** According to Rod Reiss (in reference to the First King, a holder of the Progenitor), only the members of the Eldian Royal Family can use the power to its full extent. As shown later, even partial use of the power requires direct contact with a Royal and its extent is limited [[note]] For the record, Eren was able to manipulate Titans due to his physical contact with the Smiling Titan, the Mindless Titan form of Dina Fritz, a member of the royal family, and it extended to mere moments after when Eren was fleeing and directed the same Titans against Reiner and Bertolt; by the time came to deal with Rod Reiss' Titan form weeks after, the effect had worn away and Eren was unable to use the powers against it. It so happens that contact with this Titan was impossible at the time due to it spewing fire like a furnace, so even if Eren had been aware of the contact rule, he would have been unable anyway[[/note]].

Later Eren surmises that the only way he can get full access to the power is to consume a member of the Royal Family, but decides to keep this information for himself for fear of Historia's safety[[/note]].

* ArtEvolution: Its appearance has changed significantly since the beginning of the manga, going from a lean build much like the "Rogue" Titan to its better known, Linebacker-like HeroicBuild. The [[WatsonianVersusDoylist Watsonian]] explanation seems to be that [[spoiler: Reiner was a skinny youth at the time, who later developed a HeroicBuild and MorphicResonance reflected that]], while the [[WatsonianVersusDoylist Doylist]] take is this is a result of Isayama's increasing skill as an artist, as design sketches and the anime both use the heavier build.

* TheUnreveal: It's not known whether the Mindless Titans can be turned into normal humans once more without consuming one of the Nine Titan Powers... considering that there's only nine of those, that's not an option to solve the problem of the thousands, if not millions, of wandering mindless Titans.

* MorphicResonance: As a general rule, Titans will look like the humans that generated them. The "Dancing" Titan subverts this, looking nothing like [[spoiler: Ymir]] but in fact having some traits that clearly belonged to [[spoiler: Marcel, who she ate to gain such a Titan form]]. The one aversion is the Beast Titan, which looks absolutely nothing like its generator. The "Rogue" Titan both downplays it, because [[spoiler: its appearance is a mix of Eren's own and his father's Titan]]. Finally, as the series goes on, it's becoming clear that this works the ''opposite'' way too. [[spoiler: Bertholdt and Reiner, seen inside their Titans, have started taking on traits of those Titans, such as a plated jaw and brow for Reiner and the flesh tendons on the face for Bertholdt.]] Why this happens isn't clear.

* BadBoss: When a Titan fails to obey it, the Beast Titan casually crushes its skull as punishment. [[spoiler:This seems to only apply to mindless Titans. He's encouraging to Bertolt and Reiner when they reveal their fears that Annie is being tortured. He did, however, warn Reiner that if Reiner challenges him again and fails to beat him, he'll be fed to another Titan Shifter.]]

* TheStarscream: Supposedly joined forces with Helos to defeat King of Eldia and force the exodus to Paradis. [[spoiler: Subverted in that this turns out to be a ruse by King Fritz however. * TheWorfEffect: Zigzagged. It quickly establishes itself as a powerful and versatile opponent, but is quickly dispatched by Mikasa. This proves to be a short-lived victory, and even after Eren discovers its weakness....he's still left struggling against the War Hammer's power.

Titans that emerged from the Eldians, Ymir's People, that settled in Paradis Island and were confined within the Three Walls by the First King, or from the penitent Eldians sent by the Marleyans from the ghettos to endlessly hound their fellow Eldians as man-eating, mindless Titans. [[note]] After the loss of Annie Leonhart and [[spoiler:Bertholt Hoover]], the Female and [[spoiler:Colossal]] Titan Powers are considered by the Marleyans to be under the control of the Eldians in Paradis; in turn, the loss of [[spoiler:Ymir from the 104th]] resulted in the Kingdom of Marley's recovering the Jaws Titan Power. * DatedHistory: In-universe: Marley's history books state that the Eldian royal family in Paradis Island still has two Titan powers in their possession, by implication the Attack Titan believed to be one of them; however Eren Kruger, who was a previous holder of that Titan power, mentioned that his family were loyalists who choose to stay in the mainland and attempted to resist Marley, it is reasonable to say that both factions are not quite right over who has control over all the Titan powers.

* DoesNotKnowHisOwnStrength: Perhaps as a consequence of his rage, HealingFactor and inexperience, his punches tend to do as much damage to his own arms as they do to the poor schmuck on the receiving end.

* FeelNoPain: Subverted; Titan shifters ''do'' feel pain regardless of their ability to regenerate, but Eren fights so viciously and with such complete disregard for his own body that it's easy to get the impression he must not feel anything.

** Some facts about her life are later stated by [[spoiler:Willy Tybur, who reveals that the Three Walls of Utopia at Paradis Island are named after Ymir's three daughters, Maria, Rose and Sina. Willy also happens to be the only individual who retains ancestral memories of the Tybur heads of family, who held the War-Hammer Titan before him. The only blemish to his statements comes from the fact that he is making the proclamation at what would be an anti-Eldian rally where he declares open war to the Paradians]].

During the climax to the battle of Shiganshina, Armin is mortally wounded by the Colossal Titan after successfully acting as a distraction so Eren could sneak up from behind and rip Bertolt out of it. After a fair bit of debate between whether to revive Armin or Erwin (who was also fatally wounded) with the Titan-serum he brought, Levi gives the serum to Armin and has his mindless Titan eat Bertolt, transferring the power of the Colossal Titan to the people of Paradis and turning Armin into a Titan Shifter. From what has been seen so far, this Titan appears similar to Bertolt's, albeit with a much more gaunt body.
