Dejiko is still the princess of Planet Di Gi Charat who is heading for Earth with her friends Puchiko and Gema, however, she is specifically going to learn how to train to be a better princess. She ends up crash-landing on the planet, and now stranded takes refuge with the Omacha brothers in their toy store, while Puchiko goes to live with a married couple who run a bakery. While it may be a different series, Dejiko still gets into her usual antics; getting into conflict with her rival Rabi~en~Rose, evading the schemes of the Black Gema Gema Gang, and doing her best to become famous.

Nyo followed a two shorts format with each one being roughly around 11 minutes, and the show would ultimately have 104 episodes in total making it the longest Di Gi Charat anime by a wide margin.

!!The series provides examples of the following tropes, FT for short:

* AbledInTheAdaptation: It’s very minor, but unlike Takeshi, John does not wear glasses.
* AccidentalMisnaming: It’s a RunningGag that no one can ever remember Gema’s name, despite his protests that it should be the easiest to remember.
* AdaptationalAngstDowngrade: Rabi~en~Rose’s parents abandoned her in the original series and gave her the mission of becoming an idol. Here her parents are actually around and help to guide her on her mission.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Rabi~en~Rose’s parents are much better to her in Nyo and are actually around, in fact, they’re actually a little overbearing if anything.
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance:
** Kiyoshi and Yasushi appear in the first episode of the series, and before Rabi~en~Rose as well. Their counterparts in the original series did not debut until Episodes 3 and 5 respectively.
** As well, John and Paul both appear in the third episode alongside Rabi~en~Rose. Their counterparts did not debut until Episodes 5 and 6 respectively in the original series.
** Rod P. debuts before the Black Gema Gema Gang, the quartet was around before the original special that he debuted in.
** Rik, Ky, and Coo debut alongside Piyoko. The trio appeared a special or two after Piyoko was first introduced.
* AdaptationalLateAppearance: Mr. Manager, along with Gamers and Akihabara, don’t appear until roughly 30 episodes into the series. They were all around since Episode 1 in the original series.
* AdaptationalNameChange: Rod Young became Rod P.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Rabi~en~Rose is much less antagonistic towards Dejiko in this series compared to the original series. Despite this, Dejiko is just as rude as ever to her.
* AdaptationalJobChange:
** Dejiko and Puchiko work at a toy store and bakery respectively rather than at Gamers.
** Rod Young becomes a director in this series.
* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul:
** In the original series, Minigawa had a crush on Rabi~en~Rose that was very [[AllLoveIsUnrequited unrequited]]. Here, Rabi~en~Rose is actually the one who has a crush on Kiyoshi, and it’s implied he returns those feelings.
** Dejiko and Gema live with Kiyoshi and Yasushi, and thus interact regularly with them. In the original series, Minigawa and Kimura only ever really interacted with Rabi~en~Rose and Puchiko respectively.
** John and Paul are shown to be good friends with Yasushi, whereas the characters that the three were based on really had no connection in the original series.
* AdaptationalWealth: Inverted. Kimura was a very wealthy man in the original who lived in a large mansion. Yasushi on the other hand lives and works in a small toy shop.
* BeachEpisode
* BedsheetGhost: Yu-rei is allergic to the sun and has to wear a protective suit to go outside. Said protective suit looks like a ghost costume.
* BreakingTheFourthWall: John and Paul will sometimes talk to the audience about the episode that just played, at one point they state that they have nothing to say about an episode as they were not in it.
* BroughtToYouByTheLetterS: Rod P. wears a shirt with the letter P on it.
* BunglingInventor: Most of Yasushi’s inventions do not work as intended and if they do, they are not very useful.
* ButtMonkey:
** Unsurprisingly, Gema and Rabi~en~Rose are usually on the receiving end of Dejiko’s shenanigans.
** Yasushi regularly has his inventions blow up in his face and is often treated like an idiot by the rest of the cast
* CassandraTruth:
** Rabi~en~Rose tries to convince the group that she is the sibling of Hikaru Usada, however, they refuse to believe her.
** Dejiko can never convince the bathhouse owner she is from space and is an alien princess.
* {{Catchphrase}}: Yasushi regularly says “or [abbreviated words] for short” after saying or inventing something.
* ComicallySmallBribe: The spooky store owner offers Dejiko a pumpkin-flavored lollipop to make a delivery for him in Episode 35.
* ContinuityReboot: Takes place within an entirely different continuity than the original series.
* CutShort: As mentioned above, the dub of the series only made it to Episode 72.
* CuteGhostGirl: Yu-rei is a young ghost girl.
* DemotedToExtra: Gamers, and the rest of Akihabara for that matter, has nowhere near the prominence it did in the original series with it being the focus of only a handful of episodes.
* TheDragAlong: It is not uncommon for Rabi~en~Rose to be literally roped into Dejiko’s adventures.
* ElectricJellyfish: Gema falls in love with a jellyfish, and when he grabs one of her tentacles, it's clear that he's being shocked.
* ExcitedShowTitle: The show is called Di Gi Charat Nyo!
* {{Expy}}: Several characters from the original series were repurposed, while still filling a similar role.
** Minigawa became Kiyoshi and roughly stayed the same, being a young boy who goes to the same school as Rabi~en~Rose.
** Kimura became a toy designer named Yasushi, and also the older brother of Kiyoshi. He still retains his obsession with Piyoko however.
** Takeshi and Yoshimi became a pair of musicians named John and Paul. While still portrayed as fanboys, they are not exclusively Dejiko fanboys and instead gush over most things cute.
* FarOutForeignersFavoriteFood: Puchiko enjoys fermented beans.
* {{Flanderization}}: While Rinna was a {{Sleepyhead}} in Panyo Panyo, Nyo sees her end up being turned into a full-on narcoleptic with her falling asleep for a full week apparently being a common occurrence.
* FlatEarthAtheist: The Bathhouse owner refuses to believe that Dejiko is from space, even when she shows off things like her laser eye beams.
* ForgottenFirstMeeting: Non-Romantic example. Dejiko and Puchiko do not remember being friends with Rinna or Meek as kids.
* GarageSale: Episode 42 has Dejiko host a rummage sale for all of Yasushi’s old toys, rather unsuccessfully.
** Oinko and Oinkette, two schoolchildren, can’t afford anything.
** Dejiko tries to take advantage of John and Paul’s obsession with toys, unfortunately, they already own everything there that’s for sale.
** Eventually she manages to attract a crowd, only for them to decry everything for sale as worthless junk.
** Finally a spaceman comes and buys the whole lot. [[spoiler:Only for it to be revealed that it was Yasushi in disguise at the end of the episode much to the displeasure of Dejiko.]]
