Eobard Thawne implies that they only appear under certain circumstances and that just trying to alter time isn't enough to cause their presence but on the other hand makes a few comments that it was just chance that Barry ran into one and gained its attention.
* ChekhovsGunman: Initially appearing as a VillainOfTheWeek, they return in the Season 2 finale and prove instrumental in finally beating Zoom.
* ClockRoaches: Speedster messing with the timeline too much? These guys will take care of the anomaly.
* DraggedOffToHell: It's revealed this is basically what they do to their victims when they do it to Zoom after his defeat.
* TheDreaded: Even Eobard Thawne is scared witless of these guys. Seeing what they did to Zoom when they found him, it easy to see why.

* OutsideGenreFoe: A race of ghost-like, supernatural entities that exist in the time stream would fit more with a show like ''Series/DoctorWho'' than ''The Flash''.
* SuperSpeed: One of them can easily keep up with the Flash and even Eobard Thawne doesn't think he could shake them.
* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: They are dead ringers for the comics' Black Flash, the Grim Reaper of all speedsters. After what they did to Hunter Zolomon, they may even be the predecessors of Black Flash in this continuity.
* WeaksauceWeakness: Low-frequency sound is fatal to them, as the Time Wraith attacking Barry finds out.
