** ''Sunshine!!'' gives the rival group a lot more development than ''School Idol Project'' did. Saint Snow not only gets three insert songs, but Leah even gets a [[ADayInTheLimelight shared episode]] with Ruby in Season 2, the duo get two dedicated episodes total, and [[spoiler:they team up with Aqours in Season 2 Episode 9 to perform "Awaken the Power" as Saint Aqours Snow.]]
** In real life, Saint Snow is generally treated as an extra unit under Project Sunshine. They have two shared singles with Aqours as "Saint Aqours Snow", their own calls and responses, and even perform in-concert with the main cast.[[note]]Hakodate Unit Carnival, a special guest in 3rd and 4th Live, and a main cast for 5th Live and Love Live Fest[[/note]]
** Saint Snow has their own single with an animated PV and a live concert based on said single.

* DefrostingIceQueen: [[spoiler:Ruby helps Leah break out of her shell by relating to her feelings and experiences through their older sisters, Dia and Sarah.]]

* FriendlyRivalry: Once Aqours and Saint Snow get to know each other a little better, their relationship develops into this, with Chika seeking advice from Saint Snow every once in a while. [[spoiler:When Saint Snow has an accident on stage and is forced to retire from Love Live, they drop the "rivalry" bit and start supporting Aqours full-time.]]

* GratuitousEnglish: Mari does this a lot as a VerbalTic. If ''Over the Rainbow'' is anything to go by, she gets it from her mother (who is essentially Mari turned UpToEleven).

* IconicOutfit: The "Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteru Kai?" costume seems to be the iconic costume for the group since it has been used for {{Crossover}} collaborations with [[Anime/ShoujoKagekiRevueStarlight the 99th Class of Seisho Music Academy]], and Music/HatsuneMiku and her fellow Music/{{Vocaloid}} friends Kagamine Rin, Megurine Luka and MEIKO wearing their own versions of it.

* AbsenteeActor: On various occasions, several members of Aqours have had to sit out on various scheduled appearances with the rest of the group, but the most jarring example was Arisa Komiya's temporary ban on attending international events due to allergy concerns. * NotSoDifferent: Ruby's character arc in Season 2 involves her and Leah Kazuno realizing that they're actually quite similar to each other; namely, [[spoiler:both of them realizing that much of their lives revolve around their older sisters and that they're worried about what they'll do when their sisters can't be there for them anymore. Subsequently, their shared arc involves the both of them trying to step out of their older sisters' shadows and become independent.]]

* YouAreFat: PlayedForLaughs as part of a BaitAndSwitch in Season 2 Episode 9. The episode and the episode before it went whole hog on demonstrating Hanamaru's BigEater tendencies... but when the aforementioned gag came into play, [[spoiler:it was ''Yoshiko'' who was accused of being heavier than the others ([[HollywoodPudgy despite having nearly the same body type as everyone else]]), due to her and Leah's combined weight being heavier than Hanamaru and Ruby's.]]

*** Nanaka Suwa's musical style in her solo career falls into the cute fluffy Jpop category, and Kanan's "Motto ne!" is exactly that type of music.
