* Yuuichi, in the KyotoAnimation remake of ''VisualNovel/{{Kanon}}'', is played by Creator/TomokazuSugita. In one episode, he does a DeadpanSnarker narration monologue exactly in character as Kyon, Sugita Tomokazu's character from ''LightNovel/HaruhiSuzumiya''. It doesn't turn out to be just narration, though -- Kaori can hear him say it, and she's not amused. Again, just like Kyon. [[spoiler:The scene is actually in the original VisualNovel though, but nobody really care.]]

*** Sadly, this joke is lost in the dub, mainly because AIR is dubbed by Creator/{{FUNimation}}. And a general rule of thumb, you really can't use VA from California to do Texan anime dubs due to...''[[UsefulNotes/UnionsInHollywood legal reasons]]''.

** It's not the first time Creator/YuShimamura has voiced [[TheLegendOfZeldaSkywardSword a blonde girl who ends up encasing herself in crystal.]]

* In ''Anime/MyselfYourself'', Yukari Tamura plays Shuri, who at one point gives a haunting, foreboding PostEpisodeTrailer narration that culminates with [[OnTheNextEpisodeOfCatchphrase "Can you believe in it?"]] Another character [[BreakingTheFourthWall points out]], "Um, Shuri, I think you've got the [[VisualNovel/HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi wrong show!]]"

* The battle of Ren (voiced by Creator/TomokazuSeki, Domon Kasshu from ''[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam G Gundam]]'') and Kojūrō (Creator/NobuyukiHiyama, Guy Shishioh from ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'') in ''TheyAreMyNobleMasters'' is [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjTCmzVNYdM rife with this]], including Kojūrō [[HeyThatsMyLine stealing some of Ren's lines]]. The battle even ends on this note when [[spoiler:The Colonel suddenly appears and finishes off both with the CatchPhrase of Master Asia from ''[[Anime/MobileFighterGGundam G Gundam]]'', the two also have the same voice actor.]]

* In OkamiSan, the "maid" Otsuu is voiced by AyakoKawasumi, voice of the android maid Mahoro in Mahoromatic. In one episode, Otsuu encounters a butler who, at the end of the conversation says he has one last question. He begins Mahoro's most famous catchphrase, and Otsuu finishes immediately. The narrator proceeds to wonder whether they can legally do this.
* Episode 5 of ''Anime/{{Pokemon}}'' contains one during a rather elaborate ShoutOut to Episode 48 of ''FushigiYuugi'': In FY, during the fight between Tamahome and Suboshi, Suboshi ends up getting [[HoistByHisOwnPetard killed by his own weapon]] when he finds himself pinned down by the ghosts of Tamahome's brothers and sisters (whom Suboshi had killed) and unable to get out of the way. In ''Pokemon'', just as Satoshi (Ash) is about to order Pikachu to deliver the finishing blow to Takeshi's (Brock's) Onix, he imagines himself being held back from giving the order by Takeshi's many younger siblings (though it turns out they really ''are'' holding Satoshi back). What makes this an ActorAllusion is that in the Japanese version of their respective shows, Takeshi and Suboshi are both voiced by seiyuu Creator/YujiUeda.

** Episodes 14 and 15 contain one ''DragonballZ'' shout out each in the dub (but not in the original Japanese version), with [[Creator/ChristopherSabat Giroro]] doing the referencing.

* When Creator/{{Sunrise}} changed the last names of nearly all ''Anime/MaiHiME'' characters for ''Anime/MaiOtome'', Haruka Suzushiro became Haruka Armitage, a reference to one of Ryōka Yuzuki's previous roles -- Naomi Armitage from ''Anime/ArmitageIII''.

* In the first episode of ''Manga/FushigiYuugi'', Miaka gives an InTheNameOfTheMoon speech to a group of street thugs attacking her: Miaka's voice actress, Creator/KaeAraki, played Anime/SailorMoon for several episodes while her regular voice actress was ill, and also played Chibiusa on the same series.

** In two cases of the original English dub of ''Anime/SailorMoon'', Kristen Bishop plays villainesses with ComedicSociopathy and really annoying laughs - Zoycite and Emerald.

* Ever since Creator/RieKugimiya's appearance in ''LightNovel/ShakuganNoShana'', she has made the "Urusai Urusai Urusai!" line in some of the roles she has voiced afterwards (e.g. Louise in ''LightNovel/ZeroNoTsukaima'', Nagi in ''Manga/HayateTheCombatButler'', Taiga in ''LightNovel/{{Toradora}}'', Aria in ''LightNovel/AriaTheScarletAmmo'')

** In episode 10 of season 1, an intermission artwork shows Nagi dress up as Louise from ''LightNovel/ZeroNoTsukaima''.

** Even the Hayate manga is able to sneak in an actor allusion. In chapter 148, there's [[http://www.mangafox.com/manga/hayate_the_combat_butler/c148/9.html a parody of the class roster picture]] from ''MahouSenseiNegima''. In the roster, Hayate is seen to have the same student number as Kaede from Negima. This is no coincidence, as Hayate and Kaede are both voiced by Creator/RyokoShiraishi.

* In ''Anime/RahXephon'', Haruka introduces herself to Ayato as a "champion of justice". The phrase and [[Creator/AyaHisakawa voice actress]] both were in ''Anime/SailorMoon''. (She voices Ami)

** Hei's voice actor also voiced [[Anime/{{Monster}} Tenma]], and in the TimeSkip between the two seasons, Hei mirrors him in going from clean-cut MrFanservice to sexiest hobo ever.
*** A dub-based one- Creator/JohnSwasey, who voices Huang, voiced Gendo Ikari of ''Anime/NeonGenesisEvangelion''. The relevance comes in at the end of the first season, with a scene that is clearly inspired by Evangelion's "[[GainaxEnding congratulations scene]]".

* Speaking of ''VisualNovel/HigurashiNoNakuKoroNi'', in the [[BeachEpisode Pool Episode]] (Episode 1 of ''Rei''), this is combined with CaptainErsatz and {{Expy}}. When Chie-sensei is recruited to help take Keiichi's swimming trunks off, she whips out T squares which look a lot like [[VisualNovel/{{Tsukihime}} Black keys]].

* In one of the ''VisualNovel/UminekoNoNakuKoroNi'' previews, Virgilia, a centuries-old witch, insists that she is [[Creator/KikukoInoue "only 17 years old."]]
* A slightly complex example, and probably not intentional, but the fans have latched onto it anyway. In ''TsubasaReservoirChronicle'', Fai is voiced by Creator/DaisukeNamikawa. In the drama [=CDs=], Namikawa also voices Fai's twin brother Yuui, who happens to be an Italian chef. Fast forward a couple years, and Namikawa is voicing both North and South Italy in ''Manga/AxisPowersHetalia'', who have an obsession with pasta. Cue Tsubasa fans writing fanfics with Fai and Yuui calling for [[MemeticMutation PASTAAAAA~]] at the drop of a hat.

* Creator/AkiraKamiya, the voice of Ryo Saeba in ''Manga/CityHunter'' and ''Manga/AngelHeart'', was also the original voice of Kenshiro in ''[[FistOfTheNorthStar Hokuto no Ken]]''. Episode 42 of ''Angel Heart'' centers around Ryo dating a popular anchorwoman. When Ryo meets the anchorwoman's boss, he finds out that the man is an old comrade-in-arms named Sanemichi Bando. Mr. Bando is voiced by none other than Creator/KenjiUtsumi, the voice of Raoh (Kenshiro's rival) in ''Hokuto no Ken''.

* ''Anime/AbenobashiMahouShoutengai'''s Grandpa Masa was voiced by Creator/TakeshiAono, who also did Creator/MichaelPalin's roles in the Japanese dub of ''Series/MontyPythonsFlyingCircus''. Something to keep in mind in Episode 12, when Grandpa goes "lumberjack"!

* In one episode of ''Anime/FullMetalPanicFumoffu'', Kaname muses that she'd like to install a device in Sousuke's brain that would let her zap him whenever he did something embarassing. Kaname's voice actress, Creator/SatsukiYukino, also voiced Kagome from ''Anime/InuYasha'', who did much the same to the titular character via his RestrainingBolt necklace. The allusion is {{lampshaded}} when Kyouko protests that Sousuke isn't a dog.
** The next-to-last scene of Ep. 12 contains the following exchange, occurring when the screen is dark: "Hey Luci, good job, that was fun, huh?" "Um, yeah, but you're not done yet. You still have another line, Chris Patton!" "Oh, wait. There's still more?" "Hello... Turn the page, goofball!" (references to Creator/LuciChristian, who plays Kaname Chidori, and Creator/ChrisPatton, who plays Sousuke Sagara).

* The cross over chapter/episodes of ''Manga/SketDance'' with Manga/{{Gintama}}. where with the exception of [[Creator/RieKugimiya Kagura]], EVERYONE got an ActorAllusion. To note:

* In the ''Anime/SmilePrettyCure'' episode where [[spoiler: Miyuki and Candy switch bodies]], Akaoni sneezes [[spoiler: Majorina's ring]] away. This spoofs a Garfield and Friends quickie in which Binky the Clown sneezes dust that came from a diamond away. The same person who voiced Akaoni, Iwasaki Hiroshi, did the voice of Binky the Clown in the Japanese version of ''WesternAnimation/GarfieldAndFriends'' that aired on Creator/CartoonNetwork.

** The episode where Jessie tries to train to become a nurse is a reference to her voice actress Creator/MegumiHayashibara, who was also training to be a nurse in the early days of her career.

* ''Anime/EarthDefenderMaoChan'' includes a character (Kagome Mishima) who looks identical to Ken Akamatsu's previous and better-known series ''LoveHina'''s Naru Narusegawa; another character (Sylvia) is voiced by Naru's VA Creator/YuiHorie. At one point, the characters visit a hot springs resort which is clearly the one from Love Hina - they even describe it as "the hot-springs which magically makes people get in to Tokyo U!" It's inhabited by another character looking identical to Naru, and when Kagome introduces herself to the Naru-alike and asks her name, another character says "No! Don't answer that!" In the English dub, Naru and Kagome have the same English voice-actress.

* Creator/ADVFilms used this to insert ''even more'' {{Expy}}-based gags into ''MartianSuccessorNadesico'' than there already were, especially regarding the main character, voiced by Creator/{{Spike|Spencer}} "[[IAmNotSpock Shinji Ikari]]" [[Creator/SpikeSpencer Spencer]].

** Before the announcement (later the release date) of the anime adaption, many fans has been expecting Suwabe as a perfect candidate to voice Hayama, not only because of some similar appearance like Venom, but also a smooth personality. Later, the official begun to think a same thing about Suwabe voices Akira, and thus, [[LamarkWasRight the fans was right]] after seeing Hayama's traits.

* Creator/AkiraKamiya, the voice of Ryo Saeba in ''CityHunter'' and ''Manga/AngelHeart'', was also the original voice of Kenshiro in ''[[FistOfTheNorthStar Hokuto no Ken]]''. Ako dons cat ears (given by Riko), is called "Ako-nyan", and momentarily pauses in front of a music store with five mannequins, who sported 2 guitars, a bass, a keyboard, and a drum set. Naturally, these are all unsubtle nods to seiyuu Creator/AyanaTaketatsu voicing Azusa Nakano in ''Manga/KOn''
** Creator/AyanaTaketatsu tends to attract these in general. In the anime adaptation of ''LightNovel/{{Oreimo}}'', she owns a DVD boxset of [[Anime/KissXSis "Sis x Sis"]] and mentions as an aside that "little sisters should have [[Manga/KOn black hair and twin tails]]."

* In the GagDub of ''Anime/ShinChan'' Hiro and Mitzi have a [[MundaneMadeAwesome faux-epic]] newspaper-sword fight and Hiro calls one of his attacks "Sword of the Darkness Flame", which was an attack of Hiei from ''Manga/YuYuHakusho'', both voiced by Chuck Huber.

** A few scenes in episode seven consist of Konata using ultra-polite Japanese and the phrase "A girl should be elegant", traits of another character once played by Aya Hirano: Lumiere from ''KiddyGrade''.

* In ''Manga/HidamariSketch'', Miyako cuts an apple into the vague shape of an animal head while Yuno is sleeping, but when Yuno brings it up to her, she claims it must have come from an alternate dimension. Yuno jokingly suggests that a fairy crafted it. KaoriMizuhashi, Miyako's ''seiyuu'', has voiced at least three fairies: [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaOcarinaOfTime Navi]], [[VideoGame/TheLegendOfZeldaPhantomHourglass Ciela]], and, in the anime world, [[Anime/ALittleSnowFairySugar Pepper]].

** And let's not forget the [[BloodKnight psychotically]] HotBlooded redhead Combat Butler voiced by the same guy who did the voice of Gai in ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' who uses pretty much all of GaoGaiGar's signature attacks, up to and including the Goldion Hammer. Appearance-wise, he looks like [[Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann Viral]] with Gai's long hair.

** In the dub of episode 24, Lavie's TV show is called "[[GunslingerGirl Gunbringer Girl]]". Mois thinks it sounds familiar -- her voice actress, Carrie Savage, having had a small role in ''Gunslinger Girl''. Again, there is no equivalent reference in the Japanese version.

* There's an all-star lineup for ''Anime/BinanKoukouChikyuuBoueibuLove'' but the most notable is Goura (TomokazuSugita) and Ryu Zaou/Battle Lover Vesta (ToshikiMasuda)...who previously had roles as the lead duo in ''Anime/SamuraiFlamenco''. To add to that, Vesta's InTheNameOfTheMoon speech is, "No justice can come from loveless power!" [[note]]Masayoshi of Samurai Flamenco loves saying stuff about justice[[/note]].
