** ''Manga/UruseiYatsura'': Lum is devoted to her [[AccidentalProposal accidentally acquired fiancé]], Ataru Moroboshi, but Ataru can't give up on [[HaremSeeker his dream of having a harem full of beautiful women]]. Lum is repeatedly enraged by Ataru's refusing to give her any affection whilst showering unwanted attention on other women, responding with either wacky schemes to try and make Ataru be more faithful or admit he loves her or, when she's in a punishing mood, simply biting him or [[ShockAndAwe zapping him with lightningbolts]]. This just spurs on Ataru's resentment for her presence, and he becomes all the more stubborn about chasing other women... but, if his relationship with Lum is threatened, he will move heaven and earth to preserve it. It's repeatedly shown in stories like the Bureau of Destiny that Ataru ''does'' love Lum deep down, but he just can't bring himself to admit it because it means giving up on his perverted dreams.
** ''Manga/MaisonIkkoku'': Godai and Kyoko's tension stems from less slapstick and more realistic (Godai's terminal [[ExtremeDoormat wishy-washiness]] rendering him unable to tell Kyoko how he feels for much of the manga and Kyoko's lingering feelings for [[TheLostLenore her late husband]]). Unlike her other works to that point, [[spoiler: Godai and Kyoko end up definitively together in the end; HappilyMarried with a daughter.]]

*** Inuyasha and Kagome have a rocky start because Kagome is the {{reincarnation}} of Inuyasha's old lover Kikyo, who he initially believes to have betrayed him. To protect Kagome, Kaede forces Inuyasha to wear a magical, non-removable necklace that painfully forces Inuyasha to the ground whenever Kagome says "Sit, boy!". The initial animosity dies down when Inuyasha comes to see Kagome as a different person from Kikyo, but Kagome continues to activate the necklace often out of annoyance at Inuyasha's brutish behavior. There's also their frequent arguments over their jealousy of their other suitors, including a resurrected Kikyo.

** ''Manga/{{Mao}}'': Nanoka isn't as much of a {{Tsundere}} as most examples, but everything else fits with Mao being a clear JerkWithAHeartOfGold and the two of them having plenty of sexual tension.

** One of [[{{Manga/RumikoTakahashiAnthology}} Takahashi's short stories]], ''The Face Pack'' (from 1984[[note]]thus putting it past the halfway points of both ''Manga/UruseiYatsura'' and ''Manga/MaisonIkkoku'', and prior to the start of ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf''[[/note]]) is about a [[JapaneseSchoolClub school club]] dedicated to the art of disguise, and features as its main characters the club's president Soshiro and a girl named Meiko who is a member of the club. They have a JerkWithAHeartOfGold / {{Tsundere}} relationship dynamic that's similar to what [[Manga/RanmaOneHalf Ranma and Akane]] would later be famous for. They both have crushes on each other, but are [[TwiceShy too shy to say so]], and Meiko frequently gets annoyed at Soshiro's wacky antics. Said antics (which include riding around town on his bicycle while wearing [[MultilayerFacade a series of masks which he removes one by one]], e.g. an Franchise/{{Ultraman}} mask, a {{tanuki}} mask, a [[Film/Dracula1931 Dracula]] mask, [[Manga/UruseiYatsura the Mendō family's]] signature Hyottoko octopus mask, [[OverlyLongGag and several others]]) prompt her to punish him by various means, such as suddenly turning to face him while wearing a [[MenacingMask scary monster mask]] in order to give him a JumpScare, as well as the typical HyperspaceMallet. The club's founding president ([[spoiler:who also happens to be Soshiro's father]]) is upset that the current members of the club don't obey the club's rules that he originally put in place[[note]]which prohibit the use of disguises for personal profit as well as random disguises in public[[/note]], and so he engineers a series of events meant to punish the club members, [[spoiler:which (whether intentionally or otherwise) ultimately lead to Soshiro and Meiko [[AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther confessing their love for each other]] on the final page of the manga]].

* ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion'': {{Deconstructed|Trope}} with [[SociallyAwkwardHero Shinji Ikari]] [[HeroesWantRedheads and]] [[{{Tsundere}} Asuka Langley Soryu]]. They argue LikeAnOldMarriedCouple and there's undeniable attraction between them, but due to their personality problems and childhood traumas, neither can express their feelings in an open and healthy way. This feeds into their respective insecurities and self-loathing, driving them apart more and more as the series goes on.

* ''Literature/CopCraft'' has Tilarna and Kei Matoba. One of the leading characters is a HotBlooded, gung-ho {{Tsundere}} who embraces the KnightInShiningArmor trope (mixed with small hints of BloodKnight tendencies) while the other is a SeenItAll cop who also doubles as a KnightInSourArmor that regularly insults her. And they're partners. Naturally, this constantly leads to several instances where they butt heads with one another and several characters often remarking how the two of them behave like a couple, much to Tilarna's embarrassment and Kei's more tacit annoyance.

* ''Anime/CodeGeass'': Lelouch and Kallen have this going on. She's a {{Tsundere}} JerkWithAHeartOfGold, who's having issues connecting the [[MyHeroZero heroic Zero]] with his alter ego, the JerkWithAHeartOfGold Tsundere Lelouch. She also has the distinction of being the only woman Lelouch has ever attempted to seduce, even if--or because--he was lacking any sense of self-restraint at the time. She does eventually resolve the two after hearing Nunnally reminisce over their early days and Lelouch fully committing himself to the cause, but sadly he's forced to BreakHerHeartToSaveHer when the Black Knights turn on him with her in the crossfire. Ouch.

** [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Gajeel]] and [[{{Tsundere}} Levy]]. They have a ''very'' rocky start because Gajeel beat Levy half to death back when they were in rival guilds, but they become close as Gajeel does his best to redeem himself and Levy falls for his better side. By the end of the first series, they're the only confirmed OfficialCouple in the main cast.

** Louise and Saito. She's a {{Tsundere}} who uses a horsewhip, and he is a lecherous idiot and a bit of a YuriFan.

* ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' has Edward as the JerkWithAHeartOfGold and Winry as his {{Tsundere}}. There are tons of UnresolvedSexualTension moments between them--Edward subtly thinking Winry looks cute, Winry noticing that his shoulders look broader, Edward having to recite the periodic table after remembering the conversation between him and Hawkeye (where Riza suggested he loves Miss Rockbell), Winry wondering why she fell in love with "such a weirdo", and their reunion before the Promised Day, resulting in a flustered Ed and almost-topless Winry. Those are all no doubt proof of this trope. All thanks to puberty, folks! Now [[spoiler:OfficialCouple; they marry post story]].

* ''Manga/{{Gintama}}'': Whenever Kagura and Sougo cross paths, they will immediately be at each other's throats, which is quite uncharacteristic from a laid-back DeadpanSnarker like Sougo. However, it's hinted many times that, in reality, Sougo has a soft spot for Kagura because [[ILoveYouBecauseICantControlYou she's the only person who can actually challenge him]] and he ''does'' like competing with her. Kagura, for her part, is less enthusiastic about this situation but since Sougo knows just all too well how to press her buttons, she usually responds right back at his provocations.

* There is a lot of belligerent sexual tension between the two main characters in ''Anime/TheGirlWhoLeaptThroughTime''.

* ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'''s own Alucard and Integra have this in spades, especially in the manga. The latter, of course, is a {{Tsundere}}.

* ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'':
** BrilliantButLazy Shikamaru with {{Tsundere}} {{Warrior Prince}}ss Temari. The funny thing is that it's ''[[GenerationXerox genetic]]''--Shikamaru's own father Shikaku, who's every bit as lazy as his son, has this in ''spades'' with his nagging wife Yoshino. [[spoiler:Of course, in the epilogue, Shikamaru's married to Temari, with a lazy son to boot as well]].

* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann'': Describes well Kamina and Yoko's relation. The bickering, the insults, the beating, the denial, the {{accidental perver|t}}sion that leads to a beating; it's all there. They're also a rare example of this trope being PlayedForDrama and as much tragedy as it possibly can during the culmination where [[spoiler:Kamina dies shortly after their first kiss]].

* ''Literature/TrappedInADatingSimTheWorldOfOtomeGamesIsToughForMobs'': In the AlternateTimeline ''Marie Route'', Leon and Marie’s interactions are filled with this. What’s notable, is that even after the two get engaged as an OfficialCouple, the tension continues, with Leon remaining a LovingBully and Marie hitting back (physically or verbally). This doesn’t stop Marie from being a ViolentlyProtectiveGirlfriend.

* Kyohei and Sunako in ''Manga/TheWallflower''. In an eerily similar case to ''Manga/InuYasha'', they've had their moments, but they're not even a third of the way into the RomanceArc progression in the manga and the readers are already going, "[[EndingFatigue Let them progress! End!]] ''{{End|ingFatigue}}!''" at all the plot-stretching.

* ''Manga/{{Nisekoi}}'': Raku and Chitoge can't stop bickering no matter how obviously attracted they are to each other. There's an additional twist: [[TheBeard they have to pretend that they are dating]] to stop a violent gang war from occurring (ItMakesSenseInContext).

* ''MyGirlfriendGivesMeGoosebumps'': {{Invoked}}. Haruka doesn’t just want to be the person Kisaki loves the most, he also wants to be the one she hates the most, to amplify her {{yandere}} tendencies.

* In ''Manga/{{Berserk}}'', Guts is an [[RatedMForManly ultra-manly]], aloof and cocksure ByronicHero who has been RaisedByDudes. Casca is [[OneOfTheBoys the sole female in a group of mercenaries]] and a {{Tsundere}} ActionGirl to boot. Not to mention that both ''enjoy'' fighting. Unsurprisingly, most of their interactions are emotional and physical clashes with underlying attraction until they finally admit they're in love.

** ''Manga/RanmaOneHalf'': Akane Tendo and Ranma Saotome's first meeting goes horribly, with Akane first insulting Ranma for his SexShifter curse and then bludgeoning him unconscious with the dining room table when he mocks her figure in retaliation. Several chapters later, she's doing things like trying to fight off the school's best warrior to preserve Ranma's secret of being cursed, and [[PiggybackCute piggybacking Ranma home]] after a stealthy {{Pressure Point}}s attack leaves him temporarily incapable of walking. Throughout the canon, the two constantly bicker and argue, with Ranma teasing or flat-out mocking Akane and Akane responding by insulting and hitting Ranma. But they also get multiple moments where they save each other's lives, share subtle romantic moments, and are shown to be attracted to each other really... it's just [[CantSpitItOut neither is able to tell the other that they like them]].

* ''LightNovel/ExpectingToFallIntoRuinIAimToBecomeABlacksmith'': Kururi’s interactions with the {{Tsundere}} DefrostingIceQueen Eliza mostly consist of arguing at first, with some arguments Kururi wins being BreakTheHaughty moments for her. That is until he practices VoluntaryShapeshifting and overhears Eliza's CagedBirdMetaphor about all the expectations and loneliness forced on her. This prompts a letter exchange where he tells her one of his own secrets, and thus Kururi and Eliza start dating as the series' OfficialCouple.

** [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold Gajeel]] and [[{{Tsundere}} Levy]] as part of their ongoing ShipTease.

* Knuckles the Echidna (JerkWithAHeartOfGold) and Rouge the Bat ({{Tsundere}}) (a case of InterspeciesRomance) from ''Anime/SonicX''. Almost any scene where they're in the same place is full of sexual tension mixed with hostility and violence.

* ''Anime/WhisperOfTheHeart'': Shizuku and Seiji, with Shizuku being the {{Tsundere}} (dere dere) and Seiji being the JerkWithAHeartOfGold.

* ''Manga/TheCaseStudyOfVanitas'' has the JerkWithAHeartOfGold Vanitas claiming to be in love with the [[PlayingWithFire literally fiery]] {{Tsundere}} Jeanne. At first, Jeanne genuinely detests Vanitas because he loves to press her buttons, mainly through sexual coercion. However, despite hating it, Jeanne does find Vanitas' blood irresistibly delicious and every time she tries to drive him away, she becomes more attracted to him. Ironically, when Jeanne comes to accept her infatuation with Vanitas and decides to pursue him aggressively, it's Vanitas who gets flustered and freaked out as he doesn't know how to deal with her.

* Ayano and Kazuma from ''Literature/KazeNoStigma''. She's a full-blown {{Tsundere}} and he's a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who ''loves'' to tease her.
