corpses. He admits this to Sally and Josh, and later admits that he also killed and ate the mailman.]]

* [[HunterOfHisOwnKind Hunter Of Her Own Kind]]: a vampire whose main mission in life is to kill other vampires who prey on and kill humans
* KnightTemplar: She is almost completely uncompromising in her ethics and mission.
* OffingTheOffspring: [[spoiler:She accidentally killed her son in a fit of bloodthirst.]]

!! Donna Gilchrist
!!!Portrayed By: Amy Aquino
A strange woman that works at a local soup kitchen. She also happens to be a practitioner of the occult arts, and offers to bring Sally back for Josh and Nora... for a price. She later asks Sally to close up her only portal into the living plane, her death spot.]]
[[quoteright:230:http://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/being_human_donna_8220.png]]
* AffablyEvil: Is actually pretty friendly to Sally in the season 4 premiere. Of course, she admits that she's just biding her time as pleasantly as possible until Sally inevitably gives her what she wants.
** Proves to be just as affable when helping Sally later in the season.
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Donna reveals to Sally that she died once already, and her becoming a witch was a result of this.]]

* BloodMagic
