[[shatterspike1]] Ok, why did Ninjacrat remove a whole bunch of lines?

Bob: Looking at the history, it looks like the cuts were Natter.

Falcon Arrow: Re: the Liquid Ocelot reality — I'm not sure what the actual canon says re: whether Liquid Snake ever possessed (from beyond the grave) Ocelot, hence the alternate explanations. Also, regarding Drebin... I've seen a white man in the sleazy pimp stereotype in Punisher MAX #27, getting held up and interrogated at knifepoint (it was literally under his left eye) by the Punisher.

  • Narvi: What happened was he did get possessed. Only thing was the possession only activated when he was in the vicinity of Solid Snake, so later he got Genre Savvy and had the arm removed, but used the whole 'possessed shtick' to be unpredictable to the Patriot A.I.s.
  • Evil_Tim: Ocelot's version of Liquid seems to be the real one, since, among other things, he remembers the last thing Liquid said before he died [much as Mantis remembered things only he and Snake could have heard since Meryl was unconscious at the time]. So I guess whole-personality transplants from the dead are possible in the MGS universe. Calling it now on MGS 5: Snake Versus The Third Reich.
  • Recon 5 Anyone going to add a MGS 4 writeup to the page?

fleb: Haven't played the games, and can't find the example now for the life of me, but I remember seeing an example, somewhere on this wiki, that described one Boss Battle as being filled with dialogue consisting of a long string of Double Entendres. What was it?
Xander77: Removed the following line from the Did Not Do The Research entry: "*** The phoenetic pronouncement is also justified. They're english." No, they're RUSSIAN, but let's not fill things with natter.
Eddie Van Helsing: Is it just me, or should MGS 4 have been called "Grumpy Old Soldiers" instead of "Guns of the Patriots"? All we needed was Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon as Old Snake and Liquid Ocelot — and maybe Ann-Margaret as Naomi Hunter.
brokenwit - Otacon designed the most powerful armored fighting vehicle in the world, designed said unit based on his anime mecha fantasies, has some serious issues with women, and carries his adoptive daughter near the field of battle. Hell, his name is based on his love of anime. He is not an Arthur Dent. Sigint, on the other hand, is actually normal, and even lampshades this at one point. The prosecutions rests.
The Scrappy - Raiden, before his cyborgification. Even in Japan, where the pretty boys are liked a lot, they hated him.

Sir Ilpalazzo - Japan never hated Raiden. Japanese fans were also disappointed that they didn't get to play as Snake, but they didn't hate him the way many other fans did.

Alhazred - If you look at Japanese gaming magazines from before Sons of Liberty came out, they actually spoiled Raiden ahead of time because their readers would be much more receptive to him.

John Z: I pulled this quote out from under Captain Obvious:
Naomi (after a 20 minute cutscene about Snake's condition): "Snake. You and I are the only ones who know about your condition."
It's not technically an instance of this; Naomi had just spent the last umpty months/years as a captive of Ocelot, and there was the potential that he could have forced her to spill what she'd learned (remember, he's a master of interrogation/torture).

  • Ice Crystal - I just realized that Johnny Sasaki is Snake's brother. Sorta. He's a Genome Soldier, right? At least that can be inferred from his presence in Liquid's forces at Shadow Moses in MGS 1. And, as Liquid taunts Snake re: the Genome Soldiers: "You've been killing our brothers and sisters." Admittedly depending on gene therapy techniques and cloning tomfoolery Johnny might be more like a cousin than a brother proper, but it's still weird as hell to realize. It makes his level in badass more plausible, though! ;) There's also the fact that he looks a lot like a younger, blonder Snake. Major Fridge Logic moment.
    • Narvi: That might count if Johnny had received the gene therapy. He's afraid of needles, remember? All the genome soldiers are likely dead by now too, because of Clone Degeneration.
    • Ice Crystal again - It's been a long time since I've played MGS 1. If Johnny were a clone along the lines of Snake, he'd obviously be suffering from the same degeneration, as you say. So the Genome Soldiers were not full clones as the Les Enfants Terrible were, but was the gene therapy process ever elucidated? I was left with the impression that it was something beyond simple injections, like, possible prenatal alteration of a developing embryo. He'd be a bit young to be afraid of needles if he was only eight cells old. :) Again, it's been so long, that I don't remember the specifics of what Liquid said in his many... many... rants about it.
      • Narvi: None of the Genome Soldiers are clones. They received gene therapy to become better soldiers, but the flaws in the process would eventually result in them dying. That's what the Shadow Moses Incident was precipitated by. Again, Johnny never got the therapy in the first place.

Amitai: I'm gonna change the picture back to the one I put up. This one is cute, yeah, but the Memetic Mutation isn't the most important part of the franchise.

GG Crono: If you ask me, there's nothing wrong with injecting a bit of humor into the page. And it is pretty durned humorous. :)

Amitai: I agree, but only on the side. I don't think it should be the main focus.

goodtimesfreegrog: Isn't it about time we split this article into different pages for each game in the series? Especially considering how Trope Overdosed this franchise is in general...
