** Subverted in the case of Chibitalia, Hungary, Austria and HRE. Austria's mansion ''is'' pretty big but the end of the Chibitalia strips suggests (if not outright states) that their spending wealth is very limited, which is remarked when [[spoiler: HRE leaves the mansion with other Germanic states.]]
** Played straight with the fancy palace where Austria and Hungary interact with UsefulNotes/MariaTheresa. ** For a request during the April Fool's 2011 event, Himaruya drew Hungary dressed in a [[KnightInShiningArmor prince-like outfit]] with Liechtenstein. She also had shades of this when she was younger before she discovered she was a woman. Her Halloween costume in the 2011 event was also a prince, her fancy outfit in the [[HighSchoolAU Gakuen]] games also qualifies as this, and her uniform which is much more masculine than Belarus and Ukraine's.
** Liechtenstein too, while in uniform, without the ribbon, although she's a little younger and cuter than the typical {{Bifauxnen}}.
* BigScrewedUpFamily: The Germanic brothers aren't exactly the happiest bunch.
* BloodKnight: Prussia was created to attack and enslave all the other characters here and that's all he lives for. Hungary shows signs of this when she's ''very'' peeved. Namely when she's out kicking Prussia's ass.
* BlueBlood: Austria's personality has elements of this, thanks to the Habsburgs. Liechtenstein too, in part due to being a Principality. Not to mention being ''named after'' her ruling dynasty.

** Hungary can easily be seen as one of the rare female examples. Cranked UpToEleven in the anime, which adds a BattleAura to her SlasherSmile and a ''truly'' scary delivery of the MadnessMantra below by Creator/MichikoNeya. Austria wisely decides to just let her be... and the scene soon changes to her [[CurbStompBattle punching and kicking the living crap]] [[OneManArmy out of a whole Prussian army]].

* NotBloodSiblings: Switzerland and Liechtenstein, along with a full bucket of RelationshipWritingFumble and ShipTease.
* NotLoveInterest: Switzerland and Liechtenstein are definitely the most important people in one another's lives; he dotes on her and she practically adores him and worships the ground he steps on ([[RelationshipWritingFumble even though their relationship gets pretty ambiguous sometimes]]).

* RapunzelHair: It often depends on the strip, but her hair sometimes is drawn to be past her waist and incredibly thick and wavy.

* SitcomArchnemesis: She gets riled up whenever Romania's around. As shown in the 2011 Bloodbath, wherein there's already a bad tension in the air when Romania appears before they engage in massive PassiveAggressiveKombat. HetaliaHetaween2013 meanwhile suggests that she also feels this way to a smaller degree whenever France, Spain and Prussia are around.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: Elisabeth, Elisaveta, Erzsébet, Elizabeth...?
* StayInTheKitchen: PlayingWithATrope. Aside from becoming tough out of necessity, upon realizing that she's female, Hungary seems fine slipping into a more "womanly" mold and becoming Austria's maid. On the other hand, it's shown over time that just because she's a woman [[TookALevelInBadass doesn't mean she's any less badass than the male Nations]]. It's no surprise that as an adult, she's both clearly feminine and one of the ''manlier'' characters in ''Hetalia.''

* WomenPreferStrongMen: Averted. Apparently, Austria didn't do quite a good job at besting her, but she fell in love with him anyway. While in the 2013 Halloween event, her conditions for Italy to [[ItMakesSenseInContext touch her chest]] were simply a height requirement...which he was too tall for.

* [[AloofBigBrother Aloof Big]] [[BigBrotherMentor Brother Mentor]]: Though he served as Italy's mentor and brother figure when Italy was a child, he was also very strict and cold.

* MysteriousPast: Usually with Hetalia you can pretty much read each character's life story from {{Wiki/Wikipedia}}. But this nation-tan character is more or less artifically created, as one cannot draw a clear line from TheTeutonicKnights to the kingdom of UsefulNotes/{{Prussia}}, let alone from there to UsefulNotes/EastGermany. Therefore much of his life is left for CanonFodder.

* TheTeutonicKnights: The fact that Prussia was formed from [[ChurchMilitant an armed wing of the Catholic Church]] tells you everything about him you need to know. Canonically he's both this and later Prussia.
