* TheAce: much like the Shiratsuyu-Class of the Combined Fleet, the German destroyers have very high armor and health points and strong base stats in their entries in the stat sheet. They also have the highest level caps of any destroyer in the story thus introduced at 150.
* BadassBandolier: she carries a large bandolier of magazines for her HG-40 around her waist.
* BreakOutTheMuseumPiece: Lebe uses a modernized WWII-era MP-40 submachine gun with a 40-round magazine.
* GermanicEfficiency: reinforced in the passive ability "German Engineering" that all German ship girls share, which allows all of them to have their fatigue and insanity gain rates reduced by 50%.
* GratuitousGerman: averted, all foreign ship girls are fluent in their own native languages.
* NecessaryDrawback: besides their [[{{Trigger}} Triggers]], both Z-1 and Z-3 have a Cost rating of 3, as opposed to the usual 1 or 2 required by Japanese ship girls.
* PoirotSpeak: subverted, the German ship girls only use a few German words sprinkled in their English speech.
* {{Shoutout}}: her primary firearm is the HG-40, a modernized MP-40, and it's one to the DLC weapon of the same name seen in VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOps3.

When they're assigned to fight with the Combined Fleet once they arrive in Germany to assist them in their conflict against the NDP, all the German ship girls get to work and fight alongside Japanese and British ship girls alike.
* {{Trigger}}: all German ship girls have some kind of passive debuff, perhaps as a NecessaryDrawback to prevent them from being overly superior stats-wise. For Z-1, this comes in the form of taking double damage from airstrikes, a reference to the demise of her RealLife counterpart.

!Z-3 Max Schultz

* UnorthodoxReload: Max wears a special utility belt that has two forward magazine ejection ports so that when she requires a reload for her [=MP7-A2=] submachine guns, all she needs to do is throw the spent magazines out, fit the bottoms of the mag receivers against the ejection ports of her belt at her sides, and let her belt reload her guns for her so that the only manual part of her reloading would be to load the first bullet. Just so that she doesn't have to go through this trouble, Max will ''always'' shoot her guns in such a way that she will always have the last bullet in each gun remaining in the chambers so that she won't have to load their chambers manually.

!Johnston

The ship girl incarnation of the U.S.S. ''Johnston'', DD-557.

* AffectionateNickname: both New Jersey and Haida call Johnston "Johnny", which, so far, she seems to accept or at least tolerate.
* AnAxeToGrind: not just one, mind you. She's described when she arrives at MAPS to join the fleet to be wearing an entire collection of them, including war hatchets, tomahawks, ''and'' combat axes. She takes this UpToEleven because she wears sets of them around her thighs like bandoliers.
* BackToBackBadasses: with Haida, naturally. In chapter 313, in particular, they demonstrate this.
* BadassBandolier: not for bullets, but for ''tomahawks.''
* BadassNative: built with a much darker skin tone than the more fair-skinned Japanese or American ship girls, comparable to that of Musashi's, to reflect the Cherokee and Creek heritage of her wartime captain, Lt. Commander Ernest Edwin Evans. She also makes her appearance fully geared for war, and among her personal arsenal is a collection of not combat knives, but ''war hatchets and tomahawks.''
** to further reinforce her Native American identity, in chapter 335, when Johnston uses her black electricity, she utters, "Anagalisgv", [[BilingualBonus the Cherokee word for "lightning"]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}: at the end of chapter 266, the final segment depicts a short dialogue between two people, who are shortly joined by Eagle. Now that Haida and Johnston are introduced, those two people at the end of chapter 266 are none other than Haida and Johnston, judging by Haida's "eh" VerbalTic and Johnston's handling of a war hatchet.
* FriendlyEnemy: many of the Japanese warships Johnston faced during the Battle off Samar are indeed part of Damon's fleet, but the one who dares to approach her is none other than Kongou, who offers to show Johnston and Haida around the base. Funnily enough, Johnston doesn't recognize her when they meet in person, so Kongou has to remind her who she is (Kongou had shot Johnston with several shells but failed to sink her, because her armor-piercing shells, while they did cut Johnston's speed in half by passing through her engine room, failed to detonate on her armorless hull).
* GenderBlenderName: Johnston, and to an even greater extent, her nickname of Johnny. She doesn't seem to mind, though.
* MythologyGag: she first appeared over a year and a half prior to her introduction to this story in another Kantai Collection fanfic written by the same author, titled [[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11109362/11/One-Shot-Fleet "Firebirds 3".]]
* OddFriendship: with Haida, because they had been built and activated at the same time by Lukenstor. She denies seeing her as a friend, but she still hangs around her during the fleet's beach day.
* RedBaron: in-story: when she arrives, Murakumo reveals that Johnston's last stand in the war immortalized her even among them as a legendary destroyer who dared to do - and did - the impossible. This is a reference to the fact that Johnston's survivors witnessed several Japanese officers paying their respects to Johnston as she sank by saluting. Though, the sudden and unexpected introduction of Johnston to the fleet cause a fair bit of awkwardness, as the Japanese ship girls could never have predicted Johnston being reincarnated again as a ship girl like themselves.
* ShockAndAwe: Johnston demonstrates her elemental power, black lightning, in chapter 335 by executing two Abyssal cruisers by holding them by their necks and electrocuting them.
* {{Shoutout}}: her uniform is based on [[https://danbooru.donmai.us/posts/1680610?tags=uss_johnston_(dd-557) u-tan (timerush90)'s Johnston design.]]
* TheStoic: She hasn't cracked a single smile ever since joining the fleet, and she seems dead serious all the time. [[ThinkNothingOfIt She also shoots down the praise that Haida and New Jersey give]] regarding her legendary last stand at Samar during the war, saying that duty was and continues to be her primary motivation to fight. On top of this, when she gets accused of [[HumbleHero trying to be humble]], she shoots ''that'' down too, saying that humbleness has nothing to do with the willingness to serve her country.
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: in chapter 295, she reveals that her tomahawks are actually rigged as disguised improvised explosives, as she's seen throwing one at a helicopter that lodges itself into the cockpit window and then exploding it with a remote detonator.
** Johnston also shows that, in chapter 335, she can remotely detonate her IED combat axes and tomahawks without a remote detonator by simply sending a wireless signal to her blades from her main processing unit.
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: with an axe, in Johnston's case - in chapter 287, during the search and destroy ALMA training simulation, Johnston trades a kill with Mutsuki by hurling her tomahawk at her.
** during the fleet assault on the Little Rock Air Force Base, she throws an explosive tomahawk up at an enemy attack helicopter and blows it up.
** in chapter 313, Johnston throws ''two'' of them in complete opposite directions, at the same time, while she's taking shots from enemies from both sides to plant her two combat axes in them and blow them up, taking out a large number of enemies.
* WhatTheHellIsThatAccent: she speaks with a noticeable Cherokee Native American accent while her English is perfectly fluent, and Damon doesn't recognize it and is compelled to ask her what it is.

!Haida

The ship girl incarnation of the H.M.C.S. ''Haida'', G-63.

* AnArmAndALeg: in her scuffle with a Ru-Class battleship in chapter 336, the Ru-Class steals Haida's own combat axe and chops her left forearm off from halfway down the elbow.
* AnAxeToGrind: like Johnston, she also carries a war hatchet as part of her personal inventory to reflect her native attribute (she shares her name with a Native American tribe indigenous to the Pacific Northwest), though she only keeps one.
* AnIcePerson: in chapter 335, Haida reveals her proficiency with ice, as her war axe, fittingly named Black Ice, is able to generate black icicles on opponents upon impact.
** she herself can also directly manipulate black ice from her body, mainly through her hands, be it directly freezing someone or something or using water generate the ice.
* BackToBackBadasses: with Johnston, of course. In chapter 313, when Johnston gets launched into the third floor of a firehouse held by enemy mercs, Haida has herself launched too to join her American counterpart and friend and fights off enemies on one side of the hallway while Johnston fights off the other.
* BadassNative: subverted heavily; her appearance is that of a Caucasian teenager, but she does have a war hatchet as opposed to the military-standard combat knife as her bladed melee weapon.
* BladeOnAStick: what her single war hatchet can turn into if Haida extends its handle. She uses it in this mode as a war axe in chapter 335.
* BoomHeadshot: does this a few times to the Abyssals she fights in chapter 336, once with her black ice and another time with her Flak Cannon. She also pulls this off at a Ru-Class battleship, but unlike the previous two, the battleship doesn't die immediately from it.
* BringIt: gives her Abyssal opponents this in chapter 336 after taking a few hits and having to face another squadron of enemies.
* DefiantToTheEnd: is determined to be this when the Ru-Class approaches her to finish her off in chapter 336.

* FashionableAsymmetry: she wears a singular earring on her left earlobe, a {{Shoutout}} to the weapon keychains seen in [[VideoGame/RainbowSix Rainbow Six: Siege.]]

* HoistByHisOwnPetard: see AnArmAndALeg above, a Ru-Class that Haida fights in chapter 336 uses the destroyer's own combat axe against her when they get into a brief melee.

And to top it all off, the war hatchet that acts as her bladed melee weapon that she has sports the letters "BLACK ICE" along its blade, the name of the DLC pack that introduced the JTF-2 operators into the game.

* BigSisterWorship: she keeps her idolization of Warspite when they meet for the first time in chapter 300 and does her best to help Zara and Pola adjust to having Warspite as part of their fleet.
* {{Determinator}}: all Italian ship girls have an 8 in endurance, with varying degrees of high CDR and Will ratings.
* {{Fangirl}}: she even calls herself one in chapter 300 when she's able to meet Warspite and make her acquaintance.
* FragileSpeedster: a 9 in speed and starts with 60% agility and reflex, but a 5 in defense and destroyer-tier armor and health.
* GlassCannon: ties in with her FragileSpeedster stats, but if she can get into melee range of her enemies, she can swiftly dispatch of them with her Assassin's Blades, as she demonstrates in chapter 303.
* GratuitousItalian: averted, all foreign ship girls are fluent in their own native languages.
* HiddenWeapons: has hidden blades in her shoes, specifically the heels.
* PatrioticFervor: cemented as a passive ability that grants them considerable combat stats for fighting either on Italian soil or in Italian waters.
* PoirotSpeak: the Italian ship girls are by far the most frequent users of this, though Libeccio is perhaps the least egregious example amongst them.

!Camicia Nera

* BraidsOfAction: has two braids draped across both sides of her head, somewhat like laurels.
* CoolHat: has a black beret with an Italian eagle brooch on the front and a green horsetail.
* FemmeFatale: black military officer's uniform, cigarette, and attractive. It may be surprising to some at first glance that she is only a destroyer.
* MeaningfulName: her class, the Soldati-Class, are all named after different types of soldiers in the Italian armed forces. Camicia Nera's own name refers to the Blackshirts, a voluntary paramilitary force that supported and fought for Mussolini's Fascist government whose members famously wore black uniforms, hence their name, and Camicia Nera herself dons an all-black uniform - including a black beret, black boots, and black gloves.
* SmokingIsCool: likes and smokes cigarettes.

Italian destroyer as depicted in Victory Belles.

* FemmeFatale: the other end of the FemmeFatale spectrum from Camicia Nera, with an orange dress, aristocratic hairdo, and a cigarette holder. It may be surprising to some at first glance that she is only a destroyer.
* LadyOfWar: she looks like a high-class Italian lady and conducts herself as such.
* ShesGotLegs: her dress is divided at its right side, revealing a ''lot'' of her right thigh, further accentuating her image as a sultry high-class, perhaps aristocratic Italian lady.
* SmokingIsGlamorous: more so this than SmokingIsCool, just based off her clothes alone.

* BerserkButton: Arashio has always been portrayed as a somewhat more tragic but otherwise true-to-canon ship girl in the story (but again, like many other minor characters in the story, this may simply be because the narration hasn't been able to flesh out her character as much as others), but what Kasumi said in chapter 313 [[spoiler:clearly makes her pissed off enough to send her own ship sister flying through a couple of houses.]]

* BerserkButton: she ''hates'' being called "Nui-chan" or anything "Nui" related, because only Kagerou can call her that.

--> Kasumi: [[spoiler:We've lost more friends and comrades than you have friends, period! You think we need to care about you losing your husband?!"]]

* SeenItAll: this is part of her argument with the wife of the civilian man [[spoiler:whom Asashio shoots on accident in chapter 313]]. Kasumi argues with her that if she's trying to essentially guilt-trip them over her dying husband, it won't work, because Kasumi and her sisters have seen all that war has to offer and thus have lost more than the woman ever will.]]

* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: [[spoiler:in chapter 313, Arashio shatters her own personality by punching Kasumi through two houses and almost a third.
** ThePowerOfLove: but the debuffs she suffers because of this can be negated if she deploys with at least one ship sister into combat.

* WideEyesAShrunkenIrises: ties in with OhCrap, as the narration explicitly describes her reaction to [[spoiler:Arashio punching Kasumi]] in this manner.

* ArchnemesisDad: She views all the second-generation Shiratsuyu-class as abominations, but especially loathes her "daughter".
* BadassLongcoat: wears a Victorian-styled one over her standard uniform, which is implied to be the same as the second-generation Samidare's.

* MegatonPunch: an unusual case for this trope because this time, it's actually pretty serious: !Samidare at one point smashes her fists in a overhead hammerhead blow onto Shigure's head, and the force is so great that Shigure goes bouncing off the water and flying at least thirty feet into the air.

* MisplacedRetribution: For some reason, she considers murdering her daughter and "nieces", whose only crime seems to be existing, to be more important than finding and killing Sanford and the other SEAL Team Six members who actually put her through her ordeal.

* NiceHat: a tricorne hat reminiscent of eighteenth century hatwear.

* FragileSpeedster: a 9 in speed, but a 5 in defense and destroyer-tier armor and health.

* PreMortemOneLiner: also a Shout-out to Franchise/AssassinsCreeed: "Rest in peace, bitch."
