The only things that prevent it from being a full DownerEnding are that Adrien, Nino, Chloé, Sabrina, and her parents finally know that Marinette was telling the truth about Lila all along and that Marinette's [[LoveEpiphany finally realized her feelings for Cat Noir]] (though she still doesn't know he's Adrien), but even that's heavily mitigated by the fact that [[spoiler:her aforementioned forced removal from the county means she won't be able to see him again]]. The cost is that Gabriel Agreste died in his son's arms, Marinette's relationship with Adrien, Alya, Nino, Nino, Chloe, and Luka have all been damaged possibly past the point of repair, resulting in her leaving Paris in shame, most of the Miraculous are still in the possession of Kaiser Long and Firebird, who remain at large planning who knows what, and the people of Paris' trust in heroes has been severely damaged]]. Even though Marinette has accomplished all the goals she set out for, she's left having lost everything she cared about. The bright side is that WordOfGod is that a sequel is in the works, so it's not ''the'' ending.

* ''Fanfic/CatsInTheCradle'': The fic examines how Makoto and Kyoko's relationship would have progressed [[ForWantOfANail if the killing game had never happened]]. By the time Kyoko realizes her feelings for Makoto, he has already fallen in love with Sayaka, and she only learns that they are in love by the time they are in a committed relationship. The two get married some time later, after Sayaka is forced to retire as an IdolSinger due to the public losing interest in her, but Kyoko stays friends with the couple.

* ''Fanfic/TheAlphabetStory'' ends with Elsa and Kyra breaking up. Their SecretRelationship is too much to handle and it's unfair to Kyra's [[TheBeard fiancé]] for Kyra to cheat on him with Elsa. The women have mostly stopped talking to each other and their conversations are awkward. However, Anna tells Elsa that if she loves Kyra then [[BreakUpMakeUpScenario she should try to be with her]]. The epilogue ends with [[MaybeEverAfter Elsa asking Kyra]] [[CallBack if she wants krumkake]].

* ''Fanfic/SomeThingsNeverChange'': More bitter than sweet, but "Finite" ends with Squidward visiting Squilliam’s grave and admitting to his late rival that the latter has [[TheBadGuyWins won their feud]], while also refusing to [[NeverSpeakIllOfTheDead mock him at his final resting place]], insisting that he's the "bigger man" for admitting defeat and for having a sense of accountability (which [[SmugSnake Squilliam]] never had). Squidward is fully aware that he has squandered his life and that there's nothing he can do to change that, but has also learned to move on and is avid about eating humble pie and trying to enjoy what time he has left.

* ''[[https://www.fanfiction.net/s/12930880/1/Lucy-s-Secret Lucy's Secret]]'': Luan and Lucy learn that their [[EmbarrassingDampSheets bedwetting]] problem can't be treated and they'll have to wear diapers at night until it goes away on its own (which may not be until they go to college), and it's left up in the air as to whether the twins, Lisa, and/or Lily will develop it later on, but Lucy is no longer ashamed of it.

** "The Clouds": Homeless bum Soapy finds his OneTrueLove and a HappyEnding, but Mittens don't fare so well. The tuxedo cat ends up without friends or lovers and wondering what Clouds, Love, and Life are all about.

* ''Fanfic/MasterThiefDragon'': More heavily on the bitter side. Tirek has been killed by a mysterious sniper and the people Spike cares for are safe. However, his identity as Dragon is revealed to the girls during the whole debacle and things are never the same after that; Twilight's relationship with her family and friends (''Especially'' Spike, Cadance, and Applejack) have becomed strained at best during the course of the story, greatly distancing herself from them, and transfers to Crystal Prep Academy, a rival school; The other Harmony Sweeties were more or less shaken up from the entire ordeal as well, especially Fluttershy and Applejack with the former now living with the fact the she killed someone and Spike willingly took the fall for her while the latter had her family's precious apple orchard nearly burned down and has come to realize the fact that the world isn't as black and white as she thought; Cadance, along with her infant daughter, has moved back with her aunts, selling the house she and Twilight lived in; Spike decides to quit being Dragon for a while and leaves Canterlot city, and who knows how long he'll be gone; and lastly, while it wasn't out right stated, there's some heavy implications that Tirek's death may have some [[EvilPowerVacuum unforeseen consequences]] for the city. The reason that this isn't a full on DownerEnding is that Spike will [[SequelHook one day return]] and [[RayOfHopeEnding make things right]].
