* FreudianExcuse: His very existence lies solely on the reaction of [[ForWantOfANail neglect that Phoebe's receiving from her father]], and a notch of her deep fascination to flying death machines. Thus, a product line of Kid Ultra units come after her line of work as an engineer.

* AmbiguouslyGay: It wasn't brought up in commonplace but Kleese did mention about making a fanfic dedicated to Rath, up until he realized Rath is not a vampire. He also gets disappointed when an LLC member Captain Ghalt was hiring turns out to be female (Phoebe).

** This goes so far in some of the Battleplan lore. In [[https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/battleplan-35-1-19-17/1554465 35]], she shows up to play with the other Battleborns in a tabletop game. * MiniMook: Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation introduces some really small Spider Sentries, or at least really small in terms of giant spider robots. One type introduced are the S1.Arachmites which are extremely small Sentries similar in design to the Supervisor Antem Sentry from "The Experiment" mission. These are so small that they are practically the same size as the tiny Swarmers. Another type introduced are the S1.Samurai which are dual sword wielding Sentries similar in design to Geoff. While bigger than the Arachmites, their size just makes them comparable to regular sized enemies. Both of these Sentry types are basically mooks in boss clothing but still register as Sentries when destroyed in achievements.

[[folder:Spider Sentries]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ChristopherSabat

Spider Sentries are giant spider-like robots. Like Minions, they are LLC products that are sold to and used by every faction and everyone in the Solus system.

In competitive multiplayer, Sentries are primarily featured in the Incursion multiplayer mode wherein they, to use a {{MOBA}} term, serve as the "towers" for the two opposing teams. There, teams of players must defend their Sentries from their opponents and their opponents' Minions while attacking their opponents' own Sentries alongside the players' own Minions.

In story missions, Sentries are either boss characters or characters that need to be escorted. Notable named Sentries from the missions include Geoff from '''The Algorithm''', Wolf from '''The Void's Edge''', and Chronicle from "'The Archive'''.

In the DLC Story Operation "'''Oscar Mike vs. the Battle School'''", a Sentry serves as a final boss in each playthrough session. What type of Sentry is faced however changes.
----
* AIIsACrapshoot: Thanks to being cut off from the Magna Carta and going mad, many of the Spider Sentries believe their spideriness extends to more than their appearance and even want to be actual giant spiders. Most notable of them is Geoff who completely believes he's an actual giant spider and has dubbed himself Arachnis the Spider King, Lord of all spiders. Geoff in fact seems to be major influence in encouraging the idea among the sentries further based on some lines of dialogue.
* TheBusCameBack: In Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation, [[spoiler: both Geoff and Wolf come back as bosses]] despite seemingly been destroyed in the main story. In an operation playthrough, [[spoiler: either Geoff now more identified as Arachnis, or Wolf now called Dire Wolf]] is faced off against as the final boss for the session.
* CameBackWrong: In Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation, [[spoiler: Wolf from "The Void's Edge" mission who was previously sent to the Void as a bomb to close the massive Varelsi portal returns. Unfortunately, he has come back wrong which he even says so. He has somehow become some sort of Varelsi Sentry hybrid which is most evident by the waving Varelsi tentacles that now stick out from his head. This along with him saying that had seen things, Old things, has him being appropriately renamed as Dire Wolf.]]
* CutscenePowerToTheMax: The very opening animation of the game has the Battleborn battle against a particular Geoff-like Sentry with a wide range of abilities, which range from dual wielding swords to shooting off missiles. While a number of things of what the Sentry does in the cutscene are indeed things that other Sentries are capable of doing in normal gameplay, no one single Sentry is actually capable of doing all those things in the normal game.
* DualWielding: Dual wielding swords is something some Sentries tend to do. Instances include the following:
** In the opening animation of the game, the Geoff-like Sentry the Battleborn face is capable of dual wielding swords along with its other host of abilities.
** In "The Prologue" mission, the relatively smaller Spider Sentry known as the Huntsman which serves as the boss dual wields with swords.
** The unique S1.Samurai encountered in Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation are basically small samurai based Sentries that dual wield swords.
** Also from Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation is [[spoiler: Heikegani, a masked samurai Sentry that can be encountered as the final boss for a playthrough session instead of Arachnis or Dire Wolf. Being that Heikegani attacks and behaves almost similar to the Huntsman, he too dual wields like the prologue boss.
* EscortMission: "The Void's Edge" and "The Archive" involve escorting the sentries Wolf and Chronicle respectively.
* GiantSpider: It's a belief by the Spider Sentries who have [[AIIsACrapshoot all gone crazy]] that they are actual giant spiders rather than just simply [[SpiderTank giant spider robots]]. None believes this more than Geoff who has dubbed himself Arachnis the Spider King, Lord of all spiders.
* GiantEnemyCrab: While still technically a Spider Sentry in design, [[spoiler: Heikegani]] from Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation apparently takes inspiration more from crabs than spiders [[spoiler: as his name comes from [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heikegani a type of Japanese crab]]. Said crab's most notable trait is having a shell that resembles a human face which many believe to be the face of an angry samurai and is thusly nicknamed the Samurai Crab. Heikegani is a samurai dual sword wielding Sentry who wears a very Japanese-like mask.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: In "The Void's Edge" mission, Wolf having been made into a bomb and reprogrammed to be completely oblivious to the actual nature of his suicidal mission, jumps to his apparent death into the Void to close the massive Varelsi portal. Some Battleborn cry in light of his sacrifice while others [[BlackComedy mock it]]. [[spoiler: He returns in Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation. Unfortunately, he CameBackWrong and he had seen things while in the Void, Old things.]]
* InsistentTerminology: Geoff persistently insists that he's Arachnis and an actual giant spider much to ISIC's chagrin in "The Algorithm" mission. [[spoiler: In Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation, he's no longer referred to as Geoff but instead Arachnis.]]
* MiniBoss: Geoff serves as a mini boss in "The Algorithm" mission. Supervisor Antem who may or may not be an actual Sentry serves as a mini boss in "The Experiment" mission.
* ScaryLibrarian: As the keeper of Eldred knowledge, Chronicle from "The Archive" mission technically qualifies. He will often shout things like "Quiet! Quiet in the library!" and "Enemies of free thought!" while mowing down enemies with machine guns.
* ShoutOut: When killed by a sentry in Incursion, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ouin1WltUE it'd sometimes do a taunt]] just like the playable characters. Said taunt is [[Film/GuardiansOfTheGalaxy Star-Lord's]] distinct cranking FlippingTheBird take.
* SpiderTank:
** Spider Sentries are giant spider tank-like robots akin to those from series like ''Franchise/GhostInTheShell'' and such. The thing with them though is that a number of them think they are actually giant spiders rather than giant spider robots.
** In "The Experiment", a rather unique looking Sentry serves as the mission's MiniBoss. Due to the dialogue, it's a bit unclear if Supervisor Antem is an actual Sentry or just one of Rendain's lackeys riding in a Spider Sentry-like tank.
* TheseAreThingsManWasNotMeantToKnow: In Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation, [[spoiler: Wolf from "The Void's Edge" mission who was previously sent to the Void as a bomb to close the massive Varelsi portal returns. Unfortunately, he says that he had seen things, Old things. This along with him [[CameBackWrong coming back wrong]] has him being appropriately renamed as Dire Wolf.]]
* TooDumbToLive: The wolf sentry in the mission "The Void's Edge" is tasked with destroying a Varelsi portal by leaping into it and detonating a huge pack of explosives. Because this will obviously kill him, Kleese programmed him to be totally oblivious to the suicidal outcome of the mission, literally making him too dumb to live. When Kleese explains what Wolf has to do, he replies "Awesome, that sounds both fun and safe."
* WeaponizedOffspring:
** Subverted in a sense in Geoff's boss fight. He acts like he's giving birth to spiderlings and siccing them on the Battleborn. Technically though, he's just deploying Minions making him more of a FlunkyBoss in this regard.
** In Oscar Mike's DLC Story Operation, it's played slightly more straighter in a sense [[spoiler: with Geoff. More identified as Arachnis in the operation, he's gained the ability to not only deploy Minions as he did before, but also deploy actual spiderlings in the form of the small Arachmite and Samurai Sentries.]]

It's often mentioned by characters and in lore however the exact details of what actually happened and why the Magna Carta just suddenly went dark aren't explained. The only inkling of detail of what may have happened is in one of Marquis' lore challenges. The Great Severance apparently happened during the battle of Jennar, around the time Rendain's forces had overtaken the Empress's Imperial cruiser and an anomaly happened in the Jennar system.

Added DiffLines:

* LennonSpecs: For his Dr. Garrius Winglehopper persona in the 8th playthrough of the operation, he dons a pair of blue round glasses.

Added DiffLines:

* MorallyAmbiguousDoctorate: The moniker he uses in the 8th playthrough of the operation is Dr. Garrius Winglehopper. With the title of doctor accompanying it, the name is clearly styled after those of typical evil {{mad scientist}}s and the like. Given Thaddeus' habit of constantly changing his name though, the doctor part is obviously just in name only.

Added DiffLines:

* ArmCannon: Kid Ultra has Franchise/MegaMan-inspired arm cannon gauntlets. His right gauntlet is capable of firing rockets either as singles shots or in spiraling groups of three. His left gauntlet is capable of firing [[EnergyWeapon energy bolas]] that can damage and slow enemies. These modifications were installed by Kleese to give the otherwise nonlethal TechnicalPacifist toy robot an edge in battle.
