Anonymous Mc Cartneyfan: Cut this and put it here for now. This is a long but non-definitive attempt to sink the "Barney is gonna die" theory. Since most of the details of the theory proper have been left on the Live Journal page of the originator, leaving this in the entry would mean more verbiage was spent Jossing it than supporting it; that violates the spirit of these pages. No lengthy debunking until we see the full argument for here.
- One of the things pointed out in that arcticle (other than what the troper above me already said) can be explained. The reason Future!Ted says "I had no idea why I hung out with Barney" in the Pilot is because, in the Pilot, Present!Ted had no idea why he hung out with Barney. He only understood why in Sweet Taste Of Liberty. And Future!Ted doesn't always use the Past Tense when talking about Barney - mostly, he uses it when referring to his job, just like he uses it to refer to Marshall's job at Barney's company, to Lily being a kindergarten teacher and to Robin being a TV "reporter", meaning they just changed jobs or retired.
