* Happens in the third arc of ''Literature/{{Bakemonogatari}}''. AnAesop of the second arc was that Senjogouhara needs to be honest with Araragi about what's actually going on, or they're unlikely to make any significant progress in their relationship. But then in the third arc, Araragi lies to Senjogouhara about how he was beaten and mangled by Kanbaru. He then proceeds to keep her uninformed as he takes Kanbaru to Oshino to cure her affliction, even though Senjougahara is the whole reason why Kanbaru attacked him in the first place. [[spoiler:Senjougahara calls him out on this in the climax after Oshino explains to her what's going on.]]

** In the English version of ''Anime/PokemonTheFirstMovie'', [[AnAesop the lesson]] the gang learns is [[IWillFightNoMoreForever "Fighting Is Wrong"]]. For a series based on having Trainers making their Pokémon fight each other until they [[NonLethalKO go unconscious]], this could have been a [[WhamEpisode bold move]], to say the least. However, most likely in the interest of [[CashCowFranchise sixteen more seasons and fifteen additional films (to date)]], the writers decided to have Mewtwo erase everyone's memories of the events on the island and have everyone leave with an overall feeling of happiness and accomplishment. The characters, especially Team Rocket, couldn't recall the important life lessons that they learned. This could be justified as Mewtwo believed it was more important to keep his crew safe from harm. The gang is then seen in the wrap-up montage [[IWillFightSomeMoreForever using their Pokemon to fight each other...]] It wasn't that much better in the Japanese version where the motto is "All Life Is Equal," but at least it didn't come off as entirely hypocritical like it is in the dub.

* ''Anime/PatlaborTheTVSeries'': Episode 29 centers around virtually all of the SVU getting crippled by issues with their usual lunch place, first because Ohta offends the owner and gets them blacklisted from delivery for half the episode, followed by their order being contaminated by a disgruntled delivery driver and causing them all to get food poisoning once they're back in the restaurant's good graces. Takeo notes that they can't allow themselves to be too dependent on a single source of food again. Then Noa comes by to pick up the day's lunch orders, from the same restaurant, and Takeo makes her order without thinking. Of course, it should be noted that the reason they always buy from that one restaurant is because they have no choice - their base is so far out of town that nobody else will deliver there, and that one restaurant likely makes an exception for them because the entire base orders lunch from them every day.

* Just as fast as the ''LightNovel/StudentCouncilsDiscretion'' example, there's one from the ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' manga. One story has Tsunami, disguised as an old man in a dream, take away Ryoko's tolerance for alcohol as punishment for her glutinous ways breaking the Masaki home bank. And she does this the day before a special drinking-style event. Despite the now incredibly-low tolerance for the drink, Ryoko pushes through and wins the day. Tsunami restores Ryoko's tolerance and gifts her with a lot more sake to drink and Ryoko promises to go easy. The last panel reveals that Ryoko blazed through all of those drinks ''in a month''.

* ''LightNovel/ACertainMagicalIndex'': Touma Kamijou gets into a lot of AccidentalPervert moments. A lot of these could be easily avoided if he would just remember to knock before entering a room. In fact, he asked himself why he didn't do this when he walked in on Orsola Aquinas about to take a shower, but he still keeps forgetting. He could also avoid a lot of his bad luck incidents if he would just watch where he's going and what he says. On a more serious note, while he's always telling the people he saves YouAreNotAlone and that they can always call on him for help, he almost never calls for help himself and tries to solve problems by himself. When people bring it up, he'll say he doesn't want to bother anyone.

* In ''Manga/{{Bakuman}}'', Nanamine tries to climb to the top of Shonen Jump by using a handpicked group of online consultants to help write his manga instead of just listening to his editor. After his plan fails and his consultants desert him, he vows to try again fair and square. A later arc reveals that he lied about this, and instead tries a refined version of his previous strategy, using older and out of work artists as guinea pigs. Since he ends up getting banned from working for Jump after this, there's no chance of him actually larning his lesson.

* ''Anime/CardfightVanguard'': A somewhat bizarre example with [[TheHero Aichi Sendou]] and [[TheRival Toshiki Kai]] because they don't forget lessons that they learned. Rather, they forget lessons that they had no need to learn in the first place. Aichi begins the series with unwavering belief in and loyalty to his friends and family, but absolutely zero self-confidence. Kai begins the series as a cardfighter of overwhelming skill but doesn't know how to rely on anyone but himself so when he's not the strongest guy in the room he's at a complete loss for what to do. By the end of Season 3, Aichi has learned to believe in his own strength while Kai has learned that needing to rely on other people sometimes is not weakness. At the start of Season Four, however, they've both magically forgotten the lessons they've spent the last three seasons teaching ''each other''.

She does have a good reason for going with immaterial clothing, from her own perspective. She ends up naked either way, she's less likely to end up both conscious and naked, and arguably the first time it happened (with real clothes) traumatized her the most. (And while we never find out, she may also care about the destruction of the clothes or their cost.))

** Takane D. Goodman only wears clothes or armor made from her shadow magic. The problem is whenever her magic gets disrupted in any way or if she gets knocked out, her outfit goes poof, leaving her naked and humiliated. She constantly picks fights with Negi and Asuna, who can easily disrupt her or knock her out. Despite being humiliated again and again, she never learns her lesson to wear regular clothes, or at least underwear. When she and her comrades prepare to join the final battle, she offers to equip her comrades with her shadow armor. They refuse and ask if she's out of her mind because it is so unreliable, but she doesn't understand what the problem is.
