* ActionizedSequel: The action picks up quite a bit from its predecessor. The very first arc involves Kyoko receiving an anonymous note saying [[VideoGame/AbsoluteDespairGirls people close to many of the students have been kidnapped and are being held hostage in Towa City.]] She's quick to begin putting together a team.

** LoveableSexManiac: Richard, Oceanis

* OriginalCharacter: Quite a few of them, actually. They're almost all students or former students of Hope's Peak, the only exceptions being [[TheEveryman Naomi]] and [[LoveableSexManiac Richard.]] As for the ones who appear in the story, we have:

* JournalRoleplay: While it initially started as a Q/A blog, it's since evolved into a hybrid of this and a roleplay featuring the continuous adventures and exploits of the [[OriginalCharacters named anons]] alongside the canon characters.

* ShipperOnDeck: Many, many anons push many, many ships. And even Mod J himself seems to approve of a few, either between canon characters or between them and the OCs.

* FiveBadBand: All of The Remnants of Despair fall into the categories presented, although their numbers consist of more than five.
** TheBigBad: Junko, of course.
** TheDragon: Mukuro [[spoiler: up until the Hope Games, with Monaca playing the role afterwards.]]
** TheEvilGenius: 5 of them.

*** [[spoiler: Yasuke is revealed to be both [[FakingTheDead alive]] and one of the Remnants in The Truth Of A Girl, Part 2. He's obviously the best with neurology, that being his area of expertise. He's also not completely evil, only killing Ryoko [[MercyKill so that Junko won't do something worse.]] In "A Farewell To The Foundation", he actually rejects the remnants, choosing to forge his own, neutral path.]]
*** [[spoiler: Kazuichi is obviously the best with mechancics, having helped Monaca create the Monokumas. However, he's not truly evil either, [[RedemptionEqualsDeath killing himself so that Sonia and Gundam will hopefully survive.]]]]

* PosthumousCharacter: The victims of the Fall of Hope's Peak are still a major driving force for the survivors. Ryouko in particular gets mentioned a lot, especially when the topic of cloning is brought up. [[spoiler: Though this gets turned on its head when a few of them are revealed to have been brought back by the despairs.]]

* GirlOnGirlIsHot: During the truth or dare arc, an anon specifically requests the Miaya make out with Mikan to "give Kyoji sweet dreams." Leon also approves.

* GottaRescueThemAll: The blog is currently focused on the survivors taken in the Future Foundation and how they're trying to find the others.

* DeathByAdaptation: Maverick offhandedly mentions killing Haiji Towa,
