* Just the fact that a ''cartoon'' had a mature, unique orchestral soundtrack for '''every episode'''. Barely a bigger finger anywhere to stick to the AnimationAgeGhetto.
* The soundtrack to "The Cat and the Claw, Part II" was this in a big way for the late Harvey R. Cohen, who took pains to reprise Wayne Coster's themes from "Part I." Not as library music, either, but as [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4yXPI578Qd0 newly]] [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tw24mzmPvvY composed]] material, and they are made ''even more bad-ass.''

As the cartoon sought to emulate the dark, expressive tone of its wildly successful parent, Creator/TimBurton 's ''Franchise/{{Batman}}'' film franchise, the producers felt that an inventive, classically-steeped soundtrack would be vital to that end. Series co-creator Bruce Timm initially turned to the composer of those films, Creator/DannyElfman. Elfman declined the offer to score the series, though ultimately he did end up composing the iconic [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAG_7Ky4FY4 opening]] and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATjUgF4YAm0 ending]] themes as adaptations of his established Batman theme. He referred them instead to Shirley Walker, one of the first female composers in Hollywood, and certainly one of the most significant.

Don't say a track "deserves recognition"; just go straight to recognising it.

* Even the closing credits song deserves recognition: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vc5q0U3pERE I Never Even Told You]], sung by Tia Carrere. While it's hardly uncommon for films of this era (even animated films) to have pop songs playing over the credits, 'I Never Even Told You' is a wonderfully morose, sombre piece, mourning lost love and missed chances that can never be reclaimed.

It starts out soft, inviting with romantic harp cords before blasts of brass chime in to emphasize the botanical horrors her private garden world has to offer, doing a fantastic job musically encapsulating Poison Ivy's character: seductive yet deadly.
