Prestige, legacy and pride. That is what makes a Ferrari, a brand with a pedigree and distinction.

It's ''the'' dream car a character in fiction can ever get. These pinnacle Italian prancing horses from Maranello and Modena race across big and small screens, and would be the cultural icon all over the world, best representing someone with wealth, style and elegance, usually seen in the hands of the prestigious, the rich and the selected few.

Characters take pride and joy driving one, whether one takes a Ferrari with a girlfriend on scenic roads with her hair flowing by the speed of the wind, or one just keeps its timeless masterpiece as its prized possession, stored in either a museum or garage and bring its admirers. Typically, characters would like their cars in either its traditional Rosso Corsa or Giallo Modena color.

These Ferraris in fiction makes one character who owns one think they are better than everyone else.

Distinguished with this car is its streaked side air intakes and rectangular taillights, which bears resemblance to the Testarossa.

Production ended in 1995, just to make way for the heavily revised Ferrari F355, with a smoother exterior body and uprated performance, as emphasized by the design. Its engine was increased to 3.5 litre, powering at 375 horsepower. Like the 348, the F355 was offered either as a berlinetta, a spider or a GTS targa-top. The Ferrari 458 Italia is a V8 powered mid-engined supercar first unveiled in 2009 as the successor to the [=F430=]. With its brand new design, it incorporated technologies developed from its UsefulNotes/FormulaOne cars. One notable distinction of the model is its 3 exhaust pipes, partly as a tribute/nod to the original [=F40=]. Alongside the California, it is one of the first Ferrari models to incorporate a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the first not to offer a manual transmission.

The 458 was replaced by the 488 GTB in 2015, which is essentially an overhauled turbocharged version of the 458. That being said, it was the first V-8 mid-engined Ferrari since the [=F40=] to come with a turbocharged engine. Its track-focused variant the 488 Pista (track in Italian) has modified mechanicals and exteriors, such as its signature front where air passes through the duct through the hood.

In 2019, the F8 Tributo succeeded the 488, utilizing the same engine as the 488 Pista. The F8 also uses the same body as the 488 albeit with minor exterior tweaks and its use of quad headlamps. The F8 would be discontinued in 2023 with no direct successor, marking the end of Ferrari's main mid-engine V8 line (Though the [=SF90=] Stradale continues, this is a higher end model with all wheel drive and a hybrid powertrain unlike their main V8 models). The V8 line would be indirectly succeeded by the 296, which is a hybrid with a turbocharged V6 rather than a V8.

The 458 and 488 made an impression in the motorsports world, such as competitions in Ferrari Challenge, IMSA, [=GT3=] and FIA WEC, with notable entrants like AF Corse and Risi Competizione saw lasting success, with numerous titles on their belt.

Succeeding the F355 comes a modern V8 midship released within the TurnOfTheMillennium.

The Ferrari 458 Italia 360 is a V8 powered two-seater mid-engined supercar sports car first unveiled produced in 2009 as 1999. Designed by Pininfarina, the successor 360 comes with a lightweight frame and fixed headlights, last seen from the 550 Maranello, F50 and the [=F512M=]. Its brand 3.6 L F131 V8 engine comes with a flat-plane crankshaft, and titanium connecting rods, producing 395 hp. The 360 was designated in three different body types; the 360 Modena, the 360 Spider and the special edition track-spec Challenge Stradale.

The 360 would stop production in 2004, when that same year announces the successor; the F430. Unveiled in the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the F430 is an updated, tweaked version of the 360, with improved aerodynamic efficiency and enhanced downforce. One of the notable differences is it uses the similar taillight designs from the Ferrari Enzo and its front bumper akin

The Ferrari 365 GTB/4 and GTS/4 is a two-seater sports tourer that was introduced at the 1968 Paris Auto Salon, intended to replace the 275 GTB/4.

It was originally named the 365, but due to media reports of Ferrari's recent 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Daytona on Februady 1967, it is unofficially referred to as the "[[FanNickname Daytona]]". The car comes in two different variants; the berlinetta coupe as the 365 GTB/4 which 1,284 units were produced and the open top spider as the 365 GTS/4, which only had 122 units.

Like the 275, the Daytona uses a Colombo V12 engine, bored-out to 4.4 L producing 347 hp and 413 Nm of maximum torque. With a top speed of 280 km/h (174 mph), it was considered to be one of the fastest cars of TheSixties, akin to compete with TheRival Lamborghini Miura. The bodyword was designed by Leonardo Fioravanti of Pininfarina, the same designer who previously did the Dino 246, reflecting its transition from traditional round designs to BreakingOldTrends of having a more contemporary, sharp-edged look. The Daytona is also one of the first Ferraris to ever use pop-up headlamps.

The Daytona stopped production in 1973 and was succeeded by the mid-engined 365 Berlinetta Boxer (BB). Though the Daytona name would later be used 40 years later for the limited edition Ferrari Daytona [=SP3=] in 2023, a modernized {{Retraux}} to the Le Mans winning 330 P4.

-->--'''Cameron Frye''', ''Film/FerrisBuellersDayOff''

The Ferrari 250 is a series of sports cars and grand tourers built by Ferrari from 1952 to 1964, considered the most successful line of the company's early history.

Throughout its production timeline, there have been numerous 250 variants, intended for both road use or sports car racing. All of them are characterized by their use of a 3.0 L Colombo V12 engine, named after its designer Gioacchino Colombo.

The car is also known for its role in unwittingly leading to the birth of one of Ferrari's rivals. A tractor manufacturer who bought a Ferrari 250 expressed his frustration about frequent clutch problems in it, and his dissatisfaction with Enzo Ferrari's response to his complaints was key to his decision to make his own cars. That tractor manufacturer was Ferruccio Lamborghini, who would go on found the Italian manufacturer of luxury sports cars that bears his name, even hiring ex-Ferrari engineers to design and develop them.

[[folder:Ferrari 308 GTB/GTS and later derivatives]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ferrari_308.jpg]]

->''"It's the very best example of a two-seater coupe that's both classy and aggressive. It's so close to perfect and has lasted so long it's now the shape of Ferrari itself, a design that could imprison creativity for years ahead."''
-->--'''Giorgette Giugiaro'''

The Ferrari 308 is a Pininfarina-designed V8 mid-engined two-seater sports car that was produced between 1975 to 1985, serving as the direct replacement to the Dino 246.

Like the Dino, there are two types of the 308; the berlinetta coupe as the 308 GTB and the targa top as the 308 GTS. The car is powered by an [=F106=] AB V8 engine, producing 252 hp, with its bodywork built by Carrozzeria Scaglietti. To comply with emission regulation when TheEighties began, Ferrari introduced a fuel injected-variant called the [=308 GTBi/GTSi=], though its power is dropped to 211 hp. Two years later, in 1982, Ferrari announced the 308 GTB/GTS Quattrovalvole, which indicated [[MeaningfulName the engine has four valves per cylinder]]. Its power was brought up back to 240 hp, restoring the performance lost from emission control.

Ferrari also launched the 2-litre 208 GTB/GTS, intended for the local Italian market, which is regarded to be the slowest Ferrari ever made to some. To compensate it, in 1982, a turbocharged variant was introduced as the 208 GTB/GTS. It was the very first ever Ferrari production car to be ever turbocharged.

An exotic homologation of the 308 was introduced in 1984, as the Ferrari 288 GTO, succeeding the 250 GTO. Following the success of turbocharging in UsefulNotes/FormulaOne, it has prompted Ferrari to build a 3-litre road car, following the 208 Turbo. Using the same engine as from the 308 GTB, the 288 GTO features IHI twin-turbochargers, an intercooler and a power producing 395 hp. With top speeds of 189 mph (304 km/h), the 288 GTO was one of the fastest street-legal production cars of that time.

In 1985, the 308 GTB/GTS was replaced by the 328 GTB/GTS, an updated version that was based on the said 308 chassis, with one of the differences is that it's uprated to a 3.2 L engine and like the 208, it was also offered a turbocharged variant.

->''"Actually, this is why it's called the F360, this model. You drive along and you go 'ffffffff' and you do a 360!"''
-->--'''Creator/JamesMay''', ''Series/TopGearUK''

Succeeding the F355 comes a modern V8 midship released within the TurnOfTheMillennium.

The Ferrari 360 is a two-seater mid-engined sports car first produced in 1999. Designed by Pininfarina, the 360 comes with a lightweight frame and fixed headlights, last seen from the 550 Maranello, F50 and the [=F512M=].

One of the notable differences is it uses the similar taillight designs from the Ferrari Enzo and its front bumper akin to the UsefulNotes/FormulaOne race cars of TheSixties. It's new 4.3 L F136 V8 now produces about 100 hp more than the 360. A powerful variant called the 430 Scuderia was unveiled by seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher 3 years later, serving as the 360 Challenge Stradale's direct successor.

Both have been part of Ferrari's one-make racing series called the Ferrari Challenge, where both the 360 Modena and F430 were used extensively for track-oriented comeptition racing.

The F430 stopped production on May 2009 before it was succeeded by the Ferrari 458 Italia.

-->--'''Jonny Lieberman''', ''[=MotorTrend=]''

-->--'''Gotham Sport Comment''', ''VideoGame/ProjectGothamRacing 3'' & ''4''

The [[DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment Ferrari Enzo or... Enzo Ferrari]] is a mid-engined sports car built from 2002-2004 and it's christened after the company's founder, Enzo Ferrari, serving as the successor of the Ferrari [=F50=].

This Italian exotic was designed by Japanese designer, Ken Okuyama, who was the head of Pininfarina at that time. The Enzo uses a 6.0L [=F140 B V12=] engine, boasting 650 horsepower. The Enzo is capable of reaching 360 km/h, making it the fastest Ferrari production car of that time. Being a limited-edition exotic, only 400 units were made throughout its 2 year run.

In 2005, Ferrari decided to use the Enzo in a small-scale program to get the most out of it for future car designs and racing programs. This is where the Enzo was made into a track-only car dubbed the Ferrari FXX. The FXX program continued until 2009, with it's newly improved FXX Evoluzione.

Seven time UsefulNotes/FormulaOne World Champion Michael Schumacher used to own both the Enzo and even the non-street legal FXX.

In 1987, to celebrate Ferrari's 40th [[MilestoneCelebration anniversary]], [[note]]Even though the company was founded in 1939[[/note]] they announced a very special "street-legal racing sports car"; The Ferrari [=F40=].

Designed by the late Nicola Materazzi (who also designed its predecessor, the 288 GTO), it was at its time the fastest, most powerful and the most expensive Ferrari for sale, with a six-figure price tag. The [=F40=] a fully recognizable as the last Ferrari car to be ever personally approved by Enzo Ferrari himself before his passing in 1988.

The body was entirely designed by Pininfarina with components and panels made from Kevlar, carbon fibre and aluminum, ensuring the car's body rigidity, minimal weight and aerodynamics. Under the hood comes 417-hp twin-turbocharged Tipo [=F120A=] V-8, capable of reaching nearly 200 mph, the first ever production car to ever do so. All of the [=F40s=] were only offered in one color, which would be in [[RedOnesGoFaster Rosso Corsa]].

While the [=F40=] seized production in 1992 with over 1,300 units produced, its racing program continued its way until 1996, with the [=F40=] LM saw competition in the IMSA, driven by former F1 driver Jean Alesi.

The [=F50=] is a mid-engine targa-top supercar introduced in 1995, intended to succeed the [=F40=] in time for Ferrari's [[MilestoneCelebration golden anniversary]].

The development of this car was an evolution of the 1989 Ferrari Mythos concept car. Unlike previous previous predecessors, the [=F50=] utilizes a naturally aspirated- Tipo [=F130B=] [=V12=] engine used in the 1990 Ferrari 641 UsefulNotes/FormulaOne car, powering up to 512 horsepower. This idea was brought up by Piero Ferrari (Enzo Ferrari's second son). The [=F50=] uses a 6-speed manual transmition, and with its tops speed of 325 km/h, it exceeded the performance of the [=F40=], which was their earlier magnum opus back in 1987.

Its racing derivative, the [=F50=] GT was intended to compete in the BPR Global GT Series in 1996, however the series was abruptly folded, resulting in Ferrari to abort the project.

Production only lasted for 2 years, with only 349 units produced.
