SpiriTsunami: They removed "hexagrams", you say? Uh, don't you mean pentagrams?

  • Hexagrams AND Pentagrams. Pentagrams because they're "Satanic" and Hexagrams because they're also "Satanic." And, y'know, Jewish. But Jews are all Satan-worshippers, right?

Obscurites: Should we create a separate trope that solely includes the details on its collectible card game?
Jimmy: Just wanted to add something about the "too good to last" status of the Uncut DV Ds: Not only were there only three, but all three also had questionable subtitle translations (by the third volume, they were using the dub names) and the third had several glitches.
Red Shoe: Now, it has been claimed that the name of the dragon Hermos is also an example for 4Kids editing out the occult bits (In translations of the manga, the dragon's name is rendered as "Helmos", which sounds like "hell"). This particular claim is unjustified: Hermos, like the other Atlantean dragons, is named for a character in a Platonic dialogue. The transliteration used in the manga is inaccurate.

Ununnilium: You know, if someone was going to edit all the references to Yu-Gi-Oh GX into Yu-Gi-Oh GX, they could at least make an entry for it. u.u

Lale: If you insist...

Ununnilium: Ah, much better.

Later: I thought Pegasus not dying was a dub thing.

Tanto: No, I believe he shows up in Yu-Gi-Oh GX as a good guy. I could be wrong, though — I don't usually watch that show, I just had the TV on Cartoon Network while I was waiting for Naruto to come on...

Lale: No, you're right.

Pika Hikari KT: He does die in the manga, though. My guess is that he became an Ensemble Dark Horse in the anime—he lived to see a filler arc, The Movie, the "Where Are They Now?" Epilogue, and GX.

Cassius335 Who the heck is the pic supposed to be? Vampire something or other? Any chance of putting a pic of Atem up there? Or at least Dark Magician?

Anonymous Yu-Gi-Oh the Abridged series makes makes reference to "the 4 kids version" of how they met Anzu/Tea, anyone care to elaborate on the original?

  • MistressMinako: Not motivated enough to go back and watch TAS at the moment, but in the manga, Yuugi and Anzu had already known each other for quite some time (and in that same scene, it's hinted that Yuugi is a viral young male, so mayhapse that's why the anime/4Kids altered it).
  • Mach Girl: Well, according to the manga, Yugi and Anzu met in elementary school. He loaned her a Game Boy, she sucked at the game and broke it. Yugi's response was to smile, get one that was easier for her, and give it to her to play the next day. It's the kind of thing that's cute if you think about it hard enough ...

Kilyle: This page is linked from the Card Games page, yet has no useful information about the collectible card game itself. Can we get separate pages, or a separate section, or at least a paragraph discussing the card game and where to get more information on its description and rules?
Kalle: The original picture for this page has always bothered me — not in the 'ew, creepy' way, but in that 'but where's Yugi D:?' way. So I replaced it~ if anyone has issues with that, feel free to yell at me!

(And yeah, I agree that we need more description for the card game.)

Lale: Describe the card game? How?

Kayube: I agree... It's not as if the card game has a real story apart from the anime and manga's. The manga originally implied that it had a metastory where the players were wizards like in Magic The Gathering, but it dropped that quickly.

Lale: Nope, not wizards — just Ancient Egyptian priests named after random Egyptian mythological figures.

Kalle: Haha, I guess you have a point. I guess it's just 'cause I see so much talk of certain cards about the wiki that I would've liked to see more background on it, but... lol, Merchandise-Driven at its finest, I suppose.

Cassius335: What if we forget about the anime version of the card game and do something on the real-life version? And by the way: Thank you for the new pic, Kalle.

BigT: I agree. The real life card game (officially called Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME) should probably have a page, like Magic The Gathering does. If I wind up making it, I'll use Magic The Gathering as a template. The problem is that I've never played, only watched. But what I don't know, I can probably find out.

djkates: If you need information for that, you can check Upperdeck's Yu-Gi-Oh! website. They should have everything you need, including a PDF of the rulebook.
