dangerus: Ran the article through Word; wasn't exactly sure what to do with the last line ("And they're pretty...".

Scrounge: I'm trying not to think about how he got himself to look like that, but failing miserably... and nothing I can think of is easily reversible. Poor sweet thing, putting himself through hell for the sake of lonely otaku. :)

HeartBurn Kid: Strangely realistic fake breasts on a crossdresser is almost an anime trope in itself. I remember reading in Wizard Magazine about a "lost episode" of Pokemon in which James of Team Rocket cross-dresses in a bikini, and the editors point out that, not only do his breasts seem oddly realistic (and fill the bikini nicely, cleavage and all), but they're also larger than Jesse's.

Ununnilium: I've seen it (or at least, the infamous "groping himself" scene), and, well, yep.

Scrounge: Might I suggest that we replace the top quote with some of the lyrics to "Lola" by The Kinks? The whole Ackbar thing's getting kind of old. LATER: Done. If anyone thinks I could have picked a better verse, feel free to change it. I was chosing between the one I used and
Well I'm not the worl's most masculine man,
But I know what I am and I'm glad I'm a man
And so is Lola
But I wasn't sure that one was obvious enough. Also, is there a place we usually link to song lyrics on? There's too many lyrics databases out there that seem like they don't know what punctuation is.

Silent Hunter: Think we ought to split this into male-female and female-to-male. The last example is the latter (If Disney are to be believed, she married an Indian bloke. Wonder if she stayed like that...)

Cassy: Clearly, I'm not the only troper here who finds much of this page ignorant and discriminatory against transgender people (who are not crossdressers and certainly not funny oddities and Barnum freaks). Can I suggest that we move some of this to the trope on transgenderism if there is one or that we create one if there isn't?

bluepenguin: Removed:

  • Peppo in Gankutsuou.
    • Actually, it's strongly implied that Peppo isn't a male crossdresser but a transgendered woman - in other words, that she's a woman trapped in a male body. Unlike many transgendered characters, she doesn't seem to mind.
    • Which just makes her more likeable in this troper's eyes. In the novel, it was basically Peppo/Beppo/whatever's job to be the bait for a particular scheme and it's quite unlikely for the time period that he was anything other than just... well, the prettiest lad they could find. In Gankutsuou, however, it's character development. Because it's in space, natch. Adaptation Decay or just plain awesome?
  • Isabella in Paradise Kiss.
    • Same argument, she's obviously transgendered.
  • This troper cannot believe that Angel from RENT hasn't been mentioned here yet.
    • Erm...she's a transwoman...
  • Seiko-chan from Lovely Complex who is, despite one initial Squick-out moment for the male romantic lead, treated as a completely normal girl in the context of the show.
    • See above- Seiko's a transgendered woman. She even says that God put her in the wrong body, for crying out loud!

If they're transwomen, they belong in Transsexual, not here.

Cassy: Thanks so much bluepenguin! I can't believe someone finally heeded my comments XD. Speaking of which: I don't know the character whose picture is on the page, is it really a so-called 'crossdresser' or is it a trans woman? If it's someone who's biologically male and had chest surgery done, it's very likely a transgendered woman. If that's the case, I suggest we change the image to one of Hibiki-sensei, for example.

Citizen: Hahaha, Mizuho claims another victim. Try actually reading the caption, or clicking the picture.

Removed Poison from Final Fight for the overwhelmingly obvious reason that she's a transsexual, NOT A CROSSDRESSER.

Stargate525: I CANNOT BELIEVE that no one has mentioned Shakespeare... Rectifying this problem now.
Adam850: Removed "* This troper would bet dollars to donuts that [[http://www.zapinspace.com/d/20090202.html Cap'n Holly Kidson]] from {{Zap}}! fits under this trope.", as it doesn't really work.

King: The Crash Test Dummies song quoted at the top of the page is originally by the Replacements. I went ahead and changed it.

Klaue: Since I'm not 100% sure what a crossdresser has to do to be considered wholesome (I'm no native english speaker and "healthy crossdresser" doesn't sound right): Would Ed Wood's movie "Glen or Glenda?" count? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0045826/
