* {{Foreshadowing}}: There are a few pieces of foreshadowing to the TheReveal that [[spoiler: David setup the entire villain attack]]:

** [[spoiler:David and Sam were behind the attack in order to steal a device they created. Another one immediately follows: Wolfram and his gang are not actors or small time criminals, they're real mercenaries and ArmsDealers who have no intention of letting the two scientists take a device that could go for billions on the black market]].

* SurprisinglyRealisticOutcome:
** [[spoiler:No group of small time criminals or actors are going to accept a job pretending to be villains breaking into the second most heavily secured installation in the entire world even with the help of someone who can control the security system. They quite predictably turn out to be a group of immoral mercenaries looking to turn the job into a much bigger score]].
** David's [[spoiler:Quirk enhancing device]] is quickly shut down by the governments of the world after he reveals it to them. Such a device would create more risk then good, and if it fell into the hands of villains, it would be a disaster. [[spoiler:In the end, the latter are proven completely right.]]
** A positive example for the heroes. Bakugo's Quirk means his sweat is nearly pure nitroglycerine and thus highly flammable, which means that when one of the EliteMooks gets some of his sweat on him, Todoroki is able to defeat him by using his fire side to nearly blow him up.
** As pointed out by Wolfram, [[spoiler:because the entire plan was David's idea no matter his intentions, he still planned, instigated and took part in a crime that resulted in likely millions of lives threatened, meaning that his career and reputation were officially dead the moment things kicked off.]]

* NonSerialMovie: Averted; [[Creator/KoheiHorikoshi Horikoshi]] had a lot of input in the movie, and it's placed at an explicit point in the canon story. The manga also had a special tie in comic showing when [[spoiler: All Might lost his master and when he met Melissa]] and the anime adds an extra episode to set up the trip. The movie itself also doesn't contradict any of the plot elements from the main story, and the main story itself makes efforts to make [[ContinuityNod nods]] to the movie, [[spoiler:such as Midoriya using variants of the Full Gauntlet while acting as a Vigilante, the American hero Star and Stripe being the adult version of one of the girls All Might saved during his debut with said moment inspiring her, and Endeavor's second hero costume explicitly confirmed to be the work of Melissa.]]

* NonSerialMovie: Seemingly averted; [[Creator/KoheiHorikoshi Horikoshi]] had a lot of input in the movie, and it's placed at an explicit point in the canon story. The manga also had a special tie in comic showing when [[spoiler: All Might lost his master and when he met Melissa]] and the anime adds an extra episode to set up the trip. The movie itself also doesn't contradict any of the plot elements from the main story, although some FridgeLogic does pop up.
** The events of the movie have not been referenced in the manga so far either. This is especially notable during the ''Taratarus Escapees'' arc when [[spoiler:the entire class 1-A students come to help Midoriya who has dropped out of UA, Jiro and Yaoyorozu are treated as Midoriya's FriendsWhoNeverHang with Jiro referencing her brief interaction with Midoriya in the Cultural festival arc, where Midoriya gave her tips about how to maintain important notes, despite the fact that both her and Yaoyorozu work with Midoriya as a team in this movie and later Jiro also works with Midoriya and Uraraka in ''Heroes Rising'' (both events had them having encounters where Midoriya's HeroicSpirit could be counted as inspiring for his friends including the two, which they could've referenced). The same arc reveals All might got some mid-gauntlets for Deku from America, which function like the support item Melissa built for Midoriya that he uses here and gets destroyed in the end of the movie, which may be a tangential reference to this movie, however]].

** Midoriya gets the Full Gauntlet, a support item which allows him to perform 100% Smashes with no consequence provided that he's careful with it. It's pretty obvious that he won't get to keep it, considering how it nullifies his biggest weakness (not to mention [[ForegoneConclusion the movie is set between seasons 2 and 3, and he doesn't have it during season 3]]). At the movie's climax, [[spoiler:Deku fires off the Double Detroit Smash with All Might, which is so powerful it completely disintegrates the Full Gauntlet, and Melissa doesn't make a new one]]. He wouldn't get a permanent but inferior option officially until Season 4, provided by Mei Hatsume.

** Bakugo was invited for winning the Sports Festival, and Kirishima joins him as a plus one.

* HotScientist: Melissa definitely qualifies with the reactions she gets out of Midoriya, Kaminari and Mineta. [[{{Hunk}} Her dad was one too in his younger years]] as All Might's sidekick while he was studying in America.
