Primo Victoria: I would like to add Linkara, God of Comics Geeks.
Shale: I'm probably biased, but I like Brain better for Evil than this - if there's any one trope he's identified with, it's Take Over the World, which isn't really a Knowledge thing.
Rogue 7: Reason I put Brain here instead of there is that his shtick is that he's always got some sort of convoluted plan. Never an army of loyal soldiers, but something like, IIRC, writing the world's greatest romance novel which will contain within it a subliminal message, or some such nonsense. And it's always said to be because of his intellect that he can do this. Someone like, Palpatine, might fit better for that, as the guy took over the galaxy for the most part.
Jackgar Prime: Here's an idea. What about H.P. Lovecraft for God of Forbidden Knowledge? Or one of his Author inserts, like the "Mad Arab" Abdul Alhazred. No knowledge gets more forbidden than the Necronomicon.
Freezair For A Limited Time: I like it! Run with it, definitely. I'm not an expert on Lovecraftian mythos, so I don't know if the man himself or one of his characters would work better, but that sounds perfect.
Primo Victoria: Lovecraft here, Abdul as an teacher of Forbidden Knowledge in Academy
Freezair For A Limited Time: I think we need a god or goddess of reporting/uncovering the truth. Since we all know what a big Entry Pimp I am, it should come as no surprise that I'm suggesting Jade from Beyond Good And Evil. After all, her character is based around reporting. If she's too obscure, then I recommend Tintin in her place (the 80's cartoon series was my favorite when I was a kid), and swap their places in the "Followers" part. Proposed writeup:
Jade, Goddess of Reporters (Shauni, Miss Thyrus)
- Quasidiety
- Symbol: A camera shutter
- Alignment: Chaotic Good
- Portfolio: Intrepid Reporters, Amateur Photographers, Those Who Speak For The Resistance, Truth Seekers, Women Who Never Give In, Cute Girls Who are Not What They Appear To Be, Easily Persuaded Townspeople
- Domains: Truth, Rhetoric, News
- Followers: Tintin, Frank West
- Ascended after forcibly beating pretenders Buck Williams and Rita Skeeter back in combat, armed with only a stick. Produces the Trope Pantheon newsletter. In her spare time, hangs out with the Goddess of Badass Mothers, [space blank until we get one of those up.]
Peteman: Why is Milhouse the God of Nerds? By his own admission, he is not a nerd, as "Nerds are Smart". Seriously, why not Steve Urkel as god of nerds? Hell, Lisa would be a better candidate.
Ouroboros: Seconded, Milhouse doesn't consistent portray a high level of intelligence in anything, sometimes he comes off as border-line retarded. Steve Urkel would make a much better entry.
Peteman: Steve Urkel is taking over the domain of nerds. Milhouse is more a dork anyways.
Doctor Nemesis: Perhaps we should include a deity (or deities, perhaps) representing those who govern? Some kind of God of Political Integrity or some such? Fortunately, I have someone in mind:
Josiah Bartlet, God of Political Integrity (Jed, Mr. President)
- Level of Influence: Intermediate God?
- Symbol: Seal of the Office of President of the United States
- Alignment: Lawful Good
- Portfolio: Honest and Personable Leaders With Integrity, Amiable Brainboxes, Benevolent Bosses, Commanders-In-Chief Who Will Blow You To Hell If You Mess With Them Or Theirs
- Domains: Hope, Knowledge
- Capable of inspiring great loyalty from those who follow him, through leading by example. Folksy but sharp. Has been known to subject those who displease him to lengthy late-night lectures about U.S National Parks and the correct way of seasoning a Thanksgiving turkey.
I think this manner of deity belongs here more than in Justice (since that's more about those who enforce laws, and we already have the God of Bureaucracy here. This is my first deity also, so any comments welcome.
Doctor Nemesis: Well, it's been about a week, so I'll just add Bartlet as is and let the Wiki Gods sort it out.
Ekul: I have a proposition: Lucca Ashtear. She is almost a goddess in the games already, and she's favored by whatever "Entity" set the game in motion. Let's face it: She set up the Telepod which set the game in motion, she fixes Robo at least three times, all of her gadgets are WAY ahead of her time period (guns win a world where they still use swords, crossbows and stuff), she figures out how to work the broken old computers in 2300 in mere seconds, she helps Melchoir fix the legendary Masamune and Flare is the second best attack in the entire game. She's also given the ability to Set Right What Once Went Wrong in her own past, something which nobody else is allowed to do in the game. Lastly, of all the characters from the transition Chrono Trigger to Chrono Cross, she's the one who has the most effect on the timeline because she raised Kid, the heroine. Finally, she's a scientist, yet her magic is the second highest of all the characters. So of what is she the Goddess? Teen Genius, those who are ahead of their time... Something like that.
The Rabid Walnut: I propose there be a god of "The whole world is just awesome" to point out to his/her/its/other followers just how cool the natural world can be? I should like to propose David Attenborough for the role, because he is not only the person who has seen the most of it, but enjoyed showing it off the most too. (Steve Irwin being disqualified for having neither the gravitas the role required, and his unfortunate (almost Hagrid-like) habit of poking the more dangerous inhabitants of the world with sticks)
Some random troper: I propose that Patchouli Knowledge be a part of this Pantheon. Probably along the lines of Hikikomori Badass Librarian. She's probably providing the books for the Pantheon, considering the size of her library. Considering her powers, she'd probably do well in the Pantheon of Elements too, but this seems more fitting.
