Aside from the fact that they don't seem to get along, Angelina informs Nagisa that A-TEC's budget being slashed by seventy percent was completely unknown by several top executives in the company, hinting that the money was being embezzled somewhere. And in every episode he's in, his brother only seems to get madder and madder at everything being done by Nagisa and/or Kaito with A-TEC, despite Nagisa getting other results done such as working out a business deal with another company.

Nagisa then starts working to undermine and expose his brother's wrongdoings.]]

** Iris is hinted at having one as well, but unfortunately she can't remember much of it. Later episodes start having her suffer from traumatic flashbacks in which she slowly starts to recall events from her past, and that Nagisa seems to know a lot about her.

* GoingNative: Nagisa seems to be slowly warming to A-TEC by episode 8. Angelina notices it, and says he's become more likeable, if anything. [[spoiler:A large part of it is due to A-TEC's funds mysteriously getting funneled into other projects by Kiryu, without explanation as to why. Nagisa never really liked his half-brother anyway, and was hoping to find more dirt on him so he could expose whatever plans Kiryu seemed to be planning.]]

* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: The labor union representative and the politician they're supporting back in episode 4 shows up again in episode 8 with a request to have Kaito give for them due to how popular he was back when he first introduced the politician. He reminds them of how quickly they turned against him the moment he was promoted to management, but they kiss his butt and end up winning him over. His students are a bit amused at how quickly he too changed his opinion of them.

* LuminescentBlush: Angelina does a subtle one in episode 8 after noticing that Nagisa isn't quite the JerkAss he seemed to be prior to transferring to the A-TEC class.

* ThePromise: In episode 8, after Nagisa tells Mizuki that he would be too busy with work to enjoy the school festival aside from helping them prepare for it, she tells him to meet her and Iris by the school gate at five o'clock the next day, so they could at least visit the stalls and get some food before they closed shop. [[spoiler:He never actually agreed to it, but he does at least notice the time the following day after getting out of a meeting with his brother and boss Kiryu. Unfortunately he doesn't attend as he has to work on his own plan to expose his brother's corruption, and the episode ends with Mizuki and Iris waiting by the gate well past six.]]

* SchoolFestival: Episode 8 has a culture festival. A-TEC designs a giant manned water bottle rocket. Iris was originally the pilot, but falls ill, prompting Kaito to takeover. The rocket launches without any hiccups, pleasing the guests as it takes off into the sky. [[spoiler:Unfortunately something goes wrong, and he's forced to eject.]]

* SickEpisode: Iris suffers another traumatic flashback while testing the water bottle rocket for the culture festival in episode 8. Mizuki later finds out that she's got a fever, and has her rest.

* StrangeBedfellows: The labor union representative does this with Nagisa in episode 8, sharing some of his thoughts regarding the upcoming election, despite the management nominally supporting the opposition party. The rep then says that his job is to ensure the laborers continue to work, as the company going under would cause a loss of jobs. Nagisa also points out that should they win, they lack political experience, and would likely cause lots of problems as a result.

* ActionGirl: Angelina is hinted at being one initially, but never really gets to show off her skills until episode 7, where her charter plane is hijacked with Iris and Professor Jason Li.
* AfraidOfBlood: Iris has a severe traumatic flashback in episode 7 after seeing blood in the cockpit when Angelina's arm gets grazed by a bullet. So much so that she passes out for a short while, and they nearly hit a space station in the process.

* BodyguardBetrayal: The men in suits escorting Professor Li back to Mars in episode 7 ends up turning against him when they reveal they were actually heading to Earth instead.

* DamselInDistress: Subverted in episode 7. Some terrorists take over a charter flight Angelina and Iris were on with Professor Li. However, Angelina is an ActionGirl, and with a little help from the A-TEC members from far away, they are able to fight their way out of the situation.

* DefrostingIceQueen: Rare male example with Nagisa. He's very antagonistic towards the students and especially Kaito in A-TEC, and under orders from his brother, often has to force them to do more with less resources and money. However, in episode 6, after he reveals more of his DarkAndTroubledPast to Mizuki, he doesn't seem to be as hostile towards them, and even smiles from time to time.

** Angelina starts warming up to Iris after spending a lot of time with her at a seminar, and protecting her against some terrorists who hijack their charter flight. When it appears they were going to collide into a space station after they lose control, she shields Iris with her own body. Fortunately they miss.

Added DiffLines:

* GreenEyedMonster: Angelina seems a little jealous and irritated in episode 7 after finding out that Kaito studied under Professor Li, who is a very prominent rocket scientist, and spoke very highly of him. He also lets her in on one of Kaito's embarrassing secrets, though he whispers it into her ear.

Added DiffLines:

* HyperCompetentSidekick: Angelina is so reliable that Nagisa personally requested her to help him deal with the A-TEC situation. It helps that she's in love with him, but he seems ObliviousToLove.

Added DiffLines:

** In episode 7, when Nagisa complains to the A-TEC students that they're working well into the night against rules forbidding them from doing overtime, they state that it's hard for them to leave while their boss is still there working. Nagisa tries to claim he's an executive and therefore exempt from this. But then Kaito says the same exact thing as to why he hasn't left yet. He ultimately lets the issue slide.

Added DiffLines:

Added DiffLines:

* RunningGag:
** Kaito coming up with some great ideas, only to then be told it's not feasible, mostly for financial reasons.
** Angelina's voice getting higher pitched when upset with people calling her by her real name. She then insists they at least add "-sensei" to her name.

Added DiffLines:

* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight:
** A-TEC's students decide to rescue Nagisa after he's taken hostage in the first episode. They end up taking a very risky flight path to reach the mining station he was on in order to bring the money to the kidnappers.
** In episode 7, Nagisa is told by his brother that he would take care of the problem on Professor Li's charter flight after it's revealed the bodyguards were kidnappers. But because he doesn't trust his brother, as well as the fact that Angelina and Iris were also on the same flight, he lets the A-TEC students do what they do best to help rescue them.

Added DiffLines:

* WhyDontYouJustShootHim: Discussed in episode 7. The terrorists have handguns, but are stopped by Angelina and Iris mostly with punches and kicks before getting any shots off. They later discuss that shooting inside the plane may cause decompression, which happens when one of the terrorists accidentally shoots out one of the windows in the cockpit while trying to hit the women.

So technically he's the heir from both families, but this doesn't sit well with his half-brother, the JerkAss Yuji. This also sheds a new light on why Yuji always seemed to be angry at anything Nagisa was doing, as he detested Nagisa from the moment they met, and was also responsible for the scars on Nagisa's back.

Nagisa reveals that he was born to a different mother than Yuji, his older half-brother. And the only reason why they took him after his mother passes away was because she owned 30 percent of the stock in the Kirishina Corporation. * FreudianExcuse: Nagisa's upbringing and past is delved on more in episode 6, and he even tells Mizuki that his half-brother Yuji doesn't like him at all, as seen by all of their interactions in previous episodes. Nagisa continually pulling off WeDoTheImpossible seems to be one subtle way he's sticking it to his brother, as he was constantly assigned to areas meant to be closed down, only for them to succeed due to his leadership.

* IronicEcho: In episode 6, Nagisa rejects Kaito's request for additional funds, telling him that he'll have to figure out how to work with the resources he has. Immediately in the next scene, Kaito then forces Nagisa to stay after school to study after he fails all of the tests miserably. When Nagisa protests, Kaito simply recalls that line used on him earlier.

* LoopholeAbuse: Kaito manages to secure some office circulars to get the money to acquire the equipment they needed to run A-TEC operations with in episode 4, after having been forcefully promoted into management by Nagisa. Basically he couldn't ask for 600 million yen upfront (not that he didn't try in previous episodes though), so instead he asked for 20 million yen, the max amount he could request without approval from his boss, thirty times at different points during the two weeks he had been promoted. When Angelina suspects fraud, one of the students points out that while there's a limit to how much they can get per request, there's no company rules or guidelines stating how many times they can ask for funds. They even check the company policy books several times to make sure. Nagisa tells him later that since his 30 requests weren't all sent at once, and each were for legitimate business use, he wouldn't of been able to veto it even if he was aware of the plan ahead of time.

** In episode 6, Nagisa is quite angry that the other A-TEC students are still in the workshop late into the evening. They claim that they were just discussing ideas on how to improve the engine with their limited resources, and that it was more like extracurricular activities, rather than work. Mizuki then asks them to help tutor Nagisa after he says staying late to study wasn't considered work.

* ScarsAreForever: Nagisa has some rather big ones on his back. In episode 6 he reveals they were due to his half-brother Yuji. Though it's normally hidden away by his clothing, Mizuki gets a glimpse of it in episode 5 after he accidentally knocks down the wall separating the men and women's hot springs when Iris enters the men's side.

* TrainingFromHell: Nagisa receives extensive tutoring from the entire A-TEC class in episode 6 to help him pass his tests. It works, as he barely passes his tests the second time he has to retake them.

** Nagisa is a rising star in the business world, having turned around several failing branches of the company prior to being assigned to A-TEC. However, this earns the ire of his brother, who seems to be his boss as well. He doesn't seem to like that Nagisa is turning them profitable again as opposed to being sent there to shut those places down.

* AmusingInjuries: Angelina slaps Kaito rather hard in episode 4 after he calls her by her real name. In the next scene, several hours seem to have passed, and he's still got a red handprint on his face.

* BreakingTheFellowship: Several of the A-TEC students leave after the facility is moved to an old and outdated one in order to cut costs in episode 3. However, they return in the following episode, after watching the remaining students continue their attempts to save A-TEC.
* ChristmasCake: Angelina, who doesn't seem happy when Kaito innocently asks how long she's been with the company after she mentions being in accounting for many years.

* HamToHamCombat: Kaito and Angelina at the end of episode 4 engage in this, arguing about age and dating.

* OutGambitted: Two are done in episode 4:
** Kaito has A-TEC join the company union in order to bolster support for them. Unfortunately he's then promoted to management, working directly under Nagisa. The union cuts their ties with him immediately as a result as they can only represent laborers, not the bosses.
** Due to said promotion, Kaito loses union support, but suddenly also has new authority. He exploits said authority by requesting small amounts of funds repeatedly that didn't need Nagisa's approval first.

* SayMyName: Kaito calls Angelina by her real name, "Hanako Hattori" in episode 4. When she inquires as to how he found out, one of his students says that a "little birdie in HR told her."
* ScaryShinyGlasses: Angelina's glasses do this from time to time.

* ShipTease: Some is done in episode 4 when Kaito and Angelina get into an argument about age and marriage.

* BreakingTheFellowship: Several of the A-TEC students leave after the facility is moved to an old and outdated one in order to cut costs in episode 3.

* ComplainingAboutRescuesTheyDontLike: The A-TEC class decides to mount a daring rescue mission of their new transfer student being held hostage in the first episode. Unfortunately, unknown to them, Nagisa managed to talk his way out of the hostage situation peacefully, and they end up wrecking the prototype ship they had been working on, costing millions in repairs.
* CorruptCorporateExecutive: Nagisa's brother is strongly implied to be one. Aside from the fact that they don't seem to get along, Angelina informs Nagisa that A-TEC's budget being slashed by seventy percent was completely unknown by several top executives in the company, hinting that the money was being embezzled somewhere.

Unfortunately it looks like the top brass are ready to write him off as a necessary sacrifice as they're unwilling to pay the workers holding him the back pay they were promised. Fortunately Nagisa manages to work out a solution off screen to the problem, and he's already freed by the time Iris reaches him.

* TokenEvilTeammate: Nagisa, and his accountant, Angelina. She ends up moving A-TEC's facilities from a top of the line facility to an old building used by the original founders. Unfortunately it was a necessary cost-cutting measure, as they only had enough funding for about three months at the current facility, and they could continue using the old building for 1/20th of the original cost. She also tells them that they'll have to become more creative, as they no can no longer just throw money at every problem they run into.
* WeDoTheImpossible: Nagisa is a rising star in the business world, having turned around several failing branches of the company prior to being assigned to A-TEC. However, this earns the ire of his brother, who seems to be his boss as well. He doesn't seem to like that Nagisa is turning them profitable again as opposed to being sent there to shut those places down.
* WhamEpisode: Episode 3, where Nagisa has Angelina come in to cut costs from the A-TEC students as much as possible. While she manages to keep their class intact, they lose the factory they had been working in, and are transferred to the original building the two original founders of the company worked out of, which is very old and dilapidated. Several of the students end up leaving as well, figuring that they're leaving a sinking ship.
* WhatTheHellHero: Several of Kaito's students say this to him after Angelina moves the A-TEC facility from a top of the line factory to the old building the original founders used in episode 3.
* WorldOfCardboardSpeech: Kaito gives one in an interview during episode 2. He apparently forgot about it, since as he watched it, the stuff he said back then roused him enough to try and salvage what he could for A-TEC.
