* For most of the game, Selmers offers to recite short, simple, poems to you, mainly of the RhymesOnADime variety. So when you go to the library with Bea, it's quite a surprise to see her with the Possum Springs Poetry Society, where she recites a much longer, very well-written and thought-provoking poem.

* Gregg shooting the "ghost" with his crossbow. Not only is it a moment that snaps Mae out of her suicidal stupor, but it's a BigDamnHeroes moment where the gang establishes themselves as Mae's TrueCompanions. They were ''not'' letting her go into that mine alone, come Hell or high water.

* During the high school reunion, Mae recounts that her father, Stan, used to be a violent drunk. Great emphasis must be placed on "''used to be''," however. If his [[GoodParents behavior]] in the present day is any indication, he deserves heavy praise for turning his life around, thereby saving him and his family much grief.

** Even powerless Mae gets a Moment of Awesome too. While her friends and Eide are in a tug-of-war over her, she can use her free foot to kick the cultist in the face in her attempt to slow him down and prevent him from dragging her further down. As her friend and Angus pull the lever, and the elevator is dropping down on Eide, she gives him one more kick in the hood, removing it and revealing a silhouette of his true face before the elevator decapitates him. What a smart move.
