Added DiffLines:

* AdaptationalBackstoryChange: The original version of the bandits lacked a backstory, as they only wanted to steal Naofumi and Hickwaal's resources presumably out of their own selfishness. Contrast to the highwaymen here, they are given a backstory as desperate people who ran out of money and resources to provide for themselves, due to the corrupt Schnee Family and authoritarian laws taking away their needs to survive.
* AdaptationalDiversity: The bandits were a comprised of bearded-men that ranged from skinny and muscular in their confrontation with Naofumi. In ''FanFic/AmbitionOfTheRedPrincess'', the highwaymen have Ren, Nora, and Porter to be in the group dynamic of TwoGuysAndAGirl that stand out from one other, because of their appearance and behavior.
* AdaptationalHeroism: The bandits from ''Literature/TheRisingOfTheShieldHero'' existed as a group of bad guys interested on robbing Hickwaal and Naofumi for their resources. By this story here, the highwaymen are given sympathetic motives as the JustifiedCriminal with the upper society being unfair of their lives. Furthermore, their return in ''FanFic/AmbitionOfTheRedPrincess'' to assist Naofumi, Malty, and Oersted have themselves be their navigators to avoid the Three Heroes Church and save everyone in Balafon.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: The bandits were a group of smug criminals that enjoyed teasing Naofumi of exploiting every chance they could get to frame him as a criminals if they were ever to be thrown to the guards. When compared to the ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' characters in this fanfic, they are reasonable people that can engage in civil talk, despite being thieves intending to rob the main characters and Zylden's resources. Expanded even more, the highwaymen redeem themselves as soon as their issues are resolved, and later on in the story, they make a comeback to shelter Naofumi, Malty, and Oersted from the Three Heroes Church.
* AdaptationalSympathy: The highwaymen in here are given their sympathetic portrayal in the form of the JustifiedCriminal forced to rob others to sustain their needs to survive from the corrupt taxes of the law and the Schnee Family's bad working conditions. By comparison to the bandits of ''Literature/TheRisingOfTheShieldHero'', they are a group of bad guys that meet up with Naofumi and Hickwaal to rob them with a smug look to live their lives off of their riches.

Added DiffLines:

* AscendedExtra: After Naofumi defeats the bandits in ''Literature/TheRisingOfTheShieldHero'' and has them sold to the guards, they are never seen again. By ''FanFic/AmbitionOfTheRedPrincess'', the story having the bandits be replaced by desperate ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}'' characters needing resources to survive, they are given characterization as flawed people and make a return later in the story to help the main characters as navigators to battle the Three Heroes Church.

Added DiffLines:

* JustifiedCriminal: The highwaymen resorted to thievery to rob merchants as a desperate need to sustain their lives from all the corruption that have drained their money and resources of the heavy taxes imbued to their lives.

Added DiffLines:

* TeamMemberInTheAdaptation: Downplayed. * BenevolentMonsters: At first with her scary appearance, Bed-Chan can give off the impression as a HumanoidAbomination of a plant threatening to harm hikers near her way. Though terrifying to meet at first glance, being able to communicate and understand Bed-Chan's motives will only show her to be a passive monster seeking to live her life peacefully in the mountains, but is threatened by the presence of the Three Heroes Church.
* BornAsAnAdult: By the time of her birth, Bed-Chan has the capabilities of speaking understandable speeches of words to communicate with Naofumi and sense people that have a chance of threatening her life.
