** Not to mention much gorier than the game. While the game features plenty of [[AnArmAndALeg dismembering]] (specially if you use a blade melee weapon or explosives), there's not a lot of visible blood, unlike in the show. Also, when adding cybernetic implants, a fade to black cutscene will play and then V will walk out of the ripperdoc's office and immediately get back to his shenanigans. In the show however, David is shown to be in excruciating pain when installing them, and will also bleed through his clothes afterwards, showing a huge red stain along the spine of his coat (granted this may be related to his back-alley doctor, but V also visits some quite unsavory ripperdocs). Not to mention requiring heavy medication as he becomes accustomed to it at the risk of going into a coma, something Lucy points out is a rookie error. V is never shown to require any of that.

Zero Context, the subject matter of the show is not any darker than the game.

* DarkerAndEdgier: The game itself was already quite dark, but Edgerunners goes various steps further. Also counts as one for Hiroyuki Imaishi as this is his darkest and most serious work yet.

* AdaptationalBadass: Unbound by gameplay constraints, combat is significantly more lethal and more sudden than the game it's set in the universe of. As such, ''everyone'' looks more like a badass in this show. [[spoiler:Naturally, this includes Smasher, a notorious AntiClimaxBoss in the game, here living up to [[TheDreaded his status]] in full.]]
** As far as implants go, the Sandevistan (itself admittedly established in the series as being a military-grade model and thus cream of the crop in terms of function) is ''much'' more powerful here than it was in the game. While in the game, it slows down time to a great degree, it doesn't reach the level of power David has with it where he essentially becomes the Flash and can move faster than even speeding cars and explosions.

Aerith and Bob is for times when it doesnt make sense for characters to have such diverse names. It's not just "names have different origins". Lucy isnt even her full name anyway, and the show is set in a futuristic city that is a hodgepodge of different cultures and languages.
