* {{Foil}}: To Benton. Both are active adult figures that are extremely fond of Bakugan-related things, look after the heroes and help guide them (the Awesome Brawlers in Benton's case, Ajit for Storm), even if with questionable methods, eventually being corrupted by the season's antagonist (Tiko and Haavik). The difference lies in that while Benton's actions were for the benefit of Bakugans, Storm's intentions lie more in giving Ajit his Phantom Thief legacy, being more self-interested (which kickstarts Ajit's decision to leave him when he doesn't understand his actions and puts into doubt wanting to remain his apprentice).

* {{Foil}}: To Kravitz prior to the second season. Both work into business management and much like Everett, Kravitz engaged in showy and superficial fronts (such as by hiring the EXIT and then the Awesome Ones) in order to gain success and reputation (albeit in [=AAAnimus'=] name instead of her own). However, while Kravitz changed her ways after becoming head of [=AAAnimus=] and worked to genuinely support public safety and peace with Bakugans, Everett only ever cares about his own gain. Additionally, while she mostly hired Brawlers to perform for her and knew when to withdraw, Everett got more personally involved in his endeavors and developed into a SoreLoser.
* FromNobodyToNightmare: Initially just a lousy profiteer with shady business techniques in the first season, his second appearance has him outright supporting a project that'll taint Bakugans' reputation so long he can gain money from it. If that's not enough, he goes as far as blackmailing Lia into working on the project after she realizes the changes he's made without her permission, threatening to sabotage her career if she decides to walk out of the production. It culminates in Haavik corrupting him after Lia manages to ruin his film, making him part of the season's threat. Even after he's freed, he engages in scams to steal people's Bakugans and works for the benefit of Gregorius Reed when he thinks he can make a profit out of the Battle Judgment.

* {{Foil}}: To Tiko. Both fought to free Bakugans from having to brawl, thinking the combats would hurt and exhaust them and it being a cruel fate. However, while Tiko eventually came to understand the bond between humans and Brawlers made the brawls worth a try, Sophie remained deaf to the heroes' pleas, confused that the Bakugans are "brainwashed" into wanting to brawl. Also, as a Bakugan himself, Tiko knows the importance of brawling for Vestroia's ecosystem and worked towards changing it, while Sophie's solution is apprehending anyone who wants to brawl because she's convinced herself she knows better about what's good for them.

* MotiveDecay: By ''Legends'', she holds people hostage to draw Hanoj's attention, simply because he chose Everett and [=McQ=] over her to participate in the Battle Judgment rather than any of her Bakugan-rescuing routine, having become willing to endanger human lives to prove herself even if it doesn't help her cause and would literally lead to the end of the world.

* {{Foil}}: To Masato and Ichiro Kazami. All three have a history with Shun's position as heir to his father's company, with his father wanting to force him into the family business, Masato wanting to replace him, and [=McQ=] having beef with the Kazamis as a whole. While Shun's family mellowed out into becoming better people, [=McQ=] didn't cause trouble until the Kazamis ruined his business (made worse by the ban on Bakugan devices).

* ActionPet
* CatsAreMean

to:

* ActionPet
ActionPet: The only recurring animal brawler outside of Lightning.
* CatsAreMeanCatsAreMean: After getting her Bakugan, she quickly intimidates and humiliates the other stray animals (arguably as payback for them doing the same to her) before branding herself as their queen, then Haavik makes her callous enough to even mistreat her group of strays. After Lightning and the rest of the Awesome Brawlers free her from Haavik's control, she simply resorts to making fun of Lightning whenever they come at odds, as opposed to Lightning trying to smooth things out peacefully.
* CommonalityConnection: Attempts to convince Ferascal to sabotage Lightning's attempts at bringing more clients to his favorite restaurant, on the basis they're both cats and she could share sushi with her if Ferascal helps her with her favorite instead. Though Ferascal considers it, she remains loyal to Lightning, prompting a brawl between both brawling pets.
* {{Foil}}: To Magnus. As a stray cat, she was forced to live off the streets and picked up Bakugan brawling to become stronger, as well as using it to look after her own once she formed a small pack of cats and dogs. Unlike Magnus though, Bakugan brawling comes to her more naturally (not that Ryerazu talks to her either). Quite fittingly, her rival is none other than Lightning, Dan's (who's Magnus' rival) dog.
* HeroicCaninesVillainousFelines: The villainous feline to Lightning's heroic canine. Downplayed starting from ''Geogan Rising'', as she interests herself more in finding food, even through harmless performance, than causing trouble for others. Though she still likes to tease Lightning from times to times.
* InterspeciesRomance: Implied on her end. From the way he gets her flustered, she seems to harbor some feelings for him, even if she doesn't act on it.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Tsundere}}: She keeps rejecting Lightning's invitations to become friends purely out of pride, but also blushes several times while rebuffing him, showing she likes the idea regardless.

* TheShameless: Everett Ray, one of the Awesome Brawlers' most recurring foes. He's a sleazy YoungEntrepreneur who engages in everything from dirty business dealings, propaganda films that paint Bakugan in a negative light, and even sham contests and games that steal the Bakugan of those who enter, all with an unapologetically smug air. Even when the AB call him out on his reprehensible actions, he just lets it roll off his back, not caring one bit what they think of him.

* BerserkButton: Haavik really gets mad when people "ruin his fun". Which is to say, when anyone interrupts the chaos he's causing. Ironically, Dan doing that earns him Haavik's interest instead of any proper anger or resentment, being impressed that someone was actually able to annoy him.

* TheCorrupter: He's capable of bending even the Awesome Brawlers to his will by using what they want to do alongside their rivalries and beef with each other, with Dan barely evading it through his own goodwill, snapping out of his crazed state to save Lia when the latter nearly falls to her death.
* DisappointedInYou: [[spoiler: When Dan breaks free of his brainwashing thanks to Magnus' help, he laments that Dan's crazed actions were more like a joke than the big show he expected.]]

Whereas Dan's jokes and stunts tend to humor his friends and people on the Internet, Haavik's spectacles are only for his own enjoyment and disregard for people being hurt.
* {{Expy}}: Of Barodius of all people. While he isn't the emperor of anything, is a complete loony and doesn't even have a steady Bakugan before making Sabrus, his outfit resembles Barodius' with the purple motifs, and his true form is somewhat Gundalian-like. His ability to control minds is not only reminiscent of Kazarina's as well, but [[spoiler: just like Mag Mel, he's able to invade Dan's dreams to make him lose control, albeit he takes it a step further by enslaving Dan.]]

* DidntThinkThisThrough: What she doesn't realize is that Bakugan not only like fighting, fighting but also need to fight as well.to stay healthy. She seems to believe brawls are hurting them instead.
** She brought Bakugans and kids supporting her movement to a brawling park in Evolutions, trying to protest against brawling after feeding the Bakugans her version of how brawls with human partners work. She didn't realize that while the Bakugans would initially dislike the idea of having a Brawler, listening to the Elemental Bakugans would instead entice them into bonding with the aforementioned kids to have even more fun brawling together, essentially subverting the message she wanted to get across.

* InformedFlaw: As stated in her character bio, her whole "save-the-Bakugan" speech is supposed to be a front to make herself richer and more important. The show portrays it as a completely genuine, albeit delusional, desire to help the Bakugans to be "saved".

Added DiffLines:

* PsychopathicManchild: Not as bad as Haavik, but he's shown to naively buy into any new deal with seasonal antagonists so long it gets him cash, an occasion to humiliate Shun and his family, regardless of how likely the antagonists would be to grant his wishes (Wrath and Hanoj are notable examples, as the former promised he'd repay him with anything he'd like, and the latter said he'd spare him from Earth's destruction, in spite of neither one having any reason to keep their ends of the deal). On another note, he's shown to share Shun's love of cute things, buying a Tumpee keychain after loaning a dog, and using a Mobile Gate disguised as a dog toy.
** This comes full circle during Legends when the rivers of Vestroia end up turning him into an actual literal baby.

* PhantomThief: Brilliant Phantom thief, as far as he's concerned. With his snazzy dressing, preference for elaborate schemes, leaving a flower and his signature motif on any place he has robbed and grand thefts that he pulls off not simply for financial gain but because he views his thefts as art unto itself, he fits this trope to a tee.
