* DropTheHammer: Its main weapon was a swinging hammer, along with a set of movable drive pods that could in theory act as clamps to hold opponents in place while attacking. In practice, however, the hammer was weak and the drive pods only got in the way of it.

Whilst strong, its downfall came when the spinner stopped working against Ghost Raptor, meaning the flipper ran out of power as well.

* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: Its main weapon is an angle-adjustable spinning dome on the front. It was petrol-driven in its original appearance (where notably, it ripped fellow ''Battlebots'' veteran Nightmare to shreds), but was swapped out for a more powerful electric motor in the reboot.

* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: A powerful full-body spinner.

* AndNowForSomethingCompletelyDifferent: Aside from the black-and-yellow colour scheme, Radioactive bears no resemblance whatsoever to the team's most famous creation, Behemoth. Behemoth is BoringButPractical, MadeOfIron, armed with a simple-yet-effective lifting scoop, and is able to NoSell most spinners. Radioactive is AwesomeButImpractical, MadeOfPlasticine, armed with a completely ineffectual axe, and was torn apart by Tombstone in short order.

* HeAlsoDid: Reason Bradley and his Inertia Labs group were a famous and feared team from the original run of ''Battlebots'' with their innovative pneumatic flipper robots Toro, T-Minus and The Matador, the first two of which won championships. Bronco is basically the spiritual successor of both Toro (the most famous of the lot) and The Matador (which it physically resembles the most).

* HeAlsoDid: Donald Hutson is best known for building heavyweight champion Tazbot and two-time superheavyweight champion Diesector, both from the original ''Battlebots'' series.

* HeAlsoDid: The team are best known ''Series/RobotWars'' competitor Behemoth, which is rather more successful and [[MadeOfIron a lot more resilient]].

* [[HeAlsoDid She Also Did]]: Lisa Winter is best known as the creator of the iconic lightweight smotherbot Tentomushi. She later returned to the Tentomushi design for Season 2, with Mega Tento, and had slightly more success with it.

* HeAlsoDid: Team Razer is also famous for their multiple championship-winning competitor [[http://robotwars.wikia.com/wiki/Razer Razer]], primarily known from ''Series/RobotWars''.

* HeAlsoDid: Counter Revolution's television fate obscures the pedigree of its builder Curt Meyers, a robot combat veteran whose career stretches back to the very beginnings of the sport in the early 90s. He's best known for his robot Kill-O-Amp, which began competing in 1997 and appeared in the first three Comedy Central seasons of ''Battlebots''.

* HeAlsoDid: Builder Zach Bieber is best-known for creating '''El Diablo''' (Middleweight) and '''El Diablo Grande''' (Heavyweight), which competed in the original series of ''Battlebots''.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Ray was easily the most cocky competitor in the tournament, which came back to bite him in the ass. However, [[MeanCharacterNiceActor it's clear that he was playing it up for the cameras]].

* MeanCharacterNiceActor: Ray is a pretty decent guy in real life, with the other competitors having nice things to say about him. It's believed he was playing the villain role at the producer's request.

* [[PersonOfMassDestruction Robot of Mass Destruction]]: Whenever Tombstone's in the ring, the result is pure carnage.

* TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty: The infamous net that Young baited Ghost Raptor with, hidden inside a giant birthday present. The net succeeded in entangling the weapon and breaking it, but the match was called off and a rematch was held in place, where it subsequently lost.

* ConsolationPrize: After being blown apart by Icewave in the qualifiers, it was eventually rebuilt and won against [[TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty Complete Control]] in a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW0PdgTC8eU grudge match]] that was not shown on TV.

Then when it fought [=HyperShock=] and it seemed like it was about to lose, their engine broke, allowing Bite Force to move on. Then when it fought Ghost Raptor, their engine stopped working, allowing them an easy-knockout.
* CurbStompBattle: Against Warhead and Ghost Raptor. He was on the receiving end of one from [=HyperShock=] until [[DeusExMachina its engine gave out]].
* DarkHorseVictory: Of all the robots seeded in the Top 4, Bite Force was easily the most ignored. All bets were on Tombstone, Icewave, and Bronco taking the win, with some bets on Stinger, with the hosts themselves even hyping Tombstone vs. Icewave as the finals.
* DefeatingTheUndefeatable: Defeated Tombstone, widely seen as the favorite-to-win, in the finals. It was a close match.
* EarnYourHappyEnding: Came within inches of defeat against [=HyperShock=], was nearly knocked out by Overhaul, and had to face [[TheDreaded Tombstone]] in the finals, where the fight was extremely close. In the end, Bite Force earned the title.

* NonIndicativeName: An incidental example, but "Bite Force" ends up being this since it uses its main weapon in only two of its five matches. It doesn't do a whole lot of "biting".

* TechnicalPacifist: Doesn't direct hurt its opponents being a grabber, and this is true for the wedge variation.
* UnderdogsNeverLose: Was viewed as fodder for the "big boys", ended up winning the championship.
* WeakButSkilled: In a sense. Bite Force can't do much in the way of direct damage, and its grabber isn't the most reliable when it comes to lifting bots. However, through a combination ingenuity and superior driving, he can overcome the most dangerous opponents.
* WrestlerInAllOfUs: Did a ''suplex'' on Warhead.

* AlwaysSecondBest: He lost to Ventimiglia in the finals, who had beaten him in prior competitions.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Ray was easily the most cocky competitor in the tournament, which came back to bite him in the ass. Though, it's [[MeanCharacterNiceActor clear that he's playing it up for the cameras]].
* BornLucky: His first two fights were against [[JokeCharacter Joke Robots]], and when he was the verge of losing to Witch Doctor, they ended up getting flipped over after Tombstone broke it's own blade hitting them.

* CurbStompBattle: Against Counter Revolution, Radioactive, and Bronco. It was thought that he would curb-stomp his way to the Giant Nut.
* TheDreaded: He's the #1 seed for a reason. If you go up against Tombstone, you better have some good protection or you're going to get torn to pieces.

* {{Heel}}: The editing clearly portrayed Ray as the "villain" of the competitors.
* LaserGuidedKarma: He dealt one final unnecessary blow to Bronco just before the buzzer went off, which caused recoil damage and spilt his batteries out. This may have cost him the championship, as he went up against Bite Force in a damaged state.

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: His "fights" against Counter Revolution, Radioactive, and Bronco are this. Subverted against Witch Doctor, where ''he'' was on the receiving end of that beatdown (but still won due to sheer luck). Averted against Bite Force, where they were pretty closely matched and he lost in the end.

* TrashTalk: He ''loved'' doing this.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Pitzer got this kind of edit, as he seemed quite over-confident.
* AtArmsLength: This is how Ghost Raptor was able to defeat Icewave, using the de-icer arm to hold Icewave away from his robot until it unbalanced and self-destructed.
* BornLucky: His first opponent Complete Control hit a crack in the floor and had driving problems, his second opponent Warrior Clan had functioning issues. Averted against Icewave, where it was HoistByHisOwnPetard.
** His luck ran out against Bite Force, where it finally shut down and got knocked out.
* DarkHorseVictory: ''Everyone'' thought he was going to lose to Icewave. Boy, were they proven wrong.
* ImprovisedWeapon: All three of their weapons after losing their blade were metal pieces welded to the robot.
* {{MacGyvering}}: How he made it to the semi-finals. After breaking his original weapon, he added new parts in each fight to compete in the game. This resulted in the "de-icer", a metal arm that allowed them to defeat Icewave.

* WimpFight: Ghost Raptor's bout with Complete Control went a lot like this due to both bots being damaged within a minute of the match.

* ImprovisedWeapon: Extended the flipper to get under Tombstone. It didn't work.
* RingOut: Defeated Stinger by flipping it outside the arena. Also defeated Witch Doctor by flipping it and pushing it up to the screws, and flipping Plan X up against the wall.
* SingleStrokeBattle: Their "fight" against Plan X ended after 10 seconds, with just one flip ending it.
* SpannerInTheWorks: His defeat to Tombstone ended with the latter hitting him at the last second to show off to everyone. The result was Tombstone busting open its insides and damaging its internal battery. Cue the final match-up against Bite Force, where Tombstone weapon stopped working, which may have been the factor that denied him the championship title.

* CurbStompBattle: Both of their "fights" against Razorback and Chomp. Subverted against Ghost Raptor, where they were on the ''receiving'' end of it.
* DiscOneFinalBoss: Hyped as the biggest contender for the Giant Nut alongside Tombstone, was taken out in the quarters.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: Twice. First after defeating Razorback, his engine was completely destroyed from the amount of energy it took and had to be completely rebuilt. Then, when he fought Ghost Raptor, they completely ignored the de-icer and ended up being set off-balance, flipping them over.

* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: Dished one out on Razorback and Chomp.

* CameBackStrong: Was defeated by Lock-Jaw in a split decision, then came back thanks to the Wild Card and subsequently defeated Lock-Jaw in the rematch.

* HandshakeRefusal: They infamously refused to shake hands with Hutson after losing to him, on the grounds of him accidentally attacking Overhaul a few seconds after the match had ended. When they won on their rematch, they did shake hands.
* LittleBitBeastly: The robot equivalent- in all its fights, it had a pair of plush cat ears (The red triangles in the picture) mounted on its clamping arm, and later had googly eyes added to it for the three-way rumble.
* MyGreatestSecondChance: One of the four Wild Card winners.
* NeckSnap: They suffered the robotic equivalent of this in the 3-bot rumble at the end of the series at the hands (or blade) of Nightmare- the whirling blade caught them under the clamp and tore it off the lifter, snapping it back, rendering it useless and almost tearing it off the robot altogether. It was gruesome to watch.
* SitcomArchNemesis: With Donald Hutson after their late hit, though it's mostly [[UnknownRival one-sided on their part]].
* SoreLoser: They're often seen as this due to refusing the handshake with Hutson.
* TechnicalPacifist: As a combined Lifter and Clamp, it doesn't directly damage its opponent.

* ActionDuo: They're multibots, two of them to be exact.

* BornUnlucky: Was just about to defeat Tombstone in the quarter-finals, then it got flipped over with no way to right itself.
* BrokeYourArmPunchingOutCthulhu: They broke Tombstone's weapon, which would've ensured their victory... if they hadn't flipped themselves over in the process.

* KillItWithFire: Shaman was armed with a flamethrower; arguably the most effective one in the competition, managing to cook one of Bronco's motors even though Witch Doctor itself was defeated with ease.

* MyGreatestSecondChance: One of the four Wild Card winners.
* TookALevelInBadass: Who would've thought that the robot that was fodder for Bronco would come back, and then proceed to rip apart [=OverDrive=] and subsequently bring Tombstone to his knees?
* WinBackTheCrowd: Not very well-regarded at first, but after they used their wildcard to take out Overdrive and give Tombstone their biggest challenge to date they gained a lot of popularity.

* AdaptiveAbility: Has several different attachments that can be equipped, though we don't get to see all of them.
* BeeAfraid: Stinger is bee-themed, as you could expect.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown[=/=]CurbStompBattle: Its fight with Warhead was more-or-less a three minute long beatdown.

* [[SaveTheVillain Save the Opponent]]: Maxham generally tries to help his opponent get back on their wheels after being turned over. Didn't quite work with Shrederator, but it worked with Warhead, allowing it to take the British robot to a Judges' Decision.
* SingleStrokeBattle: Took out the feared spinner Captain Shrederator in Round One with one flip against the wall.

* CainAndAbel: With Mohawk, operated by Will's brother. They fought on the first match, [[CurbStompBattle though the fight was so quick and boring it wasn't televised]].
* DiabolusExMachina: Had their engine not failed, they would've beaten the champion.

* ICouldaBeenAContender: They nearly took out the eventual champ. Had their engine not failed, they would been a serious contender in the tournament.

* AuthorAppeal: Was named and themed around mid-20th century Science Fiction films, which Lisa Winter is described as being a big fan of. In particular, the name seems to be influenced by Ed Wood's ''[[Film/Plan9FromOuterSpace Plan 9 from Outer Space]]''.

* AwesomeButImpractical: Warrior's design revolved around [[EverythingsBetterWithSpinning a spinning body with teeth]] that powered a clutch-driven flipper, becoming more powerful the more it span. Whilst strong, its downfall came when its spinner stopped working against Ghost Raptor, ergo stopping the Flipper as well and leaving it vulnerable.
* BornLucky: Were very lucky to get through their first match after Nightmare accidentally flipped itself over. However-
* BornUnlucky: -then their weapons broke against Ghost Raptor, leaving them sitting ducks.

* AwesomeButImpractical: Designed to resemble a biomechanical scorpion-like creature, complete with segmented armour plating, an adjustable spinning weapon, and moveable "wings" and tail for righting itself when flipped on its side. An impressive design certainly, but its narrow wheelbase means it has trouble hitting its target without throwing itself in the air.

* BornUnlucky: One of the most feared spinners of the original show, but got matched against 2 of the best anti-spinner designs in the new one.

* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: Its main weapon is an angle-adjustable Spinning Dome on the front. It was petrol-driven in its original appearance (Where notably, it ripped fellow ''Battlebots'' veteran Nightmare to shreds), but was swapped out for a more powerful electric motor in the Reboot.

* AintNoRule: They accurately pointed out to the referee that the rule prohibiting entanglement weapons from being used had been removed from the rulebook in the reboot (along with the ban on flamethrowers). However the referee stood firm that the net they used against Ghost Raptor (which they'd hidden ''inside a gift-wrapped box'' held in Complete Control's clamp) was illegal, most likely because it wasn't actually part of the robot and hadn't been declared as a weapon before entering the arena.

* LoopholeAbuse: Tried using a net to incapacitate Ghost Raptor, stating it wasn't in the rulebook. Of course, they were forced to have a rematch, minus the net of course.
* TechnicalPacifist: Their main weapon was a pair of lifting/clamping arms designed to lift opponents right off the ground and effectively carry them about for maximum control (Hence the name), humiliation, and when used in conjunction with the Flamethrower, [[WebAnimation/HomestarRunner burnination]].

* WimpFight: His fight against Ghost Raptor was a lot like this. Both were damaged in the beginning, Complete Control being damaged by the floor while Ghost Raptor broke its own blade in half. As such, it was two robots going against each other with little fighting capability.

* EpicFail: Lost to ''Radioactive'', the [[JokeCharacter Joke Robot]] of the season, because the weapon couldn't work.

* PlayingWithFire: Mohawk's gimmick is that it grabs it opponent and shoots fire down on its victim. So far, this hasn't been proven to be effective.

* AchillesHeel: Because it lacks self-righting, being turned over is this to it. So Stinger did just that to beat it.

* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: Suffered the robotic equivalent of this, after one last hit from Tombstone hurls it across the entire Battlebox, eventually landing in a heap in the corner.

* GlassCannon: The defining one in ''all'' of robot combat. While the details of its design have changed throughout its more than 15-year history, Nightmare has always been an enormously powerful spinning blade carried around the Battlebox by a fragile, practically-unarmoured framework. Jim has also never managed to work a srimech into the design, so once Nightmare is overturned (Which needless to say, is not difficult to do) it's done for. But if it ''hits'' you then, well, [[OneHitKill heaven help you.]]
* OneHitKill: Its famous [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlUlGMKCBBE battle against Slam Job]] shows exactly ''why'' Nightmare is such a legend on the fighting robot circuit.

* AwesomeButImpractical: Sure, a walker bot looks cool but is utterly ineffective in a combat setting. If anything, he was lucky enough not to be matched against a far more dangerous robot than Plan X. Imagine what would happen if it fought a robot like Tombstone or Icewave...
* HandicappedBadass: More emphasis on the 'handicapped', being the only non-wheeled bot it could hardly move around, making it utterly ineffective despite having a deadly blade.
* YankTheDogsChain: After being dominated by Plan X the entire fight, Wrecks had a literal last second comeback where he tore the left side of Plan X just before the buzzer went off. However, this wasn't enough to sway the judges, who unanimously gave the victory to Plan X.

* AnArmAndALeg: Reduced to a pile of scrap after its fight with Icewave, though it wasn't ''quite'' as bad as what Chomp would later get.
* BornUnlucky: Not a bad bot, but he did receive a bad match-up against Icewave.
* ConsolationPrize: After being blown apart by Icewave in Round One, it was eventually rebuilt and won against [[TryingToCatchMeFightingDirty Complete Control]] in a [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FW0PdgTC8eU grudge match]] that was not released on the television version.
* {{Determinator}}: Even as he was being torn apart, he still continued to fight until the very end. In fact, Razorback ''still had a wheel moving'' after being counted out.

* LethalJokeCharacter: Many jokes by fans, other drivers and the commentators have been made in the expense of Wrecks' awkward and slow waddling movement. Most driver, however, are cautious not to touch its nasty blade -- normally not a hard thing to do... until its rumble with Witch Doctor and Bite Force [[spoiler: where, in a shot assisted by Bite Force, Wrecks' blade ''knocked Witch Doctor into the air and straight out of Battlebox!'']]

* WearingAFlagOnYourHead: Has the American flag painted on top, which is a reference to the robot's entry in ''[[Series/RobotWars Robot Wars: Extreme Warriors]]'' as The Revolutionist.

* [[DeTerminator Determinator]]: Despite being [[VillainForgotToLevelGrind clearly]] [[CurbStompBattle outmatched]] by the two top anti-spinner designs in both its fights, it still kept going even when it was [[NoHoldsBarredBeatDown being rammed and flipped all over the place]]- with the commentators noting it showed "a lot of heart" to survive against Stinger in particular.
* EverythingsBetterWithSpinning: Its main weapon is an adjustable Spinning Dome on the front. It was petrol-driven in its original appearance (Where notably, it ripped fellow ''Battlebots'' veteran Nightmare to shreds), but was swapped out for a more powerful electric motor in the Reboot.
* GloryDays: Although it was one of the most feared spinners around in its original appearance and indeed going into the competition, it wasn't really able to show any sort of pedigree in the new series.

* HumiliationConga: Both of its fights against Bite Force and Stinger were, outside of one or two good hits, three-minute long bouts of humiliation.

* [[VillainForgotToLevelGrind Warhead Forgot To Level Grind]]: Moral of the story- this is what happens when you bring a thirteen-year-old robot into a 2015 competition almost completely unchanged from before.

* LongRunner: After Nightmare, it was the oldest robot competing on the show, and helmed by the very experienced Team Razer, most known for their appearances in ''[[Series/RobotWars Robot Wars]]''. Unlike Nightmare however, [[VillainForgotToLevelGrind it hadn't really made as many major changes since its last appearance]] (Outside of updating the internals to modern standards), which quickly proved to be its downfall.

* LongRunner: The oldest robot taking part in ''Battlebots 2015''. You get the feeling it's there because, without Nightmare, it just wouldn't be ''Battlebots.''

* LongRunner: Mike Winter was Middleweight Champion of the original 1994 ''Robot Wars'' in San Francisco (With X1), and both he and his daughter Lisa were previous competitors from the 1994 early days of ''Battlebots'', most notably with their Lightweight machine [[http://battlebots.wikia.com/wiki/Tentoumushi Tentoumushi]].
