* There's just something remarkably awesome about Coraline packing up a bunch of everyday items as her LockAndLoad montage. The music helps it along--you just know in that moment that this girl is something else.
* After Coraline has [[spoiler:escaped the Other Mother's metal spider web and climbed through the little door into the hallway, the Other Mother pries the door open and hisses]] - and Coraline ''[[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu kicks her in the face]]''.
* Wybie gets his own moment in the sun. After the Other Wybie heroically [[spoiler:rescues Coraline, knowing how the Other Mother would punish his betrayal]], the real Wybie calls Coraline crazy before getting chased away - Not particularly auspicious. But then at the end, when Coraline is being dragged by the Other Mother's [[spoiler:disembodied hand]], he comes riding down out of the dark to [[spoiler:grab the hand, fall into the well, then climb back out in time to smash the thing to smithereens]]. And then he apologizes for insulting her and calls her "Coraline" - The first time anyone in the Pink Palace has gotten her name right.

* The movie's mere existence is a huge CMOA to the world of stop-motion, 3D and animations in general. It ''utterly annihilates'' almost every single limitations of stop-motion.

* A special moment that was left out of the film: Rather than being a [[WhatAnIdiot complete moron]] and walking out of the house ''without any idea how to stop the Other Mother's hand that was out to get her'', the Coraline of the novel cleverly sets up her picnic blanket on top of the garden [[ChekhovsGun well]] and lets the Other Mother's hand fall in. Unlike the Coraline of the film who conquered so much [[DamselInDistress only to be saved by some other character]], the novel counterpart is ''[[GuileHero smart]]''. For this troper, that made her vastly superior as a protagonist.
** Ummm, Film!Coraline did not know Other Mother's hand was chasing her, she only knew that she had to hide the key. Not preparing for something you don't know about and have no reason to suspect is not a flaw.
*** Original poster here. Apologies. I'd forgotten that change. Still, this does not diminish Book!Coraline's moment of [[AwesomeMoments awesome]] and [[GuileHero cleverness]] in utilizing a ChekhovsGun.
