It's their own hesitation to finish off their infected teammates that leads to JJ being bitten too. so Not only is he blaming the wrong people, but he is also resentful of having to carry out an order that was clearly necessary and in his best interest in that moment.]]

* DesignatedGirlFight: Averted. Maria holds Leon responsible for her father's death and targets him specifically multiple times, eventually forcing him into a DuelToTheDeath.

* TheProtagonist: Fittingly for a mainstay character who’s been out of action every since Resident Evil 5 and is [[TheBusCameBack making her return into action]], Jill Valentine is the character who gets the most focus and screen time out of any character in the movie.

* BreakThemByTalking: Dylan tries to pull this on all the protagonists (except Rebecca), [[CallBack using various failures from each of their past games/movies]] in order to get through why they're all evil in his eyes; bringing up[[VideoGame/ResidentEvil6 Chris and his inability to keep his teammates alive]], [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil4 Leon being]] [[Anime/ResidentEvilDamnation a dog of the government]], [[VideoGame/ResidentEvilRevelations2 Claire and Terra Save's fall from grace]], and [[VideoGame/ResidentEvil5 Jill, being brainwashed and forced to try and kill her friends]]. It doesn't really work.

* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: [[spoiler:Dr. Antonio Taylor, who starts off as a heel, then escapes Dylan and is unknowingly rescued by the heroes, who he proceeds to insult. He then apologizes to Claire for being rude after she saves his life... then he switches back to demanding Jill shoot her after she is infected and they're locked in a cell together. Finally, he gets a HeelFaceDoorSlam after Dylan shoots him and he suddenly apologizes sincerely to Claire for being rude, says he wishes he'd met her earlier, gives her the ChekovsGun she needs to stop Dylan and promptly dies.]]

* Deuteragonist: Leon's the secondary protagonist this time around, as his mission to rescue Antonio Taylor aligns with Jill, Chris, and Claire's investigation to Alcatraz. He even has a BackToBackBadasses moments with Jill, and gets a personal fight scene with [[spoiler:Maria]].

* BackToBackBadasses: Jill and Leon end up doing this.

It is set be released on in Japanese theaters on July 7th, 2023, with a DirectToVideo release on the US on July 25.

* BottomlessMagazines: Both played straight and averted. Played straight during Leon and Jill's section of the movie, where they shoot an endless stream of handgun bullets at a swarm of Lickers (even more egregious when you consider that Leon loaned Jill an extra handgun and no extra magazines). Averted at the end of the movie, ironically enough [[spoiler:while they're in an Armory and thus have access to a ton of weapons. Mutated Dylan is so tanky that if not for Rebecca's intervention, they actually ran out of almost all their available weapons.]]

* UncannyValley: Some of the CGI can evoke this, as characters' faces sometimes look plastic and unemotional (and they don't blink), and their body movements look awkward and robotic.

* ADayInTheLimelight: While this movie has multiple main characters, it primarily focuses on Jill Valentine who’s been chronologically out of action since Resident Evil 5, [[TheBusCameBack showcasing her return into action.]]

Death Island has at tie-in manga known as ''BIOHAZARD: DEATH ISLAND''.

** The OP sequence shows government-issued used by the protagonists. For Jill and Rebecca, their RPD STARS ID card. For Chris, his BSAA ID card. For Leon, his DSO ID card. For Claire, it showed her [[Anime/ResidentEvilInfiniteDarkness Penamstan observer card]].

* NoodleIncident: Despite this being the first time Leon and Jill have ever interacted onscreen, the exchange between the two when they recognize each other indicates that not only have they met before, but they're evidently familiar enough to have built up a friendly rapport. The same with Jill and Rebecca with Claire.

Death Isaland has at tie-in manga known as ''BIOHAZARD: DEATH ISLAND''.

* AxCrazy: Dylan Blake is this from the outset, as we see in his backstory where he [[spoiler:was one of the first responders in Raccoon City. His team is promptly almost entirely taken out by the zombies except for himself and one other man, JJ, and HQ orders that the infected members be shot. Dylan promptly starts attacking JJ and screaming about how they can't do this and they'll regret it, even while his ''very clearly undead'' teammates are struggling to get at them through a glass window. Finally JJ knocks him away and starts firing, while Dylan collapses on the floor with his eyes screwed shut and his hands clamped over his ears while he ''shrieks'' for him to stop. During the skirmish, JJ is bitten on the neck by one of the zombies but manages to kill the rest, after Dylan suddenly sits up looking completely calm and radios to HQ saying that they were the only survivors, but that JJ was bitten. HQ repeats that all infected must be put down, so after a brief scuffle with the gun (during which Dylan is shot repeatedly in the leg) Dylan [[https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/residentevil/images/e/e3/DeathIslandUBCSDylan.jpg calmly prepares to shoot JJ, even as he begs him for help]]. The gun is now empty, however, so Dylan proceeds to grab a heavy object and bludgeon JJ's head into paste all with that same eerie blank look on his face.]]
