* BareFistedMonk: Many Xuanwu martial artists don't use weapons. Chairman Jiang is one of them, using techniques from the Heaven Lily clan that don't require any weaponry, it does give her KamehameHadoken attacks though.
** Introduced in Season 3 is Ouyang Zan, a more traditional version of this trope, aside from his fighting style revolving around shoving his thumbs into his enemies' articulations, which is more effective than one might think.

A killer in service of Xuanwu who has visions of disastrous events, and makes it his mission to stop them from happening, only killing to protect the country. [[spoiler: Two years ago, he has foresaw Seven killing the Beast Of Xuanwu, but was [[MyGreatestFailure unable to stop him.]] With Seven on his way back to Xuanwu, the Blind Sorcerer once again foresaw that Seven would be the source of the greatest disaster Xuanwu would ever endure. To avoid it, he attempts to murder Seven. But Seven protecting Thirteen even under the effect of the [[PsychoSerum Dark Frost Dagger]] and running away was not in his vision, [[ThisCannotBe confusing him greatly]] and making him take a step back.]]

* CantActPervertedTowardALoveInterest: Seven has the pervy streak of what you'd expect of a 21 yr old virgin, but he treats [[ActionGirl Thirteen]] with respect and politeness. He even gets [[LuminescentBlush morbidly embarrassed]] at the thought of her having seen him change clothes.

* TheChessmaster: [[spoiler: Green Phoenix has been pulling strings in the background to further his own agenda: [[{{Revenge}} killing the Leader of the Shadow Killers.]] This included killing [[BloodyMurder Red Tooth]], letting Seven [[TakingTheHeat Take The Heat]] and sending him to Xuanwu, ordering Thirteen to poison him with the [[PsychoSerum Dark Frost Dagger,]] and letting him run wild. The chaos distracted the other Shadow Killers, letting Green Phoenix duel [[BigBad The Leader]] to the death without interferance.]]

* ChattyHairdresser: Seven often has small talk with his clients, some of which serve as gags or exposition. From teasing [[CowardlyLion Spring Wind Ichiro]], getting info from [[VirginPower He Dachun]], or recieving a magazine from [[PerpetualPoverty Cheap Hua]].

** [[MurderInc Shadow Killers]] are forbidden from killing each other. This however doesn't stop [[DemonicPossession Red Tooth]] from [[{{Understatement}} bullying]] the [[ChildProdigy newcomer]]. [[spoiler: To avoid the repercussions of that rule, [[TheChessmaster Green Phoenix]] finishes off Red Tooth and lets [[TakingTheHeat Seven take the kill,]] since Seven [[HeelFaceTurn already betrayed the Shadow Killers,]] Letting Green Phoenix keep his cover.]]

* CunningLikeAFox: The approprietly named White Fox of the [[MurderInc Shadow Killers.]] [[spoiler: To take Seven down and lure him out, he takes the long road by going to Chicken Island, finding Seven's friends, calling Seven to threaten him, laying low for a bit... Before causing chaos, and basically [[IHaveYourWife taking the entire island hostage.]]]]
* CutLexLuthorACheck: Played for Laughs: Dai Bo himself mentioned he could have made millions off his invention instead of giving them to a klutz like Seven. [[spoiler:Except it's implied he tinkered with scavenged S.T.A.N. tech. And possibly mixed it with Chi magic. Neither faction takes patent infringement well.]]

* DualWielding: Thirteen's technique of choice, using two blades, one for each hand, and even one at the tip of her braid. * EnforcedTechnologyLevels: The nation of Xuanwu is a self-inflicted example - they reject modern technology out of a belief that doing so will make them stronger martial artists. This naturally makes them [[TheMagicVersusTechnologyWar mortal enemies]] of S.T.A.N.

* ForbiddenLove: Within the Heaven Lily clan, relationships and love is forbidden, which lead to the very messy situation between [[spoiler: [[YoungerThanTheyLook Chairman Jiang]] and Quan, now [[BloodyMurder Red Tooth.]] Both of them were disciples of that clan that fell in love with each other, but Jiang turned down [[{{Elopement}} running away with him]] to become next head of the clan. [[NotGoodWithRejection Quan]], sick and tired of the clan that [[KickTheDog mistreated him,]] freed the [[DemonicPossession Blood Demon]] and caused chaos. Jiang saved his life, was punished for it with RapidAging, they both left, and went their separate ways. Reunited in season 2, Quan became [[ProfessionalKiller Red Tooth]], and seeked out Jiang to undo a seal placed onto him. He almost dies by [[AmnesiacHero Seven]] and [[TheChessmaster Green Phoenix]] hands, but Jiang once again [[HealingSpring saves his life.]] By season 4 they made a deal, in exchange for his seal being undone, Red Tooth had to protect Chicken Island in Jiang's stead. It's implied their feelings for each other are still very much alive, but the circumstances, Jiang's [[MyGreatestFailure guilt]] and Red Tooth's DemonicPossession SanitySlippage makes it [[{{Understatement}} very complicated.]]]]

** Thirteen is eventually faced with an ultimatum by her master of either [[spoiler: leave Seven to his fate and bury her feelings for him forever, or saving him at the cost of becoming an enemy of the [[MurderInc Killer League.]] She attempts to go through with the former, but finds herself unable to do so, saving Seven's life in the end.]]

** In season 2, upon seeing Thirteen about to be attacked by Captain Jack, [[spoiler: he has a {{Flashback}} to a woman getting killed by a Xuanwu monster. This immediatly [[ThemeMusicPowerUp wakes him up]] and makes him unleash hell onto Captain Jack.]]
* TrouserSpace: Seven tends to keep most of his gear in his shorts - including his scissors. A bold move to be sure.

** Years ago, Eleven attempted to [[spoiler: murder her 7 year old brother out of hatred for her [[ParentalNeglect father]] and clan. Thirteen intervened, thwarting the attempt.]]

* AmnesiacHero: Seven himself. In the rare moments he actually stops to think, it's a source of some comedic angst as he has no history of his own. [[spoiler: He eventually decides to recover his memories at the end of season 4, believing he needs to know to confront it.]]

[[spoiler: Her master, Green Pheonix, ackowledges this and warns her via an ultimatum: Give up on Seven and leave him to [[CruelAndUnusualDeath his fate]], or take his side but not being an assassin anymore. After attempting to go for the former, she finds herself unable to do so, and [[LoveRedeems takes Seven's side, saving his life.]]]]

* LegendaryWeapon: The [[BifurcatedWeapon Thousand Demon Dagger,]] made for offense rather than defense. It is made of a thousand pieces of metal that can all be individually [[FlyingWeapon controlled by chi.]] This can let it [[MorphWeapon pass through obstacles, extend its length, or be used as a projectile.]] In incompetent hands however, it is but a [[WhatAPieceOfJunk cracked blade.]] It is the most treasured weapon of the Godly Smiths (Shenduen), and guarded by a demon. [[spoiler: [[ProfessionalKiller Seven,]] searching for the best weapon to use, was told of its existence and location by Green Pheonix. He got his hands on it and became its weilder at [[ChildProdigy 16.]] So far, [[FindersRulers he is the only one]] [[OnlyTheChosenMayWeild who has been able to use it.]]]]

** [[DefrostingIceQueen Thirteen]] is haunted by the death of her mother, whom she had failed to protect against assassins. She then seeked strength under [[ProfessionalKiller Green Pheonix's]] tutelage to NeverBeHurtAgain.

* OldMaster: Subverted, as Green Pheonix, [[DefrostingIceQueen Thirteen's]] master, is only 27 at the series' beggining, he also [[spoiler: joined the [[MurderInc Shadow Killers]] and took in Thirteen as his student at 21.]]

** In a tragic twist, [[spoiler:Green Pheonix is one to Thirteen. Having taught her and taken care of her since the death of her mother. This is exploited by The Leader, who places Thirteen in danger purposely to stop Green Pheonix from attempting to kill him.]]

** This turns out to be [[spoiler: [[TheChessmaster Green Pheonix's]] entire motivation. The [[BigBad Leader of the Shadow Killers]] has killed his entire family, and Green Pheonix joined the Shadow Killers to seek the opportunity to kill him. He pretended being a DualWielding specialist, and took in Thirteen to thicken his cover. Upon discovering Seven was alive, he believed he would be an obstacle to his revenge and tasked Thirteen to kill him. Finding out Seven was amnesiac, he saw an opportunity: He tricked Seven into going to Xuanwu, ordered Thirteen to poison him with the [[PsychoSerum Dark Frost Dagger]], and let him run wild, distracting the Shadow Killers, and letting Green Pheonix confront the Leader without interferance. But Green Pheonix couldn't finish him off, as he escaped the battle to save Thirteen, letting his one oppurtinity for revenge pass by.]]

* SupernaturalMartialArts:To counter s.t.a.n, an empire of technology and science, Xuanwu is a land of martial arts and killers. Said martial arts includes all forms of magic from energy manipulation to telekinesis and so on and so forth.

** When [[spoiler: Seven]] became a Shadow Killer at 15 years old, [[DemonicPossession Red Tooth]] wasted no time provoking him into doing the assassin equivalent of bullying the newcomer at the workplace, which included [[VampireBitesSuck biting his shoulder and sucking out his blood.]] [[spoiler: Green Pheonix]] had to break up the fight before it went further.

* {{Yandere}}: [[FlowerMotifs Manjusaka]] from the [[MurderInc Shadow Killers]]. [[spoiler: She "always liked" Seven, and [[GreenEyedMonster feels jealous when he treats other women better.]] When he went missing after [[HeelFaceTurn protecting a girl, and betraying the Killer League in the process,]] she [[MurderTheHypotenuse murdered the girl.]] Crosses into {{Squick}} territory knowing that Seven was [[ChildProdigy 15 years old]] when he first became a Shadow Killer. She apparently liked Green Pheonix at some point as well.]]

** A stand-out one in Season 3, as Seven "battles" [[JerkJock Coach Bobi Chen]]. After the coach insults [[spoiler: He Dachun for being weak and never breaking through level 2 of [[VirginPower Indestructibility]],]] [[OOCIsSeriousBusiness Seven pauses and seriously tells the coach]] [[OneHitKill he can take him out in one strike.]] Coach laughs it off, [[TemptingFate swearing to give up if Seven actually does it.]] In a [[JawDrop jaw-dropping moment]], Seven [[spoiler: exploits the AchillesHeel of Indistructibility,]] and does just that.

* BewareTheSillyOnes: Being a comedy series, nearly every character is sily in some way, but also have some kind of super power up their sleeve, with Seven as its shining example. He's BookDumb, impulsive, has SkewedPriorities, and appearance wise is described as ugly. But he can also control a sharp pair of scissors with his mind, and can get very creative with both it and his [[VoluntaryShapeshifting transformation eggs.]] [[spoiler: And that's before mentionning he used to be one of the best killers in the world, and when he gets serious or in mortal danger, he's not afraid to unleash his [[BifurcatedWeapon Thousand Demon Daggers]] and the techniques hard-wired into his muscle memory.]]

** He Dachun's [[VirginPower Indestructible Virgin]] makes his body as hard as metal, but as long as the technique isn't at its highest level [[spoiler: a simple poke in the belly button deflates his entire body like a balloon, leaving him defensless. Eleven and Red Tooth uses it against Dachun, and Seven uses that weakness to defeat Coach Chen in [[OneHitKill a stringle strike]].]]
** Black Bird appears near invicible, as his power makes him [[spoiler: [[FeelNoPain unable to feel any pain.]] But it also makes him [[WeakenedbytheLight sensible to sunlight in his eyes.]] Seven exploits this to let his guard down and get good hits in.]]
