* GlowingEyesOfDoom: a deadly adversary who wears a helmet with glowing purple eyes.

* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness:Played with. Deadshot was employed by Hugo Strange to tie up loose ends regarding Protocol 10. One of the targets on his list, right after Batman, is Bruce Wayne. Since Strange knew that Batman and Wayne were the same person, it is very likely that he sent Deadshot on a wild-goose chase to keep him inside Arkham City long enough for Protocol 10 to start [[spoiler:hoping that the killer would die during the bombing. It doesn't work.]]

* EvilGenius: [[SmugSnake Nigma isn't quite as smart as he thinks he is]], but he's still highly intelligent.

* TookALevelInJerkass: As shown in ''Origins'', he was rather AffablyEvil as Enigma, and complimented Batman for his achievements and saying he would actually help him if he just asked at some points. By the time he adopts his Riddler persona, he's gone completely over the deep end and refuses to acknowledge any achievements other than his own.

* VillainDecay: While motivated partially by ego, as Enigma he wanted to expose the corruption of Gotham's elite, was a DracoInLeatherPants, and could actually elude Batman. By the time of ''Asylum'' his attempts to improve Gotham by killing the dumber part of the population are just a mask for just wanting to outsmart Batman, who can more easily track and capture him now, and his looks aren't that great.

* NobleDemon: As Harvey Dent. Technically speaking, as Two-Face as well, in that he is actually a far more BenevolentBoss than any of the other crime lords in the Arkham Gang War.

* YourLittleDismissiveDiminutive: "Can you feel the time approaching, little pigs?"

* {{Expy}}: Replace his fighter jet pilot-like mask with a space helmet and he's a dead ringer for The Fury from ''MetalGearSolid3''. While Firefly as a character is much older than the fury, his modernized look in ''Origins'' is certainly inspired by him.

* LonersAreFreaks: Not that the other members of Batman's Rogue's Gallery ''aren't'', but unlike the other villains, who at least tend to surround themselves with henchmen, the Riddler is only ever seen and encountered alone.

** Seemingly averted when it comes to Riddler Trophies. If The Cat tries to pickup one of The Bat's trophies, she can and will, despite the Riddler electrifying hers for Batman. While many are impossible for her to get to, some of the simpler ones can be grabbed with no issues, and a couple are trivialized due to her unique skills. Then again, one Batman trophy (in the Museum, by taking a left before the gladiator pit in the Museum) is impossible to reach with Batman and features a nearby Catwoman trophy.

** It's likely unintentional, but in ''Arkham City'', he bears an uncanny resemblance to Creator/StephenMerchant.

* DealWithTheDevil: Joker's interview tapes with Hugo Strange reveal that he's willing to work with the guy in exchange for making his last days of his life "more comfortable."
