* NightmareFuel it may be, but Aaravos' control of Callum is nothing short of awesome for his powers. Let's take into account that he is trapped in an inescapable prison, where no one has all the clues to, divided among the Great Dragons of each Primal Source. And yet, he has a brief glimpse at our heroes through Viren's old mirror and effortlessly takes over Callum and proceeds to give the heroes a BreakingSpeech, pointing out each of their flaws and having a laugh about it. Then he releases Callum, takes a seat, with a ProjectileKiss, he ''shatters the mirror.'' Say what you want about Aaravos, he is nothing to sneeze at when it comes to magic.

Added DiffLines:

* Throughout the episode, Callum [[DefiantCaptive shows no fear talking back to Finnegrin]] even as he's being tortured, and [[ShutUpHannibal quickly sees through his justifications for his wretched behaviour]] as excuses to indulge in his ControlFreak tendencies. Boy has developed some ''serious'' nerve over the years.
* Rayla managing to pick her shackles with a splinter from Deadwood, and immediately goes to attack the pirate captain...
** Which leads to a horrifying one from Finnegrin himself, who unveils a spell that ''freezes the blood of the target'', literally stopping Rayla's assault cold, and making it clear the chains are a formality. ''This'' is the real power he has over his ship and crew.

Added DiffLines:

* Speaking of Aunt, Amaya's rescue of Janai deserves mention, disguising herself as Miyana to get close to Karim without raising alarm. She then starts her assault from horseback with a shield throw and [[CurbStompBattle has him at swordpoint on the ground in under a minute]].
** When Kim'Dael attempts to hold Janai hostage, the queen and her fiance get one for how well they both keep their cool, calmly laying out how killing Janai will make Amaya kill Karim, leaving the failsafe on her collar to kill ''her''. The Bloodmoon Huntress is forced to release her hostage, and lay in wait for another day.
** Credit where it's due, Pharos managing to create an opening that he swiftly takes advantage of, letting him and Karim escape two of the greatest warriors on the show.
* Callum's BigDamnHeroes moment, breaking free of his chains and arriving just in time to save Rayla from a leviathan with a wind spell. When Finnegrin freezes him in place with the same spell he uses to keep his crew in line, Callum manages to achieve a state of calm [[EurekaMoment and connect with the Ocean Arcanum]], which he promptly uses to free himself. While most mages stick to one Arcanum or Dark Magic, Callum just connected to his second in the span of two years!
** This is followed by a [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech quick dressing down of Finnegrin]], using the very nature of the Ocean Arcanum (which the Tidebound Elf has an innate connection to) to underline how futile [[ControlFreak his desire for control]] really is. This, plus his usual insurance against any disobedience visibly shakes the pirate's cool demeanour.
** The fact that Callum had the foresight over the years to study ''all'' forms of magic over the years, and apparently has thorough knowledge on each one, which is how he was able to use an Ocean spell so quickly after connecting to the Arcanum. This includes Dark Magic, easily listing off the ingredients required for the Dragon killing spell in spite of his personal distaste for the art.
** The following scene makes it clear that Callum doesn't act solely because Soren asked him not to, and that with Finnegrin's leverage gone the heroes could feasibly fight their way out.
** While the act itself is clearly a deep source of shame for him, the fact that Callum can perfectly perform a spell he cast ''once'', ''two years ago'' is an impressive display of skill and memory.

Added DiffLines:

** For that matter, Soren deserves credit for getting though to the wood golem in the first place, just by using some well spoken words and [[{{Determinator}} refusing to stay down as he gets pummeled]]. He refuses to fight back and even signals for Callum not to intervene, showing his emotional intelligence is just as valuable as his physical prowess.
* The end of the episode reveals that while Nyx bargained for her freedom, she also [[BatmanGambit told Finngrin they were after treasure so he'd keep sailing towards the groups destination]], and was confident in everyone's ability to escape and defeat him. Underhanded as it was, she was right on both counts.

Added DiffLines:

* Zubeia (however briefly) overcoming the pain of the corruption and attempting to fly towards Zym.
* The mysterious Mushroom Mage managing to actually heal the corrupted wound, something that seemed impossible prior to this!
* Upon examining the amulet Akiyu gave him, Callum not only identifies it as a means to breathe underwater, but as an Ocean Mage ''replicates it'' for everyone else, letting several of them search for the prison instead of just one. Guy's only had the Ocean Arcanum for a few days and he's already showing what he can do with it.
* Claudia continues to show off how powerful she really is, working out a spell to let her search the seabed for Aaravos' prison in short order, which also has the benefit of giving her several CombatTentacles that she uses to match ''all three'' of the heroes at the same time. It's mainly through teamwork and a well timed distraction that they overcome her.
** On that note, Callum being smart enough to grab her potion during the battle before disposing of it, forcing her to retreat at risk of drowning.
* Rayla overcoming her fear of water [[BigDamnHeroes in time to save the boys from Claudia]], and with Ruunan's bow to boot. During the fight itself she also cuts one of Claudia's tentacles, which translates to a missing limb once she reverts to human form.

Added DiffLines:

* Miyana showing [[HyperCompetentSidekick her planning skills exceed Karims]], having exploited Janai's trust in her to successfully steal the Sunseed and arrived at his location with a small army in tow.

* Villainous example, but Claudia taking on a water dragon by using Dark Magic to turn it's own BreathWeapon [[HoistByTheirOwnPetard against it]], trapping it in a claw made of ice. If not for Terry convincing her otherwise, she could have easily killed it then and there, and in the aftermath she accurately notes it's now ''afraid'' of her, proven by it deciding to flee the second she releases it.
* Ezran and the others hatching a plan to steal from Finnegrin, the person who rules [[WretchedHive Scumport]] with an iron fist, with the object in question being in his personal office no less! Despite one or two close calls, the plan itself goes off without a hitch and at the end the young king and his companions have set sail with a chest of baby glow toads and Finnegin lagging behind.
** Special mention to Rayla for successfully managing to pickpocket an experienced criminal like Finnegan, and Ezran for using his crown as part of an ImprovisedZipline, especially given that earlier Finnegan had dismissed it as worthless.

to:

* We get out first proper glimpse of what Kim'dael can do, and she more than lives up to her reputation, easily slipping past most of the security around the Sunfire Elf camp and only being caught once she enters the building with the Sun Seed. Confronted with a large group of assorted human end elf guards, she grins, ingests a drop of blood, extends her WolverineClaws, and goes to town, displaying incredible speed, precision, and the ability to dissipate and reform her body at will. What follows [[CurbStompBattle is a scene out of a slasher film]], which she follows up against the second after slipping through the barred door as red mist.
** Then there's her fight with Janai, who despite lacking her usual AbsurdlySharpBlade, holds her own much better than the dozen guards the Bloodmoon Huntress just fought. [[LetsGetDangerous Then she decides to use her own abilities]], manifesting [[MagmanMan lava skin]] and lands more than a few good hits on the Moonshadow Elf while adapting well to her opponents ability to vanish at will. It's only thanks to a well timed distraction on Kim'dael's part that the fight ended in her loss.
** Janai deserves credit not just for her combat prowess, but intelligence, having managed to anticipate the intruder was after the Sun Seed, and hiding it in another location to ensure her opponent can't just kill her. In her confrontation with Kin'dael, she also correctly deduces that Karim sent her, if not why.
* ''Sea Legs'' pursuit of the ''Ruthless'' has several of these.
** Callum's first attempt to help has him cast a spell to give them constant guiding wind for a speed advantage. When ''Sea Legs'' continues to catch up anyway, he casts what seems to be one of his most draining spells that ''takes away the wind'' by ''inhaling it!''
** They decide to try and lose Finnegrin in a series of jagged rocks, and Villads ''really'' gets to show his sailing chops, commanding the crew and steering the ship to avoid the many, many, ''many'' hazards by a hairs breadth, only needing bearings and obstacles from Berto as assistance. Blind he may be, the man is an absolute ''master'' as a captain!
** Throughout all of the above, ''Sea Legs'' shows its reputation as the fastest ship in Scumport is well earned, continuing to gain on the heroes despite everything they try, be it fog, magic, or rocks. When it looks like it's hit a dead end, Finnegrin gives a command and the thing ''sprouts legs'', revealing it is actually a giant sea crab, before easily catching up to the ''Ruthless'' and driving it to rocks in the process. Little wonder Finnegrin has such a reputation if he can command such a beast.
* It's shortly followed by a Tearjerker, but Amaya and Corvus manage to return to the camp, safe and sound. Given that Corvus still appears injured, this implies Amaya managed to support him walking almost the entire distance back (which is usually done with mounts), and fend off the corrupted monsters at night without either of them receiving a single injury!

* 'Tidal Tilly' easily managing to manipulate the group into quite literally walking into the belly of a beast, with only Soren noticing in time to avoid that fate.
** That said, thanks to Zym it takes them less than a minute to escape.
* The fact that a ''human'' Mage was the one to construct Aaravos' prison, with the implication that even the Archdragons and Elven Mages didn't dispute her ability to do so. The Jailer was also savvy to Aaravos' skill at [[ManipulativeBastard manipulation]], and so had each part of the prison constructed by a different person to ensure that even if he ''did'' sway one of the people involved, it wouldn't be enough to get him out. As she said to Archmage Akiyu, "the puzzle ''is'' the prison".
* Small, but Callum mentions that he's read up on ''all'' the Arcanum over the past two years, and feels he is closest to the Ocean. Guy has not been idle in his studies as a Mage.
* Kim'Dael's introductory scene under a red moon, casually intimidating Pharos with expert use of [[StealthHiBye stealth to keep popping up behind him]], and pinning him against a pillar while she holds a talon straight up to his eye. The Blood Moon Huntress has appeared, and is every bit as intimidating as Karim made her out to be.

* Just before a corrupted Banther is about to pounce on Rayla, Callum intercepts the beast mid air with an electric punch. Why is this awesome? Because for years Callum had bemoaned that he was bad at everything, and he was ruthlessly mocked for being weak and incapable of fighting. Now the shoe is on the other foot, and damn is it awesome.

* After much research, Kazi manages to find what can kill a Startouch Elf: a weapon called the Novablade! Callum later mentions that they even have a location for it as well, giving the heroes a solid next step in their plan.
* After Rayla [[InternalReveal informs Callum of what Viren did to Runaan and her parents]], he recalls seen a spell for this exact situation, and before they leave manages to get the information he needs. That's right, in less than a few hours Callum managed to come up with a solution to Rayla's biggest dilemma, and to make things better, informs her that one of the key components for the spell is in the same place as the Novblade, letting them kill two birds with one stone! [[NiceJobBreakingItHero Unfortunately, it's also what causes them to still be there when the sun goes down and the monsters come out]].
* The battle at the Great Bookery has several of these for the heroes.
** Withing the first few seconds of the fight Amaya pulls off an impressive kill on one of the corrupted Banthers, [[ThrowingYourShieldAlwaysWorks disorienting it with a shield throw to the face (which she then catches)]], then sliding under it and slicing it's belly open with the sword Janai gave her.
** Rayla continues to make great use of Runaan's bow despite the short amount of time she's wielded it.
