** For starters, Vegeta is dead while Goku is alive, so this movie would have to be set during the midway part of the Majin Buu saga. During this period Super Buu was still rampaging about and no-one had any real time on their hands.
** Despite supposedly happening in that period, Goku is still fighting in the Other World Tournament against Pikkon.

* NonSerialMovie: Like most of the other films. While the lack of Ultimate Gohan, Vegeta and Goku still being dead, but the presence of Gotenks would seem to indicate that this movie takes place 2 days before Gohan had his potential unlocked and became Ultimate Gohan, the main problem is the complete absence of Buu, but the presence of the Kamikaze Ghost Attack.

** It's the case in his second form as well. He is at least moderately more powerful than Goku in terms of pure durability and energy output, shrugging off several hits from Goku with just some pain, while Goku is practically crippled by the first two hits Janemba lands (a small HandBlast followed by a quick [[BreathAttack Mouth Blast]]). However, he has no hand-to-hand combat skills at all. Goku actually holds his own pretty well despite the difference in power, at least until Janemba resorts to [[AttackDeflector his]] [[TeleportSpam weirder]] [[MatterReplication abilities]].

** Gogeta, being able to make quick work of Janemba and create stardust energy strong enough to tear apart his evil, takes this trope UpToEleven. As a specific example, Gogeta is able to attack Janemba with such speed and force that neither the audience or the villain can keep up. One minute, the fusion warrior is a great distance away and the next Janemba is being pummeled by blows while it ''looks'' like Gogeta is still approaching.

** Super Janemba takes down SS2 Vegeta with one hit. Pikkon lasts a tiny bit longer.

* TheNapoleon: The Dictator is treated as this, s he's just as short as Goten and Trunks and even they can't take him seriously.

As seen in the [[http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/0d/DBZ_THE_MOVIE_NO._12.jpg poster]], characters such as Cooler, Nappa, Raditz and Lord Slug are advertised but don't appear in the movie. And the villains that do appear on the poster and in the movie don't get any dialogue apart from Freeza. And even ''Freeza'' doesn't get that much screentime before Gohan one-shots him. One also has to wonder, ''[[FridgeLogic where the hell is Cell when this is all happening?]]''

Possibly lampshaded in the ''Shin Budokai'' arcade game, where they become friends.

* SuspiciouslySimilarSubstitute: Interestingly, Vegetto from the TV series is this trope to Gogeta. Akira Toriyama didn't want to step this movie's toes by stealing one of its big selling points, so when the time came for Goku and Vegeta to fuse he came up with the Potara earrings, which resulted in a similar but distinct character.

* UnexpectedCharacter: Pikkon. This movie takes place in Majin Buu arc, which he debuted in albeit in filler, but he's not featured in any form of advertising for the movie. He isn't even on the ''poster''. It's even more jarring when it's realized how much of a crucial role he plays throughout the entire movie.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Despite all the villains appearing in the movie, Cell was the only one ''not'' among them. Which is odd, considering he was the one who instigated and led the attempted break-out in the anime.
