* Vlad in ''FanFic/ChessPiece'' did a DealWithTheDevil and got his dying son healthy, armored skin, magic and high heat tolerance (he can walk around in an active volcano!)-the downside? He can't swim, he's supersensitive to cold, [[WordOfGod demons will eventually try dragging him to hell]] (the operative word being ''try'') and he now looks like a demon for the rest of his life. He takes this all in stride, still being a WideEyedIdealist.

** Time players will gain the ability to use TimeTravel, which they must use [[SetRightWhatOnceWentWrong to prevent their session's doomed timelines]] - that is, timelines where one or more players die when they're not supposed to. That means seeing the deaths of their friends, and even themselves having travelled back from those doomed futures. Dave was shocked at seeing his own dead body having travelled back in time only to be killed (which warned Dave in the present not to do that), but due to the beta session lasting a shorter amount of time than it was supposed to, there were not nearly as many doomed timelines as the troll's session, judging by the many Aradias that were present by the end, plus all the different versions of the trolls seen in the dream bubbles.

** David Hockney sees his ability to see the near future simultaneously with the present as a curse because even though it's very useful, he thinks it's very important to live in the moment without knowledge of the future, and his art requires him to capture a single, frozen moment in his pictures. He once had a jarring experience in which he was trying to draw a smiling woman posing for him, but suddenly saw her dying at the next moment. Even though the woman was luring him into a deadly trap and he was saved by the vision, he said he would have preferred to experience the fake pleasant moment without distraction.

** How about the AWESOME power that Zoe gains when Torg gives her a magical necklace? The true power of suck just radiates out of that thing whenever the magic words are spoken by anyone who knows them and [[spoiler:turns her into a camel.]] She does finally get rid of it but at a horrific cost.

* ''Webcomic/TowerOfGod'' - 25th Baam's [[TheGift incredible talent]] with handling [[AppliedPhlebotinum Shinsoo]] and his lack of contractual fetters due to his status as an Irregular make him one of the potentially [[PowerCopying most powerful]] characters of the story, but exactly these qualities attract people who want to use him. [[spoiler: And they succeed by breaking his spirit and threatening to kill his friends.]]
* Elliot and Ellen of ''Webcomic/ElGoonishShive'' are developing magic powers. The downside is pretty severe PowerIncontinence, which is especially bad for Elliot, as he has to transform into a girl multiple times per day - a prospect he is ''not'' happy about. Said PowerIncontinence will eventually wear off, and there have been debates as to how bad they have it anyway, but WordOfGod states that the suck outweighs the blessing for now.

** Slightly more subtly, Gary, who starts the comic's run as [[NerdsAreVirgins a desperate virgin]], somehow gains the ability to attract large numbers of attractive women through a peculiar combination of {{adorkable}} charm, [[NiceGuy niceness]], and legendary oral sex technique. The women include a psychotic phallophobe, a {{narcissist}}ic {{transsexual}} lingerie model, a ruthless {{dominatrix}}, and the deranged [=DiDi=]. It's a shame that Gary never acquired any kind of assertiveness or judgement.

* ''Webcomic/GirlGenius'':
** The Spark itself. If you have it, you can warp the laws of physics with the contents of the average [[LockingMacGyverInTheStoreCupboard Store Cupboard]]. Bad part? ''[[WithGreatPowerComesGreatInsanity You go insane to varying degrees whenever you do it]]''. The natural result of that is that most Sparks, and Agatha in particular, have to deal with being shunned, used, or attacked by most everyone they meet. And that's if they don't get killed by one of their own creations. Or get the TorchesAndPitchforks treatment.
** Agatha before her breakthrough, when she wore the locket to suppress her Spark. It undoubtedly saved her life, but it also made her completely incompetent and destroyed her self-esteem.
** Moloch almost certainly considers himself to be. He makes the perfect minion. He's intelligent, knowledgeable, sneaky, good leadership skills,, good military discipline, very down to Earth, loyal, forgiving, willingness to take orders, and many other excellent traits. Despite all of this, he just wants to get the hell away from sparks and live a normal life. However, given the future windows we see, he doesn't leave Agatha anytime soon.
